    Mechanic Needed!

For non-beamers, try Best Automotive (http://www.bestautomotive.co.nz/). They are in Burswood Dr, and I have had nothing but excellent service from them on my previous cars.
  3. Isn't that a member on here?
  4. I used to think I would love to own one, but the reality is give me a Cigarette Top Gun and a 68 RS Camaro for the same money any day....
  5. Spotted it in St Heliers at Dingle Dell. The owner might live around there as i saw him further down the road checking tyres before he passed me.... Dunno how many there are in NZ, but there can't be many...
  6. I am speechless! The guy in the yellow shirt in the 5th pic on the 1st page also looks suspect to me. My mrs is sure it's 2 dudes....
  7. There was an identical one 2 or 3 spaces down which I didn't even see until I rode past it. Must be a comodity item now.
  8. Spotted these last weekend between Mechanics Bay and St Heliers: Ferrari F40 2x bronze Lamborghinis (parked 2 spots away from each other at the Okahu bay marina) 1x black Lambo So much for there being a credit crisis....
  9. It's not running on 5 cylinders at startup is it? I have had one drop a cylinder and inside the car it sounded like a haunted shithouse and vibrated badly for a few seconds before normal service resumed (normally when I gave it a rev). Best get someone to give it the once over - especially if it has done it more than once.

    Spider as payment?

And then there was the guy that put it on ebay. And the tool that bid $10k USD for it.... http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=665808 http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=667093
  11. Out the hood is the only rightful place for a blower. And especially when it is sitting on top of 572ci of Hemi... Righteous!

    Spider as payment?

Couple of beers short of a 6 pack, surely? LMAO
  13. Curious as to how do you work that out? That profile has been around since 2004....
  14. That video has trade show promo video written all over it.... Interesting none the less. Throw in some thermal shock (like -100C to +200C) and then we're really talking!
  15. Wiper blades, air filter and bulbs are easy enough to do yourself. But get someone that knows to do the A/C belt and handbrake. You can't afford to ignore aged belts - if they fail they can make a mess and damage all sorts of other things. Not sure about the E36's but if it is anything like mine, it is a mission to get to the belt so worth paying an expert to do it. Belt tensioners can be a bastard to work with too - so be warned that doing an A/C belt by yourself could be a mission.
  16. Not the GF reaching for the jesus handle is it?? Seriously, good luck locating the issue. And remember, a soldered joint/splice is more reliable than the clip together or connector block type.
  17. Ouch!! Have to have some fairly good justification to take a $30 million hit like that (and keep your job that is)....
  18. Yeah I choked when I looked around as well (but that's still $900 better than Jerry Clayton quoted me to install one...). I managed to pick one up off Trademe for $350 (no electronics). It takes about 2 hours to do if you are handy with the tools (just have to remove the rear bumper). Scariest part is cutting the bumper cover...

    Vietnam ??

I'm told Hoi An is pretty cool - so I'm going over the Christmas break. I am also told that for $50 you can shoot an AK47. And for another $100 you can use a shoulder mounted rocket launcher (and pray that it doesn't cook off in the pipe I guess)....

    Xenon upgrade

Not quite true - Xenon is also used as a brand name for HID by at least one major manufacturer that I can think of (just to confuse things).... Also called discharge, gas discharge, GDL as well depending on who you talk to. The HID kits (re-based bulbs to fit std reflectors etc) are dangerous and illegal - stay away from them. You need a full HID headlamp with self levelling etc - yes do check that your new ones include the motors etc. I'm not sure, but won't you run into issues with the body computer / current draw etc of HID lamps in an E39 if it was originally specified for halogens? Just a suggestion.... Hotwire or Jochen may be able to clairfy this. Changing the colour of the angel eye celis ring may be possible depending on their design. Some use LED's which are difficult to change (unless you know a bit about LED binning and colours etc) where some use halogen bulbs (which could be a simple change). The light guides (angel eyes) are notoriously difficult to get light out of for exactly the same reason as fibre optic cables work so its quite conceivable that the complaints are inherent in the design of those particular versions. Good luck - be interested to see a picture of the results.
  22. Looks like quite a special car and looks great in purple! Only thing I'm not down with is the eyebrows on the headlamps - just not my thing. Good luck with the sale.

    Summer Work

Been there and done that - it ain't easy finding work to cover those hours (especially in this economic climate). All I can suggest is that she gets out her CV and starts firing it out to everyone she can think of. If she starts with the bigger companies that specialise in electrical (telecom, vector etc, etc, etc) she might have more of a chance. Also don't forget student job search. Good idea putting it to the masses though.
  24. Come on Jon! Only another $6 grand or so and its yours!!
