@ Dan, I vowed myself to never buy another E30 unless it was a real M3 or a gen. Alpina B6 after this one, a huge claim I know and hopefully I don't eat my words. Want to get a bit of practice doing the intermarques in this car before branching out, how many university students do you know in the race series that are paying their own way???

195/45/R15 + my 15 x 8 borb's + slammage = do it

Well just put some 70mm compressed M325i springs in the rear. The mismatched ride height is gone and I now have something that resembles stance in the rear. Yay

Sorted thanks to Oli

Haha nah, this one will get a cage and become dedicated race car in a couple years and a M5x/S5x, then I will come play in the open class need to graduate first and earn some moolah before that though. Can see it now, S54 powered Alpina C1 Replica...mwhahahahahaha.

^ Don't take that I mean't to imply it was anything to do with you Dan, I guess I am a perfectionist and when you go hunting for things, things don't always work the same as when you started It is now worthy of being something special in its current guise, just wait and see It is all just a hobby anyway, abeit a frustrating one. I feel a lot better after reading some of these, the car is so close to being finished, but with any project it is the little things that you seem to spend the most time on. Cheers guys

^ Hahaha Glenn. One of the many benefits of having a electric sunroof

^ Nah they are black, maybe it is the springs? I don't know how old they are Yellow springs are traditionally Kings

Okay so I have 40mm Eibach springs in the rear of my E30. I seem to get the drivers side sitting about 1-1.5 inches lower in relation to the arch->tyre gap than the passengers side. I have heard of this being relatively common in a E30 due to the fuel tank etc. Have barely marginal difference regardless of whether it is full of fuel or not. Is it possible that the springs on that particular side have sagged? Or could it be something worse like a bent rear trailing arm/subframe? Or am I just worrying about nothing, it drives fine, just mainly for aesthetic reasons only at this stage. Any hints are appreciated, I am going to try some different springs in the meantime to see if it solves the issue. The shocks are nearly brand new Koni E30 race series adjustables if that makes any diff. Could one of them have collapsed? Any other thoughts? Cheers, Nath

So after having a ultra shitty day with nothing going to plan on the E30, I pondered whether I am the only one who has luck like this and should be driving something that isn't a e30. Whoever said an E30 was god's chariot was a bloody optimist! So post what the car was, the list of problems you had with it and how long you have/had it before you sold it/still got it/parted it out. Mainly because I am rapidly losing patience with mine and wondered if anyone has luck like mine Had a few people mention that I seem to have the problem of anything that could go wrong, has gone wrong. '85 E30 325i Owned for one year. Total mileage in a year = 2,000 km (that is all that really needs to be said to get the jist of what owning this car has been like). Main Problems (not common day to day ones): 1. Had the car fill up with water twice and require carpet out, interior strip etc. 2. Snapped fan belt at track day 2. 2 wing mirrors got smashed off in one day 3. Found 5 rust holes in the floor of my car in one go, including one the size of my fist 4. Gear shifter fall apart on the only bimmersport meet I have ever brought a car to 5. At the same meet my glovebox locked itself and broke the lock in the process 6. Wheel nuts worked themselves loose en route to a track day 7. Had the car fail to start the day before my LVV cert test 8. Snapped rocker cover bolts twice 9. Destroyed a drive shaft mounting assembly 10. Electrical fire under the dash after ignition wires shorted out 11. A headlight and fog light smash after following a stock truck the day I brought the car 12. Found 3 exhaust studs missing and 4 snapped off in the process of removing the exhaust manifold A lot of you would think some of that is operator error but I don't think I deserved half of that Someone make me feel better and post something just as depressing...haha.

Porsche GT3 RS driven by François Delecour *must see*
Forrest replied to hybrid's topic in Videos & Sound
Cheers for posting that Josh, that was awesome. I used to be a big fan of Delecour when he was here for Rally NZ. Chris Harris's facials are priceless. -
^ Mark the Moderator. It is comedy gold.

^ You have to wonder sometimes whether people actually want to sell a car or not

Hahahahahahaha the man never fails to disappoint. Comedy gold.

^ Pretty sure you are too late Marky

^ Yeah the adjustment screw in the AFM needs to be calibrated by someone with the right gear though, its no use me trying to fix it. Might try modifying my bracket for the AFM so it is horizontal as well then. The screw on the TB won't go any further without stopping the TPS switching on and off.
-
^^ Yip, so now I need to find out how to raise it. I want to say and I think Haynes says my AFM needs to be recalibrated but I am unsure,..unless my rev counter is out though? Anyone know where to go next in terms of raising the idle? The car has brand new exhaust gaskets, vacuum hoses and all of the above work stated earlier in this thread.

Pretty sure research is more important than patience, because if you did research before starting this, your patience wouldn't be tested as much...common sense IMO.

Can't do skids anymore since my LSD is wrapped in cotton wool now...no more clutch drops for me

Okay so I adjusted it so its still clicking but only after the teeniest amount of throttle movement and clicking on the way back, and it is just back to around 500rpm idle, didn't stall so stoked, must have been hearing things lucky I re-checked it. Thanks Max

^ Yip I have read that, followed it and I think I have sorted it now. Woo
