Hmmmmmmmmm, How do you know it wasnt due to the old guy who owned it being stone deaf, putting $25k + worth of sound system in it & then sitting on the remote as he shuffled away from his zimmer frame & not being able to get back out of the car quick enough cause he had given his man servant the afternoon off ?? You know what they say about assumption................

A wee funny for Monday After 35 years, mailman George decides to retire. On his last day, he makes his usual rounds. When he arrives at the first house, the whole family comes out, congratulates him, and sends him on his way with a tidy gift envelope. At the second house, they present him with a box of fine cigars. The folks at the third house hand him a selection of terrific fishing lures. At the next house, he is met at the door by a strikingly beautiful woman in a revealing negligee. She takes him by the hand and leads him up to the bedroom, where she blows his mind with the most passionate sex he has ever experienced. When done, they go downstairs, where she fixes him a giant breakfast. As she pours him a cup of coffee, he notices a dollar bill sticking out from under the cup's bottom edge. "All this is just too wonderful for words," he says, "but what's the dollar for?" "Well," she says, "last night, I told my husband that today would be your last day and that I wanted to do something special for you. I asked him what to give you. He said, 'Screw him. Give him a dollar.' But breakfast was my idea."

Ta Nic, Pointing out the obvious re new cars, the bottom line is due to the advances made with new vehicles far more people are surviving accidents they would not have in the past ergo we have lower fatality rates, higher injury rates & please spare me having to go into the obvious in relation to cost of care, rehabilitation, benefits etc, etc. The human body is not built or wired to handle or deal with fast moving objects, safe to say the most unstable & falible thing in most vehicles is the soft squashy thing behind the wheel. Once we eliminate that, no more deaths on the road, except when the computer crashes & sends us of the highway, cause then will probably be programing error.................Ha Bored now, next subject someone please.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh.............. The voice of sense & reason prevails................... Thank you...............thought we may have had two further fatalities due to inability to operate a motor vehicle whislt using laptop in wireless hotspot. It has to be said that speed & stupidity are not merely the preserve of the young, however as we age so do we discover the desire to remain on this mortal coil by minimising the stupidity factor............ I personally never got my bike licence when I was young due to the firm belief that if I rode a motorbike the way I drove cars, I was never going to be anything more than a temporary citizen and would amount to nothing more than a greasy stain on the road. It is fair to say that most of us (Lads) seem to have far greater bravery than skill when we are young, I know from my own experiences I ran out of skill long before I ran out of bravado on a number of occassions and only by shear blind dumb luck did I emerge from those situations unscathed, did it make me a better driver, yes, did it make me less of a dickhead, no. Better driver yes, scared the sh*t out of me, slowed me down, learnt what the car would do in an overdriven situation. Dickhead, no, because I shouldnt have got so far ahead of my own ability, I shouldnt have been over driving a vehicle on public roads, and if the good luck hadnt been there, I could well have ruined an innocent persons life because I was to stupid to know better. So do we need far better driver training & compulsory track day & skid testing etc etc to gain a licence, hell yes............... Too often the first time anyone strikes having to deal with an emergency avoidance, panic braking, etc type of situation is when they are experiencing it for real.............the first time they discover they have no idea how to handle it is about a nanosecond later................the results speak for themselves, The one figure that we havent looked at is injuries from road accidents and permanent damage, these I have no doubt will be up dramatically, because whilst newer vehicles have a greater ability to disapate kinetic energy away from the passenger cell & airbags are huge in reducing the impact loads, as far as I am aware the human body hasnt evolved to the same extent and is still pretty crap at dealing with sharp & solid objects conecting with it at high speeds. Do I think our Roading Police policy makers are a bunch of dickheads................absolutely.................putting more Highway cars on the road is a visual deterant & has far greater pychological effect on drivers who knowingly drive dangerously, plus the fact that people driving unroadworthy cars may think twice about taken them out for a spin........... Note : unroadworthy vehicles does not mean modded vehicles with the correct paperwork etc, I agree that some police officers take delight in stckering vehicles that are roadworthy, just cause they can. It also has the effect of knowing you will lose points if you get pinged, not simply another hit in the pocket by some faceless machine........................ However we know that this is the key revenue stream to pay for the policing machine & of course pad out the govt coffers. So untill we get an altruistic Roading Police Force that is only there to enforce safer driving & promote greater use of common sense on the roads, we will keep hearing the same political puffery & retoric being spread about. What should be happening is that the open road speed limit be raised to 110km/h in a trial and if it is successfull, then it should be raied to 120km/h, this has been trialed in the USA in some States & has resulted in reductions in accidents & fatalities, however this needs to go hand in hand with greatly improved driver training & far higher standards to secure a drivers licence, and a change in approach regarding policing of our roads, that is to focus on poor driving habits, not simply speed. As I have always said, Speed will never kill you, but the sudden stops a bitch.................. Unfortunately using the former in the wrong place means the latter is never far away.......... Thats my rant, anyone want a new Transport Minister ??

