  1. Tried it when i had the E36 .... was never able to get it to work ... must have either had the wrong modules or wasn't pressing the right things.
  2. Shows even in interior plastics. How long have the Euro's had the enviromental restrictions on them? pre 1990?
  3. Last time the Audi went there Matthew Ridge did it personally (not sure whether thats a good or a bad thing haha). Some good pannel/paint shops will do grooming and fix up little chips etc expect to pay abit for it tho.
  4. Was speaking more in relation to the Electronic management that M3 Power was talking about. Obiously the E39 still has it but is not as extreme as what you get new nowdays.
  5. hmm very interesting! i think ill stick with the good old e39
  6. i stand corrected. Regardless tho whatever it takes to get it back on the road should be covered IMO,
  7. yea i think they may have made that disclaimer sound more worrying than it really is. yes coding can screw some things up but it is being done by BMW with BMW equipment so there should be no issue. I'd just say do it.
  8. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-348685817.htm Rather interesting listing details.

    E46 320 (6cyl)

Sounds like it was owned by a honda fanboy
  10. Sounds like BS to me and that exclusion says the opposite to what they are telling you. Maybe it was just the person you were talking to that didn't know what they were on about?

    Speeders fight back

haha yea .... i thought it was funny ... then i saw the end and it was hilarious.
  12. Wait untill you have the money and do it properly. That sucks about the keys ... kinda proves it is cheaper to spend 500 on a spare key in the first place tho haha.
  13. ok so that was build Feb 2001.This means it does not have the newer 'world tuner' (BM54). The Dealer will have installed a band expander to make the jap radio module pickup NZ stations, but will still display the jap freq on the monitor. RDS will not work through this. ..... IMO this is also a really crappy way of getting the radio to work. If it was me i would remove the band expander and fit a BM24(older) or BM54(newer) radio module (located in the boot) which is capable of doing NZ radio frequencys properly.
  14. is it running a NZ capable tuner or are you using a band expander? if the later i'm pretty sure you wont get RDS. Can you supply the build date of the car? or the last 7 digits of the vin.
  15. unplug the nav drive lock the car leave it for 15mins (so that it goes to sleep)... alternatively pull the battery. then go turn the monitor on and it should have defaulted to a non-nav setup.
  16. u've probably already discussed this with grant but .... if its jap import u'll need a tuner change or band expander unless its a late 2001 build. The owner manuals are generally pretty broad there are so many different options that not absolutly everything is covered in one book there are ushally add-on manuals for the audio system, nav etc
  17. do you know specificly what rims yet?
  18. woo another E39 M-sport .... starting to get quite a collection.
