  1. It could be that the minidisc player is not compatable with burnt discs. I had a cd player in a car that I could not play burnt cd's on.
  2. Where are you and which model 5 series are you after?
  3. First piece of advice. Get a prepurchase check by a BMW specialist mechanic, not the local 'grease monkey' or car inspection outfit.
  4. The problem we have on this web site is it is full of young guys who think they know it all. I am 64 years of age and have been a car dealer more than half my life, so I think that when pricing vehicles, I have the edge over most of the members here. One of the issues here is plain old jealousy. They want what you have got but can't afford to pay for it, so they lowball the price just in case you get desperate. A couple of points: The car has under 100kms..... worth an extra $1,000.00 It's a coupe......... worth an extra $1/1,500.00 It's manual........ worth an extra $1/1,500.00 So you car is worth an extra $3/4,000.00 more than a standard 232 4 door. You can buy a good E36 323 sedan for around $7/8,000.00 which with the extras I have noted, makes your car good buying at what you are asking for it. Best wishes with your sale.
  5. Contrary to what a lot of misinformed members here say, I don't think that $10K is too much for your car. I am a car dealer and I also own the same car (E36 //M coupe manual 323) and in my opinion a car such as yours has a retail value on a car yard of around $12K. I wouldn't accept anything less for mine.
  6. What are you doing getting a clown from AA to repair a BMW? I wouldn't trust them to put back a bicycle chain.
  7. Saw an E36 compact drive past Middlemore Hospital yesterday. It was silver with two black racing stripes painted over the car ( as per the Fords) with an enormous Pacific Islands lady driver. Trust me, it was scary, very scary.
  8. Merry Christmas everyone. Santa brought me sox, shirts and a naughty, all two sizes too big.
  9. Good on ya for putting up the pics Ben.
  10. Shantelle, PM me your phone number and I will organise a valuation for you to use with the Insurance company. Or you could meet me at Fibbers this afternoon.
  11. Today, Graham, our resident know it all, gets married. So Graham, all the very best for today. Pity the weather's crap, but I'm sure it will be a memorable day for you both.
  12. This is VW's factory at Dresden where they make the VW Phaeton. http://www.flixxy.com/high-tech-car-factory.htm
  13. First person I would contact would be Jono (zenetti) for any advice about tyres.
  14. Keep at it Mark, it will sell eventually. Come on guys....... this is a nice car with a long Bimmersport history so lets keep it in the family.
  15. I have the perfect solution. Buy my 1935 Daimler Limousine. Only $25K and you will have until March to restore it.
  16. The biggest problem you will have with an ex Singapore car is the heater. Because of the hot climate there, they tend to block off the heaters. This can cause problems as once you find out where the hot water supply to the heater is blocked, and remove it, the heater box in the dash often collapses because it has water in it that hasn't moved for years and has rusted everything out. Just a warning, it has happened to me on several occasions with cars I have imported from Singers.
  17. If you can get it for that price, then buy it. If not, then tell me how to contact the seller and I will buy it. I can see a good profit here.
  18. Happy Birthday Graham. Enjoy this one as it's the last as a single man, so party hard before the shackles are attached.
  19. I replaced the speakers in the footwell of my E36 coupe with a pair of 5 1/4" Nacamichis. Don't ask me the model number but they do have a very large magnet for their size. These speakers are kickass almost to the point that they are almost as good as the sub. This saves the problem of cutting into the steel work of the car and compromising it's structure.
  20. Happy Birthday Keith, Hope the day puts a "spring" in your step.
  21. I don't care if you are Holden or Ford...this is awesome, the sound is just brilliant, 9 minutes of good old Aussie grunt During the race you will see some old and very old classic racers - - including a 1957 Ford Customline ! - see if you can pick it. MUST have sound.....turned WAY up. Click on:
  22. This was featured on this weeks Radio Hauraki Insider. Check it out, this is what Xmas lights should be like. http://www.hauraki.co.nz/listenlive/tvplay...p?recnumber=803
  23. Hi RIO, I can do the valuation for you except you are in Wellington and I am in Auckland, and it could raise alarm bells with the insurance company. My other suggestion is to go to a car yard (just a small used car place) and ask them to do a valuation for you. Most dealers will do that for you and charge between $30-50.00. either that or offer to buy them a box of beer. Without being racist, make sure it's a European Kiwi that you go to. Ifyou need any other help then PM me. I am a licenced car dealer.
  24. I had the entire exhaust system changed in my E36. Instead of the standard single pipe, I'm now sporting a twin pipe system out of a 328. Next project is to cut out the cats but at the moment I'm unsure what to replace them with. Do I just run straight pipes, or do I put in a pair of resonators? Any one here have experiance in doing this? I am looking to get a better exhaust note but nothing too outragous. Many thanks to Keith of Jamex and Jono and the crew at Mag & Tyre Direct for all their effort.

    Paypal Scams

As most of you know, I am selling my vintage Daimler and have it advertised on Trade Me and eBay UK along with my email addy. I have so far received 3 different emails from prospective buyers from overseas. They are all out of their resident countries at the moment for various reasons, but want to buy the car at the asking price and have arranged an agent to pick up the car and export it overseas. They all want me to open a paypal account so that they can pay me. Personally I don't want to do this and have given them a seldom used bank account I have and asked them to deposit the money into it, but they refused and insist on using paypal only. I smelt a scam and googled paypal scams and found this. http://www.suite101.com/content/car-buying...-paypal-a215956 It seems that this is a scam and is quite prolific. They pay the money into your paypal account with a credit card, pick the vehicle up straight away then cancel the payment with the credit card company, so you have no car and no money. So beware. It seems that these people target sellers of cars.
