I've seen that before somewhere. I don't think the doors are flexible (where would the glass go?) - they just slide under the car. Certainly something different and less showy than scissor doors. Also, if designed right, they potentially could be manual - ie not electric. Roll down window, pull handle - spring pushes door out from car, then a slight push down to overcome another spring/strut and it would dissappear. Downside would be bending down to haul it back up.

I did extra coats on the indicators to make them red and they indicate red. WOF rules state rear indicators must be red or amber, fronts white or amber and sides amber only. So being red isn't a problem.

Can I join in?? My car was spotted in Kerikeri two days ago and a note left on my windscreen. Does that count??? It wasn't me though - lent the car to my g/f. BTW BMWE30 is Cales old?/current? red mtech I

I used red window stain (in a spray can) followed by clear coat (also in a can).

No, but done properly most WOF places won't notice. If you buy "proper" ones that use red plastic, not a tint spray, then they are legal. WOF rules state: Tinting It is illegal to apply any kind of tint film, tint paint or opaque sticker to any lamp which has a function other than decoration (eg non-cosmetic).

I couldn't do that to the Ministry of Education Gus. If I started taking blowies as payment you'd be trying to resit 6th form. And I don't think I want to be responsible for unleashing you back into the school system. I'm going to take $30. I won't get out of bed for $15. I don't have a maths degree, but did third-year maths papers as part of my degree, and was offered a spot in the mathematics honours programme which I turned down. I don't really want to do it, its a favour for my boss, and only for 4-6 weeks. Even at $30 I feel like I'm doing it cheap. It's not as if I have bucketloads of free time.

Don't lie Joseph. You just wanted to skite. Accessing those OBC lights is a bitch. I too remember my first projects on my first e30. Everything was new. I can remember taking a hour to figure out how to remove the instrument cluster. i think I'd be under 3 mins - 5mins with my eyes closed. Competition idea for next bsport meet???

Sweet, had $30 an hour in my head, so might go with that.

I really like it. Ray, please post up with results of the headers opnce installed. Would love to know if they are as good as they are made out to be.

I've been asked to help tutor the son of a friend of my boss in 6th form maths for his upcoming exams. I helped my sister with hers about 2 years ago so relatively au fait with the curriculum, and the maths itself is a cakewalk, but I have no idea what to charge them. Anyone know the going rate?

Ok I'm sold on those lights now. Totally different style than anything else on here and done really well!! I never though those wheels and lights could be pulled off, but you have. Very japanese like you said early on, but so far you havn't wrecked it. Nice work!! Must be costing you plenty! P.S. I love all the little black detailing - the wheels and the lights really bring them out. This would be the first ever e46 I'd say DONT colour code the door handles. Only thing negative I could say is that with the bonnet you have, its going to start looking alot like a monaro.

Sweet looking e34. not many in that colour and even less that colour and to that spec.

Nice! that would have been a fun drive!

There's nothing wrong with Uniden, but it's been said before, and I'll say it again: The quality of the alarm is directly proportional to the quality of the install. A cheap alarm installed properly will do a better job at protecting your ride than the most expensive alarm on the market poorly installed. This means unless you have experience installing alarms, you need to get a pro to do it. If you are hiring a pro with the relevant experience and skill (ie NOT the cheapest in the ph book, or a mate of a mate) then they will most likely prefer to install their own alarm (as they are more familiar with them, and backed up by the manufacturer warranty etc). They'll charge you extra to install a pre-bought alarm as they won't be making their markup, and will have to cover themselves in case it fails and you come back crying to them. Even if you did install it yourself, your insurance company wouldn't give you a discount as they will require it to be professionally installed. My advice - contact one of the big alarm companies local installers (someone like Dynatron, Mongoose, or AVS) and have them install one of their alarms. it will set you back between $500 and $600 INSTALLED. That is good value, you will be happy with the result, the alarm will work, your insurance company will discount you, and if anything goes wrong, i know from personal experience you are backed up by the manufacturer.

This is better Or maybe not.

f**k some of you guys are cruel. 1) Dig cat-sized hole. 2) Place cat food in hole. 3) Shoot cat. 4) Fill in hole. But that's if you want to be an a**hole to your neighbour. It usually pays to be nice to your neighbours - one day your likely to need them for something.

Wikipedia suggests trying Lion dung or electric fencing...

I can see the audi resemblance in the VE lights that Josh refers to, but hadn't thought of it before:

This trend worries me more - the raised bootlid: Camry: BMW 7 series: Hyundai Grandeur: and there are plenty more. This style only ever looked good on the e30 m3 (and maybe Bentley Arnage)
-
I always put my jack stands under the subframe mounts, not the subframe itself. That way there's no weight on th ebushes, and you shouldn't experience your problem.

E30's don't have pillarless doors, but the lock buttons (except on the cabby) make for a 20-sec break in using the same method unless the doors are double locked. What I want to know is how they go about breaking the steering locks.

Steering balljoint is cheap, and about half an hour to replace yourself. Contorl arm balljionts don't wear out as often as the tie-rod ends (aka outer rack end, outer ball joint, steering ball joint). I damaged a control arm not so long ago, so I replaced it and both of the control arm bushes (with powerflex urethane), but my other control arm was fine so didn't bother to replace. Just do the tie rod end and be done with it. Next time your car is with a professional mechanic, ask them if they think your control arm bushes and sway bar bushes are due.
-
OK, you need to ask the WOF place which part is at fault. Is it the steering arm ball-joint? These are easy and cheap to replace yourself. If it's the control arm ball joint, then you have to buy an entire control arm (about $120-160 from memory). In which case you may have to (and probably should) replace the rubber bush, and you have to replace both bushes if you replace one, so it would pay to check on the condition of the other control arm and ball joint. No matter what you do, you'll need a wheel alignment afterward. Goodluck. BTW with new bushes you'll notice a decent improvement in handling over worn bushes.

Jeez that'd be one hell of a syndicate! Cute little cars. But I'm noway near flush enough to spend that kind of money on a garage ornament.