Ha Ha, Women confuse me, I don't think I will ever figure them out........... I mean if NO means YES, Why am I sending this from my Prison cell !!

Caring for your BMW A bloke wins the lottery and decides to buy himself a BMW, he goes down to his local BMW Dealer and after purchasing a top of the range BMW, the owner of the shop tells him to coat the BMW in Vaseline every time it looks like raining. That night he goes and picks his girlfriend up in his new toy and heads over to her parents house for the first time. As they arrive there, she explains to him that whenever they have dinner, don't talk. "If you talk," she tells him, "you have to do the pots." The man is astounded as he walks into the house as it is a complete mess. Anyway, the family all sit down for dinner not saying a word. The man decides to take advantage of the situation by groping his girlfriend's tits, yet there is not a sound from anyone. So he decides to shag his bird on the table, and still there is not a word. He then proceeds to do his girlfriend's mum over the table, but still, amazingly, there's not a word from anyone. Just at that moment he notices the rain on the kitchen window and remembers his precious BMW, so he reaches into his pocket and flops the Vaseline out. At which point his girlfriend's dad leaps up and shouts, "Okay! Okay! I'll do the f**king pots!"

Two elderly ladies are sitting on the front porch, doing nothing. One old lady turns to the other and asks, "Do you still get horny?" The other replies, "Oh sure I do." The first old lady asks, "What do you do about it?" The second old lady replies, "I suck a lifesaver." After a few moments, the first old lady asks, "Who drives you to the beach?"

Had a e38 730 which had same setup on it when I purchased it, speedo was out by 10 Km/h at 100 Km/h was reading 110 Km/h, put it onto 18's & it certainly felt slower off the mark & less zippy, quite noticable given the overall smallish effect on gearing. Didnt effect abs tho. As everyone has said could be hubcentric rings or maybe propshaft dounut, sets up a vibe when it is on the way out.

Things that still bother me till this day.............. My Mum all ways used to say - "I'll thrash you to within an inch of your life !!" She was soo mad, what happened if she cocked up the measurement ?? When your Dad said - " this will hurt me more than it hurts you " Why didnt he let you smack him instead ?? I am still waiting to thank people later for all the times I've heard them say " you'll thank me later " Where are these people & why am I not yet in a position to do so ?? When ever you were really bad at school, you got sent to the headmaster, who did the headmaster get sent to when he was really bad...................His Mum ???? Why was cordory ( ? ) ever invented & why oh why did anyone let the dude who invented suede patches near a cordory jacket ?? How many moles in your average pair of moleskin jeans ?? & what did the poor mole ever do to you ?? Why are takeaways not called bringhomes ?? What do pigmys call us ?? If God ( in his multitude of forms ) is all about peace & understanding, why is everyone fighting about it ?? For all you conspiracy theorist out there........... Are you sure your car doesnt actually produce petrol & the pump actually sucks it out when your tank is empty ( full ) ?? If George Bush really did want peace in Iraq, why has he continued to buy shares in large military provider companies ?? What did happen to the third gun man on the grassy knoll ?? How come whenever you think you've got a bit of extra money to spend on your BMW, a mystery bill appears in the mailbox ?? And for everyone thinking I have far too much time on my hands........................you had the time to read it didnt you ??

