Good to know. Pretty keen on getting some for my M3 but not sure which ones to get. Looks like ABS isnt a go.

Fek me thats tidy! Last one of them i saw on TM was local, with high as KM and under $10K. Was really rough in comparison though. Pretty cool cars, be a great toy and cheaper than an E30 M3. Take a bit of getting used to the dogleg box.

Paid a man in Auckland some money for his E36 M3. Now to wait for the truck to bring it down to me.

Hi, as per title, after some E36 bits. After a complete arm rest for a coupe, in black, with all required parts (console, bolts, trim etc). Good condition. Also require two matching fog lamps in good condition. I need a complete tool kit from coupe (M3 if it makes any difference). Heater valves (in engine bay) to suit an early E36 coupe (with the analogue dual temp) PM me if you can help.

There is often good advice and discussion in this forum about cars on TM, but obviously when someone is asking silly money ($30k) for an e39 540i people are going to have a laugh. Its human nature really, and will happen on any forum. The problem here is that there are more and more cars worth a laugh on TM, so the laughs are almost constant. Maybe one stickied thread for TM Laughs, where they can all be lumped together, and then separate threads for cars actually worthy of a discussion. Thats how most other forums deal with it.

I love LMs. Such a classic wheel that never seem to look bad, no matter what its on.

"one lady owner, used on the weekend. Never done skids. Goes hard."

Its already been said but in light of what Ray has said, ill say it again. You cant sell a car for what it owes you, itll just never sell. Doesnt matter to the vast majority of people that the engine and box are brand spankers, its still only worth what a manual E39 is worth (and its certainly not the only manual one around), which is a crap load less than what he is asking.

Always makes me a bit sus when someone sells a car stating "no issues, but comes with a spare auto trans if wanted". Indeed its pretty up there in price, but that interior is pretty sweet.

Brents car is the exception, not the rule IMO. The car was exposed to a very harsh environment for a long time. Sun will ruin paint pretty quickly.

i dont know what youre trying to get at, but the M3 linked in the OP (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=709320659) is a genuine M3 according to its chassis code, not that converted 318 that was passed around a while back.

Sorted. Cheers

Same issue i had on my E36. For me it was the buggered wiring in the boot hinge. Also coincided with the boot lock not triggering the central locking. The second time i had the issue, it was a stuffed brake light switch (and then the cheap replacement i fitted. Only a genuine switch fixed it).

The other aspect to it, is if its easy to remove and steal there is usually less damage to the panel as they dont have to try and dig the part out with a screw driver A new trim or badge is cheaper than panel work.

Yo. Ex-Yoobee employee now Andy Yes, for any machine to go upto 10.7 (Lion) you will need to install it from within the App store, which is only available on 10.6 (snow leopard). The exception to this rule is when you have an installer on a disk/usb drive, as you can use that to do a fresh install. Going from 10.4 to 10.6 is a PITA and usually results in erasing and reinstalling everything anyway, so try and get hold of an installer for 10.7 and just install fresh. Also keep in mind that 10.6 requires 1GB ram minimum (or it wont install), and 10.7 requires 2GB ram (havent tried to install it on less, but i wouldnt bother if you dont have 2GB). According to the serial the machine should handle 10.7 OK provided it meets the ram requirements. IMO and as Andy mentioned, i'd actually go with 10.6 on such an old machine, 10.7 was bit of a dog even on more recent/powerful machines and lots of issues werent fixed until 10.8 (which your machine doesnt support). Hope this helps

I considered purchasing a diesel last year (Golf TDI, wicked cars) but for the amount of KM i travel, the RUC just seemed ridiculous so i ended up with an efficient petrol car (although not as efficient as that TDI!). Im all for a RUC drop for passenger cars, it appears very overdue in my eyes. I wouldnt mind paying RUC still, if it took what the car was into consideration and didnt just lump it in with all the other diesel vehicles under 3.5 Tons, thus had a more reasonable cost.

1995 Avus Blue 540iS ~ it's on sale again, FINALLY!
KwS replied to lord_jagganath's topic in TradeMe discussions
just FYI, i was not arguing the fact that the 540iS is a model, i was arguing that sticking an M5 or 544i badge on a 540i doesnt make it anything different. In saying that though, Yes, the cars were indeed registered as a 540iS, but its a well known fact that when first registering a car you can put almost anything on the rego label. Doesnt mean it is one. Its like when people register cars as 540iA.... because its an auto.
