  1. search bmw forums for "seat twist".One of your drive cables has prolly come out of the motor or gear..the housings "stretch" and eventually pull the cable out.Fix is to shorten the cable housing at one end so cable engages again.I presume the motors work...ie make a noise
  2. i have a contact at jeff gray...he will do it for me if you give me(pm me if you like) the vin
  3. i went in to Jeff Grays once and it took the guy about 30 seconds..log in.... punch in the chassis number..bingo..print
  4. it somehows attaches behind the rear bumper, there will be a cover in the middle of your bumper cover....Ollie went through this a while ago on his e 34..you might want to check the respective ball sizes of your tow ball and the trailer...Surely BMW is the easiest way?
  5. might be a UK import...isnt this the same guy who had the blue e39 M5?what happened to that anyone know?
  6. depending on the actual size of the tyres a wheel /tyre matching the original size may well be a option...many tyre places may have wheels and tyres cheap as they have been taken of cars when people upgrade...zenetti a member here may be able to help.
  7. buy the dvd unit (mark iv) or mark III of ebay (i bet jochen will pot up some links),the mk 3 is an older unit and uses cd instead of dvd, would think mk 3 would be ok for nZas our map is only i cd as opposed to say the US which is several.I am sure Jochen will come back with the advantages of each,Mk 3 cheaper than mk iv

    The X5 V8

is there a carbon fibre look nstead of the silver trim?...Cains 540 (an e34 ) has a kinda black stained timber woodgrain...another option perhaps??Is the x5 trim the same as the 540??

    My 740i

yes both five and sevens are very good value,as both are suffering from the petrol price thing...however unles you are comparing one of the to a small car i dont think the difference is all that great..just a perception thing IMO,that and the fact that mot people think all euro crs have very dear parts /servicing
  11. basically same engine(and g box if auto) and many of the cars switchgear etc will be identical. The 540 motosport wont ride as nicely as the 7 but will handle better. This assumes that everything else is equal ie that the 540 has had as much care as yur 7 must have had....
  12. classic e 34 problem....its the LKM in the engine fuse box compartment, long thin rectanglar black box with LKM written on it.If you are confient at soldering you can reflow the solder around the mini relays... http://www.bmwe34.net/Wiki/tiki-index.php?page=LKM+and+Relay
  13. you are supposed to keep left at all times....on a multi lane road keep left unless overtaking...
  14. in 1989 that would be more than two houses...
  15. strangely enough that is the function of the idle control valve
  16. gee get over it..not everyone considers M3's to be the pinnacle of BMW ownership. In fact the only time i have been in an (E36) M3 I thought it was a heap of shite...(albeit a very nice sound track)
  17. ignition switches cause problems on e 39s...voltage drops.Didnt another 540 owner have similar probs recently(Huttey?)
  18. broomm ftw... have copped it a couple of times though...windy day at petrol stations whilst topping off oil mid service interval...see bonnet coming down.... brace yourself so oil doesnt go everywhere(dont forget e 34 pivots from front, oil filler on rear of engine)
  19. car model year etc should be mandatory part of profile or sig...
