  1. in my experience you can see the new fluid coming through.....ideally you need three people..one pumping, one topping up the resevoir and you at the caliper watching for new fluid.....
  2. my car had 147 000 ks when i got it,and i switched then...what do you think I should do now???
  3. i have done the best part of 100.000 k using castrol synthetic.....i like the fact that the 5w pumps very quickly form cold....what is the problem?dont forget the viscosity at the other end is 30....what should i check ?I use a little bit, i have some leaks at the timing cover.I ussually have to top up prt way through the full SI usually the first decent road trip .
  4. you should be ok...i drove one and had heaps of room.(vijay had one)
  5. true ..I guess the race seats are no good for what you need....I know a guy in the wairarapa who has one(a m535 no less) and there is a nice one round here i see sometimes...if i see it i will follow him.....
  6. http://www.bimmer.info/forum/showthread.php?t=36782 get in touch with this guy,I think he has done three...US site so there may be some diferences.
  7. you should this one is local http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C....htm?key=396487
  8. Our Mazda Bounty Ute at work(flatdeck) is quite fun, quite noticeable turbo boost, and if you get the timing and revs just right it absolutely launches out of slowish corners.....and is quite a hoot from traffic lights, thats it though....
  9. i got mine done cheap...the guy who rear ended me paid for most of it(bonnet, front lip)
  10. you were at The BBQ sunday...kevin bought in that 120.....from japan i assume
  11. it will do a lot more ks too if you look after it.
  12. they can be chipped the uk has places....thats actually quite a nice spec car maybe it can be cleaned professionally, not many of the deisels seem to have the sports seats... The deisels can be deceptively quick...but yeah the 530 d i drove was quite impressive but also kinda boring....very linear power band
  13. 250 would have included several litres of castrol synthetic....you might be able to reach the sump plug without jacking but you will also need a pretty flat "dish",please recycle the oil.
  14. the original ones were 13 mm offset for thr 8,s and 25mm for the 9.5,s.I made a big post last night about how to meaure them but its gone
  15. i am sure the radio can be fixed because it wil be a "world radio",although maybe with the i drive its al more complex....really hope you get things sorted,be so satisfying to have that car just as you like it!
  16. sometimes people say M for manual (same way as most auto bmw are 535ia) others say the NZ "sports" are M as they were badged with the //M badge from the dealer(no 535 badge). Its confusing because the E28(i think) did have an M535 and it did have a more powerful engine.I think the nz "sports" have a 3.64 diff instead of the 3.46 of the std 535.
  17. all e 34 535s have the same engine...no such thing as M535 in the e 34.Most NZ 535s would have been very well specced from new being (at the time) top of the line apart frpom the M5.
  18. its what shelleys put in .....but i have,nt been using it lately, and strangely oil consumption seems to have gone up...
  19. i wait for the light its about 12000 k for me,but my car gets a good run each day.I ussually use castrol synthetic( cheapish from dealer with cc discount).I think there is an override for time, check owners manual
  20. was tough last night,co s my favourite 5 forum was down too!
  21. i have a bentleys repair manual for 89-95 5 series BMW....virtually unused $US50 at the moment.
  22. i am sure battery could be relocated to side of boot, that prolly where non rft cars have the battery, than as zenetti say have the spare in there but flat......use the compressor to pump it up.
  23. increasing unsprung weight is not a desireable thing...there may be electronic means of mitigating effects but neverless it is not good for roadholding/ride
  24. punch in your chassis number here http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi or http://www.realoem.com/bmw/ latter one also good for getting /comparing part numbers
