  1. ^ He is quite busy driving trucks most days of the week, so don't expect a reply for a few days. He is really helpful once you arrange something though, top bloke.
  2. Good stuff Matt, will enjoy the future progress, pictures, pictures, pictures. Good luck.
  3. Thanks Michael for that, appreciate it.
  4. After ringing Glenn I am now on the tangent to see if the ignition switch has correct voltage and if it needs to be replaced. Thinking the electrical fire may have melted the terminals on the switch, not allowing the car to start properly etc. Towing the car home soon so can do some investigating.

^ I made my own, its not that hard. Adhesive green paper is your friend
  6. Made this thread because there is too much crap to sort through on the internet and I have had a google. E30 PFL 325i M20 Motronic 1.1 So on Sunday I had problems starting my car. Left it a while and later on it started again fine. Drove it on Tuesday all is well. Tuesday night I go to a BMW workshop to get my headlights aligned. As I arrive, the car dies. Spent all night trying to fix it. While it was being looked at, we can confirm: - The fuel pump relay works and was clicking, even replaced with another one from a car that started fine. - The fuses associated to the fuelling are fine. - The ECU is fine, it was swapped into another e30 and started up fine. - There is plenty of fuel in it. - It is getting spark. - When it is going the fuel pump seems to be pulsing fine. - We couldn't manage to get the test light to light up while the key was turned in the ign to the on postition or while trying to start it. Eventually gave up and left it at the workshop with a flat battery. Come back in the morning and the battery has miraculously re-charged itself and it starts first pop and has done until about ten min ago when it died while going round the block and is now parked up in a church parking lot. Lol. I have heard that fuel pumps be stubborn and then work then not work etc when they are on their way out, so that is a possibility, but doesn't explain the no power issue. Also with further research have found that when the ign is turned on the fuel pump turns on for 3-4 seconds. It might not be related, but last week I had a wire short out under the dash and caught fire to my ign switch wiring I had installed, is there a possibility that the melting of those wires has shorted the wire that goes from the steering column to the fuel pump? Also thought maybe the plug the fuel pump relay goes into maybe dirty and causing a bad connection, thoughts? Hope there is enough info there for someone to go from. Any help is appreciated, I have already had to re-book my LVV cert test once because of the car not going, so I am hoping to sort this asap. Cheers, Nathan
  7. Haha good point. I might hore myself out, sure the missus would love that...
  8. Wow so keen, student budget may not stretch to cover this though. Fingers crossed.
  9. Instead of spamming the forum with new threads...I have a couple queries regarding my E30 and finishing off some little bits and bobs. - Where is the windscreen wiper relay in a E30? /what would cause the wipers to not work on two of the settings? - Is it advisable to torque up rear subframe mount nuts with a rattle gun? I am struggling to get mine as tight, with enough thread through the nut visable since swapping from original rubber to urethane rear mounts. Have used a strong arm bar but can't seem to get them as tight. Will add to this as I iron out a couple last issues. Cheers and thanks in advance.

    Group Buy

Don't worry. Most group buys on this forum turn to sh*t anyway, I have given up trying.
  12. Personally, I think a car becomes worth scrapping if the price to fix it (assuming there is something wrong with it) outweighs the price to buy another one exactly the same. Did this when I crashed my E30, the price to get it back the way it was worked out more than a replacement, so I replaced it.
  13. This is even better. Posted countless times on here out of pure badassness.
  14. Sounds like a Tui Billboard. "Simon*, not stating the obvious since ages ago". ha
  15. ^ Not that urgent, I think I might have 'fixed' it anyway re: rangi mods thread hahaha.

  17. Does anyone have any leftover, I only need like 30cm worth, so don't really want to buy a ginormous roll. Cheaper the better. Cheers, Nathan
  18. n00b as question, but where can I go to get my E30 headlights aligned? I would rather not do it myself and risk making them worse. Cheers

Looking good Blair, must be time for some new wheels
  20. Just to add an update to this, went to see Paul and he said to wait till it goes bang Putting the spacer in will require a rebuild regardless so will wait till it breaks then do a full re-build then. Sadly no more 6k clutch drops for me though in the mean time, but the last time I did that I destroyed the driveshaft, so its a blessing in disguise.
  21. Good work Dave, keep it going
