320i E36 Head Gasket Repair Advice in Wellington
kiwi535 replied to StephenMarkB's topic in Maintenance
head gasket gone does not mean the engine will be damaged in any way.I had a 535 with a "blown headgasket".It checked out ok but i knew something wasnt right.Would start on 5 cylinders then immediately come right. This slowly got more and more frequent, along with increased coolant use(it always used a bit of coolant i think it had a heater core leak)Eventtually i asked Page European to check and they said that everything checked out ok.But i asked them to do it anyway and sure enough it was leaking between 5 and 6.I was intending to keep the car forever, and it cost a small fortune to do all the things that showed any sign of abnormality. They will be a good place to start.Home street wellington.Ask them how much first! -
Gerry wont mind Andy, there will be an email addy on the club website too president @?????

WTF is it with daylight saving?. I can only attribute the lack of lights to this .Last night driving home i was follwing a ute with no lights on.I flashed him a couple of times, with no result.A little later i was in front of him on a two lane road, and i breifly turned my lights of,then on again.Again no response. He did have his nice bright DRLs on though, unlike the idot at the Ngaio roundabout who i nearly drove out in front(dark coloured soft roader with no lights at all whilst not signalling his right hand turn) or the lady who pulled out of the supermarket with no lights on either.!

unfortunately you are wrong. Many many many spandex wearing cyclists have bikes worth many many times an e30

I can take or leave top gear .I used to watch it at any opportunity. Its not top gear its the jeremy clarkson show. Its sorta about cars but its mostly clarkson poking fun at the short guy,the slow guy,the germans, waxing lyrical about Mercedes,(mostly) harping on about BMW buses, trains and vauxhalls.

BMW 530i Series 5 1994 V8 + 6 Speed Manual ( RARE AS ! )
kiwi535 replied to kiwi328i's topic in TradeMe discussions
the wheels are ridiculous imho.A manual 540 would be ok,thats all it is -
Clarkson is an arrogant twat.He has a unique view of things and can be amusing.Thats it.Top gear is well past it.

dont beleive everything you read in dog and lemon or on the internet. Here is a heads up.There is a risk with owning ANY car.If you get a BMW with a good service history and keep on top of its maintenance i suggest it wont be any more expensive to own than any other car that you maintain to the same standard.BMWs are fine cars and have a deserved reputation for being a fabulous drive. They are not without fault .But neither are MOST other cars. If you want a cheap reliable car with minimal risk stick to Toyotas and NIssans but they wont reward you with anything more than cheap day to day transport.
