Most modern manuals need the clutch pushed in before you can startt em(well the 120d did)
-

bloody litterbugs. Why do people find it so difficult to take the sh*t home and put it in the bin there instead of just tossing it out the window.Ussually Macdonalds bags or Plastic drink bottles. Now that i travel every back road i can find,i was astounded to find at the top of Strathmore Saddle on SH43 a whole lot of litter only a few metres from a rubbish bin!

the best thing about the e28 is that they are relatively light.Braking, acceleration and turning benifit. As other s have said they are OLD.They will not fare well in a coliision with anything substatial and or modern
-
prolly cause they are designed as LHD cars origianlly???
-
keep it stock ,but make it like new without spending a fortune. That will make it as desireable as it can be when you sell.If you plan to drive it back in a month, book online asap, you will get a reasonable fare

E60 vs E90, thoughts and opinions welcome
kiwi535 replied to DR1FTMONKEY's topic in General Discussion
only one downside to an E60 vs an e90 in NZ.You will not find an e60 manual,if that matters -
there is a place in auckland that does em,and you coud always try the dealer. Its a good idea to spend a bit more to ensure the mats stay where they are supposed to with clips etc,Maybe even get some "rubber" ones for the winter.

if fuel is a consideration i think a e60 M5 is out of the question.Genarally a 5 series will always be better appointed and a nicer car, that is after all how BMW build them.A 5 series may even be better value than a 3 series because many people dont even consider a 5 series -
gwagen....could be some coin in one of them.Do you know an ordinary 3 l diesel g wagen is 175 000 here!

dont wait for ten years till next time(i bet thats what she said too)

same...raining and dark, sodium street lamps(the yellow ones) one of the flashing pedestrian lights was out,the woman must have walked quickly straight of the footpath, only saw her at the last minute, dressed completely in dark colours incl a hood only saw her face and hands!
-
the 540s are very highly geared no rocket ship of the line.I am not saying a e34 wont be fun but they are not a 3 series . dont discount a nice 535 .1700 kilo plus you
-
people who cycle or walk at dusk in completely dark clothing they dont realise how hard they are to see!And again people who drive in the same conditions with no lights on
-
a "motorsport" 540 will almost certainly have sport seats as well. They are worth it.A 540 is a heavy car,and a well optioned one will be pushing about 1700 kilos .On a real windy road you will always be aware of that weight. They have good grip and good balance .Much more solid feeling car than a e36 a 540 manual(six speed) will almost certainly be a full motorsport version ,they are quite rare though

Not,he said GOOD

Can you buy a better car for the cost of the timing chain repair?

i got a "80 percent " chip for my 120d.nicer to drive, revved faster ,revved right to redline with less drop off at the top of the rev range.I thought about a bigger or more effective intercooler too but nothing more. The reason for the 80 percent is i stressed i wanted to retain good economy.Wehter or not that was a good idea i dont know but the differnce was def noticeable.I cant back up with any figures.NZ performance Tuning, they came to me and did it on the side of the road at work!
