    BUGGER!

any place that lets me drive the new M3 must be alright!
  2. +1 for being there in the evenings can only realy see the flames then...was in the hawkes bay when we went a few years in a row.
  3. consider road user charges(about 33 dollars every 1000 kays(and up to a 10 dollar fee everytime you need some more).Maintenance may also be more than petrol cars. And deisel stinks, and every well used pump will have deisel all over the ground around it. However as you say the torque is addictive and the turbo surge is fun.If i owned one i would seriously consider having a glove or similar to keep the &^%$ of my hands,i dislike the smell so much.Drove a little Hyundai getz 1.5 deisel, very impressive, and amazing economy figure...4.5 l 100 ks and available in manual!
  4. this is a must do.If you ever get the chance go to a proper drag meet, where the top funny cars, bikes and rails will be running. The bikes give the feeling and look of accelleration, cos they launch and then accellerate, the top cars though(if we can call them that) look like they are an arrow shot from a bow,the accelleration seems instantaneous...then there are the other sensations, the chest cavity vibrating noise, the smells, and in the evening the brilliant white flames from the exhausts.....do it.
  5. if you look on real oem and punch in your vin then go and check your diff it should tell you the ratio and if its a lsd or not...
  6. if your car is suitable use synthetic oil .Dont sit there warming it up.This is not necesary. You dont acheive anything, just drive her carefully until it is at the proper temp.Use the minimum oil viscosity, then it pumps as soon as your engine starts, this is when almost all the wear occurs, the first few seconds of running with virtually no oil pressure.Warm Down?only required with a turbo. You can still floor it,just not in the first few minutes.I never detour for petrol i drive past a couple odf stations every day,and run my tank from full to empty.

    BUGGER!

the e34 heater/valve/pump system the e39 heater.valve pump system not such a nightmare of hoses etc,but similar and situated in about the same place in the car(back right of engine)looking from front
  8. yes engine issues at least will be common for the M62..

    BUGGER!

i would assume its a hose and or heater valves/pump(does the e39 use the same system as the e34).If the temp didnt show as hot i would say you havent done any damage.... yet....I think I saw you a week or two ago, just south of the traffic lights at Jville railway bridge,at around 5pm
  10. define M car...you could say your car is an M car if you have a "motorsport" gearknob.Sports seats, sports suspension, and bodykits are the relatively modern intrepretation of an M car. The proper ones will have BMW M POWER on the cam covers, and as many individual throttle bodies as there are cylinders.
  11. reliable=dealer,it may even be cheaper to bring one in ....
  12. both,but 116 118 118d 120 120 d 0nly it seems
  13. sounds like the engine in the 535d..still a 3 litre but twin turboed...a lot of the UK guys chip them and apparently the low end performance is amazing ..I think we have started to get them here.
  14. Its unique in that there arent many manuals..Its nt so desireable tho in that its still there, cant remember when it first came up.
  15. kms not really an issue bar the normal e 39 faults....it may be time for some cooling system refurbishments....the Schnitzer stuff is really only the bodykit i think.I have some more pics of it.Is it back on TM?
  16. autohaus in Rotorua still have the black "S5" six speed manual 540.
  17. the V8 diesel in the 740 is absolutely unbeleivable..i think its well over 200 kw! edit...no its not The BMW 740d, in turn, develops maximum output of 190 kW or 258 bhp at 4,000 rpm and maximum torque of 600 Nm or 442 lb-ft between 1,900 and 2,500 rpm.
  18. the m57 is considerably heavier than the M62,which is heavier gain than the M54,ie 160 kg vs 140kg vs 126
  19. true 3 pedals true...I beleive the pressure for e 34 M5 with 17s is something like 39/42!Even 36 though is a bit more than the OP is running.
  20. IMHO you are running the tyres too soft...not sure what size you run,but i run my 17 high 30s .Sometimes (read when entering a corner too fast and on the brakes) you can feel a tendency to push, otherwise its pretty neutral the attitude of the car doesnt really change when getting and or off the throttle mid bend, the rear end of these cars stick like glue
  21. the 535 has lsd...not actually that helpful on the grass..its either full on oversteer or if the back wheels hook up the fronts cant cope
  22. I can look and tell you of any obvious faults and advise of general condition....yes?I wonder if i could take it to the grass ghymkhana on sunday
  23. again its early, but I think toyota will be closer to bmw this season ,Trulli was quick .This will make it interesting as any slip up by ferrari or maclaren may let bmw and maybe toyota through to take a place or two(as with LH pit stop)
  24. wasnt going to mention that