noob search update and questions...
oldskool replied to BLACK DORIS's topic in New Member Introductions
Oopps, Nearly landed in it Westy, what did Obama say about putting lipstick on a pig again, fair doos tho, tidy e30's are getting harder to find without faults & oily & suspension bits are easier to sort than rusty bits, look at the number of m325i's being broken at the mo as point in case on that one, but have to say Tastic for a 318i non pwr str with over 200k's if you can get close to your ask you are doin well. Like the old saying goes - everythings for sale at a price .................. Black Dorris, old rule of thumb always applies, buy the best you money will get you & don't rush for the wrong car, there is plenty of choice still out there. Good luck to both of you -
Ha Ha, Classic, couple of possible lines to go with the pics..... 1. John vowed to never wash the Volvo with hot water ever again. 2. Bob wasnt sure if the Caddy was handling like a Boat, or the Boat was handling like a Caddy, either way it wasn't looking good. 3. Pete !!........Pete !! Ur bloody Lobster is humping my car again !! 4. Looks like the recession is even hitting the Clampets 5. I said build me a Vette that would get the girls in my bed, not build a bed in my Vette for the girls. 6. When Dave was told by his local Mazda dealer he could get two for the price of one, this wasn't quite what he had in mind. Please someone do better, brain fuzzy today.

Ha ha, LHD in a 520 touring would be the best way to go here, given that it couldnt pull the skin of a rice pudding, it will be excellent for watching the grass grow as you take gentle sunday drives with the labrador pushing out the back. Way too much money for what is really a lemon in a RHD market, it's not an M5 Touring or e30 M3. $1000 - $1200 & only if you have a big dog or several baby strollers, just don't be in a hurry to get anywhere. LOL

Can be done Brian, Have article in bmw mag with e36 m60 transplant & also done by alpina in e36 & knowing Brent he will find a way to get it to work. Will see if I can find article if your interested.

Hmmmmmmm, Heading could be taken as misleading advertising, but hey it has all the tasty bits, just need to check brakes suspension, etc, etc, etc. Don't think this is the same car as the green one that was sold from Akl & then resold not long after by the dude in the south island that Simon picked the 540i up from. Given how many hybrids are around these days, if its been done well & has all the right bits, its a bloody good buy. Do think they should disclose the rebodied part & also brings up insurance issues if it has not been updated & complied. Still be happy to have it tho.

Ray, Got to say, between the co name, car colour, plate & location, something was bound to happen some time. The freaky thing is the reflection (sic) in the 1st photo, looks like a yoda's ear or something..... Yup camera's do pic up ( ha punny ) all sorts of things that the human eye can't. Take it to the local Holly Car Wash & see what come out the exhaust pipe. Car looks great, very very nice.............probably just petrol head spooks hoping you will come back for a second shoot. Cheers Grant

Easy job hard much ? To many opinions fella, and I thought moving to small town NZ was were the parochial people lived. A few realities of Auckland traffic from one who lived in West Akl for years and did over 50,000 kms ayear most of it in the good old west. If you want a nice area handy to N.Lynn & quick to get there, look at Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay or Titirangi, reality is it will take 15 mins to get to work on an average day due to traffic flows in N.Lynn. As a Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay boy for years, there is good & bad areas, but you will be able to pick the difference pretty easy, traveling in from Te atatu sucks, as does from Henderson as Gt Nth road travels slow as anything and any other back way leads you on to main feeders again. If you can start an 9 then you will be sweet no matter where you are. Parnell or Ponsonby can also take forever, trust me, did it for two years and drove me nuts, going to work is great, coming home - maddening. Auckland is a great place, you will enjoy it, but the one thing you want to avoid if pos is wasting 1 - 2 hours a day sitting in traffic just to get to & from work............... There is more to life than the job fella. P.S. sold real estate in west auckland for over 10 years, so if you want a heads up on good spots drop me a line. Good luck with the job & the move, enjoy it.

I see your e30 B6 & raise you an e24 B7..............

Ok, So I know it wasnt ever anything other than a styling excersise, but it did spawn the M1, so I think it has to be said there is none better than the Turbo, and thats saying something from the man who believes there is no better BMW than Jimmy Richards Grp A 635. And yes I know the pic is of Dennys old car not Jim's

At $41k now and within 15% of reserve so possibly $45 - $47k would take it away, purhaps a smige less if it doesnt meet reserve.

Hmmmmmmmm, Not a shame it has been converted if it has been done properly, which no doubt it would have been given the value of the car at the time..................given the alternative of being a LHD that can't be registered without a whole lot of hullabuloo, I would say not a bad option if it can be secured for the right money............ Doug........you could have twins !!
