I just got a handle on loading the pix -sound clips I wouldn't have a f**kn clue!

Time to post some new photo's of the 97 with new 18's, exhaust & black grill. There has been lots of discussion on exhaust options for the v8's so thought I would share my experiences & the result. What I was looking for was a nice rumble at idle,a roar when I boot it but most of all NO DRONE! The result (for me anyway) is perfect. After sussing a couple of exhaust shops for info & quotes ($440 & $680)I thought Bugger That ! - I'll do it myself. I really wanted twin outlets that were visible so went for a Powerpro with 3" inlet & twin 2.5" outlets.Went 3" so that we could slipjoint & clamp rather than weld to the stock pipe-In case it sounded like s**t.Also made the install much easier. We cut the exhaust just to the rear of the back axle & removed the stock muffler & 10 ton resonator-Left everything forward of that intact. The cost ; $159 + freight from X-racing in Ak via TM $60 for 2 90" bends & clamps. The grills are DIY too.A bit of etch primer,1500 grit & 5 coats each of black & clear-gotta love spray cans!! I've gotta mate who's brilliant with airbrush,paint effects etc & he does a mean carbon fibre so I think the next mod's gonna be the wood trim-yeah,I know-so I,m cheap!!!!

It's agile,user friendly & it goes like a cut cat & oozes style. I love playing with all the bells & whistles & just standing back & admiring her. I just luf my 540's. BUT ! every time I get to cruise in my brothers 740iL I have to confess I just luuuuuuuuuf the 7's even more. And big bro's 06 Z4 is awesome in a way only Beemers can be-oooh! the handling. But i wouldnt have one cos where would the dogs sit!!!!!!!!!

Looks sweet-nice wheels.Be interesting to poll to see how many 540's on the forum now-numbers seem to be growing by the day.

Wish i could get my "technician" to come to the house to service my cars. Like you, love the 993's-must be interesting story behind these two.

In the late 70's I was head function waiter at Lennons Hotel in Brisbane-very classy at the time. We had the US vice president(to Lyndon Johnson) staying & did a Govt dinner.They took 3 floors for security reasons.All we staff had to pass pre visit AFP & secret service background checks.And believe me the secret service are EXACTLY like they're portrayed on TV but the vice pres & his staff were really friendly & normal . Some years later I was maitre'd at a well known restaurant in Brisbane when an aide to Harry Belafonte(you young dudes wont have a clue) called saying he needed somewhere to watch a west indies v oz cricket test after his show & would we open for him after hours. I got volunteered & spent several hours with a truly charming,normal man. Another surprise was Jo Bjelke-Peterson the Qld Premier who,in spite of his fearsome reputation,again was down to earth & always treated those who worked for him with the greatest courtesy.But then he was a kiwi!! Have met heaps of celebs thro my work & they fall into 2 groups. The truly great ones are humble & down to earth & the wannabes are generally a-holes.

Hey guys,can anyone tell me how to remove the drop down panel above the tape in my e39?

He has to have everything in his partners name which he hates big time & possibly creates an unwanted leverage-a big price to pay for a bit of opportunism.

I have a friend who tried a stunt regarding a "stolen" 4wd when he was young & stupid.He is now in his 40's with assets (incl a house) which he cannot insure. Through my former business I have seen these guys at work many times & they are VERY good. Apart from all that at the end of the day if you try it you're nothing but a thieving prick who the rest of us have to subsidise!!

I've just put new 18's on my black 540 with continental 245 40's & I really like the handling improvement-no minuses so far. Would like to go bigger at the rear when funds allow.

The wheels are style 37's according to that recently posted e39 article(I think).Does that make them M5's ?I hope so because I've got them on one of mine ( 17's tho )

I dont think this one is too quiet-looks VERY nice-nice to see more 540's (2 2day) joing the fray-just goes to show theres lots of people with good taste
