  1. when i bought my 535 the obc said 17 l 100 k and i bought off a guy who lived in ponsonby and worked at tvnz...Although my car is a manual i honestly dont think a 540 would be any worse. It could be though if you always want to be first to the other side of the intersection
  2. i spose it depends where you come from...I remember the first Mk 2 jag I saw with its row of switches.... The e34 with the radio and the obc looks quite busy..i like that.In comparison the e60 looks like it hasnt got any controls at all, which just doesnt seem right to me...
  3. bmw s arent traffic light rocketships...IMO
  4. hey easy mate....i drove a 530 d,and i just didnt think the interor gave me any sense of "occasion".See to me the e34 and e 39 with all the buttons and so on make it look hi tech...the e60 seemed too simple..and like just about any other modern car
  5. i must admit i hated the 5 series when it came out,but the M sport versions do look good to me now.Interiors very disapointing for a well over 100 thou car e 65 sevens are ugly tho..and the compacts do look a bit suspect proportion wise. And although i hate the suv crowd i do like the x6....BMW have never pretended they are off roaders, they call them sports activity vehicles..and if you need the interior space.....I think i would choose an x6 over an x5(and i am astonished to hear myself say that!)
  6. same recipe as you have already followed...lower it a bit and some bigger sway bars,or a 740 sport.Dont know if we had them but the yanks make a big deal about them.not sure about the wheels but i would say 18 max before you lose ride
  7. 5 series offset is typically 20 mm,3 series offset is ussually 35-40 mm as zenetti has already said
  8. they are five series offset, prolly et 20
  9. in that case i need a massive discount for bimmersport members!
  10. surely this is a bad vent or something...build up of hydrogen, very flammable..just cos a battery is old doesnt make it spontameously combust does it???
  11. yes...try to find out what is wrong first....
  12. the left hand park ights may be on cause you have the indicator stalk pushed all the way to the "left"..feature on some euro cars(ie my e34) You can leave half of your parking lights on all night.
  13. mtech will be slightly lower slightly stiffer and bigger sway bars. The stiffness may well be due to the stiffer sway bars.It is not the same as the genuine article(ie the suspension found on an M3 or M5)
  14. carfax relies totally on what was said when it was registered....not reliable.BMW vin/build sheet is the only way to see what was optioned on the vehicle, even then it wont necesarily show up as an "m" car,as far as BMW AG were concerened they were a 325 with a few options....it was the dealers who made the big song and dance about them...
  15. the tv is trying to draw the english flag..
  16. looks nice,and completely unmolested!Good work!
  17. i know a bit of toe in makes the car feel great to turn in but it does make slightly less positive in the straight ahead..The "sports suspension settings" on teh e 34 has more toe in than stock..also means the outside edges of the front tyres will wear out
  18. one of the nicest cars i have driven...dont know the model code but the 944 look alike, loved the free smooth revving nature, quite torquey too in the mid range, nice handling but very disapointed i could not fit in the first batmobiles(I am 6 3)
  19. it could cost much much much more if you dont....
  20. black ftw...i dont care if it takes more care,it looks the business!
  21. the lsd only 25 per cent lock up .If you drive hard enough the spin the back wheels up and therefore lose traction with the lsd(ie both back wheels spinning and large cornering force = almost total loss of grip in the wet) you will prolly already have lost it before that...lsd or not
  22. the lsd adds hugely to grip if things are a bit slippery, think sharp uphill corners esp in the wet,or standing starts in the wet but if both wheels do start spinning in slippery conditions then its hard to keep or get control back. The rear end grip can overpower the front wheel grip in very slippery conditions .Most cars dont have LSD and you prolly dont lose anything excepet for "extreme" circumstances, but the e34 with a lsd has lots and lots of rear end grip. Its nice to have but not essential..the 540 would prolly benefit more, and most have asc instead.
  23. i think you will find the module is more than the towbar...
