  1. Off topic, but are those photos on your signature and avatar real? I like!
  2. I can't see Osama anywhere. Reckon he might be undercover.... In fact, I didn't see anyone doing anything dodgy - except the guy wearing the cloak of invisibility (look next to the fence next to the TV camera tower). There is just this pair of legs from the knees down (blue jeans, brown laceup shoes - leather if I'm not mistaken) in the middle of nowhere. Admittedly, you could probably tell what brand of shoes he is wearing..... Must be a merged set of photos to get the whole crowd - same as google earth.
  3. I had my mk2 golf broken into at Charles de Gaulle airport a few years back. These winners left the stereo, RayBans, toolbox and other assorted crap and nicked the parcel shelf, gear knob and surround. I still can't understand why - it cost all of about 15 euro to get replacements from the wrecker.

    Engine hoist

Bit off topic, but I hope we'll get a run down on the project - sounds really interesting! Not a gas slurping Bimmer, but it is what the future will most likely bring.
  5. Haha - I took that literally and expected a soiled, rainbow coloured plate surround....
  6. This sounds like a good option - I wouldn't be too concerned about modifying a used stereo, but I wouldn't want to tear into a brand new one. The iTrips I have used have been OK, but not as good as real radio let alone a CD.
  7. Nice one Jon.... Nothing in particular (right now anyway) - but really good for keeping beer cold on hot days. Every time I could actually use it, I have no idea where to find the stuff at short notice. Pass my regards onto Robert.
  8. Yeah - I think it's the pressure being so high around here and the fast shut off. I did think about turning the mains tap at the letterbox back a bit. Might have to get a plumber in for a permanent fix - but I have no desire to tear into any walls.... Thanks for the suggestions fellas.
  9. Thats actually pretty good. UZAHOE on some POS.
  10. Eurocollision or Evans European for the front end respray. I got some genuine touchup paint from Team McMillan for about $15 - 20 each for the paint and clearcoat. Good luck.
  11. Speaking of CO2 suppliers (and completely off topic) - does anyone know where to find dry ice?
  12. Haha - he is single handedly upholding an Australian stereotype.... Good work!!
  13. Does anyone have suggestions (preferrably easy to install by a plumber) to stop banging pipes at home? Flow restricter, flux capacitor or other solution?? Basically when the dishwasher, washing machine or some taps shut off the water flow too fast, there is a bang from the pipework. It's all copper piping but I really don't want it to burst a pipe as it is all overhead piping and will flood the house.... Suggestions required.
  14. You weren't abducted by aliens X-Files style were you?? Sorry - I couldn't help myself.
  15. Good o - sounds like you are on top of it. I'll give you a call when I need some welding done .
  16. WHat the hell happened at the end??? Sounded like a tank exploded or something.... Brown trouser time.
  17. I did some welding on a VW beetle torsion bar front end a while back, and it had to be done by a certified welder. Not sure if they have relaxed it but I am picking probably not. Course it may not apply for off-road cars - this was on my everyday driver. I guess the answer is to check the rules and make sure you don't need the ticket before getting stuck in!
  18. I was just going to suggest Wheel Fix It - they look to do a really good job on the ones I have seen.
  19. Can't remember anything about thickness affecting the gas specifically (it has been a while since I was at uni) but the thickness might change the type of filler/electrode used and hence the gas type. Makes a difference if you are welding a nuclear reactor vessel, but probably not so much on an E30 exhaust... You could also try Air Liquide - they do welding gasses as well. From memory BOC were pretty good with advice on welding though - they probably want an account to make sure you return the bottle when finished. Also try http://www.weldreality.com/default2.htm and get yourself a copy of the Sandvik Welding Handbook if you don't already have one... Or this TradeMe . Depending on what you plan on welding, keep in mind that you probably need a certified weld for anything structural or suspension (i.e.: not something you can do without a course at polytec...) if it is on a road car. Edit: Forgot to add to have fun - welding is a really handy skill to have!
  20. BRUNEI - It was a beer run on the high seas. Brunei's customs officers arrested two men who tried to smuggle 1,382 cans of contraband beer by boat into the Muslim-majority country, a news report said Wednesday. The men entered Brunei's waters from a neighbouring nation on Tuesday but tried to flee when they realised they had been spotted, the Borneo Bulletin newspaper reported. It did not identify the neighbouring country, but Brunei shares borders with two Malaysian states on Borneo island. Customs authorities foiled the escape after a high-speed chase, making their biggest seizure of alcohol this year, the report added. Brunei's laws ban the public sale and consumption of alcohol, though non-Muslim visitors are allowed to bring in limited amounts for private consumption. Representatives of Brunei's Royal Customs Department could not immediately be reached. The men are expected to be charged with alcohol smuggling, which is typically punished by a fine.
  21. Team Australia, fcuk yeah! I think the last 2 were part of a competition between ad agencies - they get given a topic and have to make an ad for it. Very well done. Ironic that we are invading them day by day....
  22. I haven't had a bike for a few years now - but have always been a Kawasaki man... Last one was a Ninja ZX7R - I sold it when I realised it was going to end in hospital, morgue, or jail. And I'm no fan of hospital food, or sharing showers with 7ft wrestlers named Bubba.... I do quite like the R1200 GS however. Did I hear correctly that BMW will be entering the World Superbike champs?
