like I said on the old thread - looks hot. Picture doesn't do it justice - looks better in person. The controversial roundels don't stick out as much viewing the car in the flesh either. Really well-thought out set of cosmetic modifications. I'm not really one for the e36, but watching it in motion made me almost want one.

I see your point about engine size - I personally would see that as a plus, but if you are fuel concsious I see why you might want to go for a smaller engine - just remember that fuel economy has more to do with driving style and where you will be driving than engine size, and a larger engine driven lightly can sometimes produce better economy than a smaller engine being worked to keep up. I wouldn't base your decision on the year of the car - it is far more important to look at kms travelled, previous usage history, condition, and service history. I had a look - there are a lot of very nice looking -low kms, nz-new 320i's for a fair bit less. Only they are year 2000 and 2001.

Doesn't look too bad, but I have to ask the question why you'd pay $18k for that when you can get this for $1k less. Only downside would be higher kms. (Assuming of course that both cars are in equally good condition).

You could make your own with ready to mix concrete in a bag from mitre 10. Just get two board nailed together - one being the vertical side of the wedge, and the other being the ramp or hypotenuse. Fill up with concrete and scree off - the "top" becomes the bottom of the wedge. Or find a supplier for these

Buyer for the glovebox failed to contact me. Has a working lock. Not sure what to do with the key as only have one and it also operates the doors and boot (ignition barrel has been changed at some point as it uses a diff key). Mirrors still available, but havn't got any pics yet. You can see a decent sized stone chip in this one though: Nothing a dab of touch-up paint couldn't hide if the price on the mirrors was right? Still plenty of bits available - esp. interior. Still available: Diff (4.1:1 open) Set of steel rims with hubcaps - 2 wofable tyres Set of bottlecaps - 2 wofable tyres I think F/L Front lip - has a slight bend in it, but straigtens out fine, and these are getting like hens teeth Most interior - front seats are a bit worn (small tears) rears are mint, rest of interior is good. Dash has cracks. Tow bar Standard shocks and springs Engine block Other misc. bits and bobs.

Hire a small shipping container and stick it in that. Put the container wherever you can get cheap or free storage (know anyone with a farm or big backyard??)

The cost between the far north and Auckland has narrowed - used to be 7c diff, now closer to 4c diff.

Next time it happens engage launch control and drown out their yelling with tire squeel. Seriously though, it doesn't sound like a fault - sounds like intolerance from a grumpy fart.

With 460hp that's all people would see!

Fairly common place for rust. Get it cut out, welded up, og and paint and you'll be back in business.

Vector works? There are others, it just seems most common. I hate using Autodesk products - AutoCAD does everything, but man is it bloated. All the other stuff they make is sh*t (Design Review, True View etc) Only thing I like is the command line. I use CivilCAD. But I'm doing road design, Digital terrain, sewer and stormwater design and so forth. Not product design and 3d rendering. I'd buy a Mac if I could afford it. They are great for a home PC, and really good for multimedia. Not so good for other uses or so it seems. My PC does everything a Mac can do. Wireless conect to media server connected to tv - runs all home entertainment from anywhere in the house too. Mobile VNC means I can do the same from my Window Mobile cellphone. Not as elegant as mac plus iphone, but I got both my PC's and my phone for about half the price of a mac book pro.

Correct - normal fuel tank under the car, and another one in the boot - filler is a y-shape and there is a breather and anti-syphon sytem linking the two tanks. BTW James, I got all energetic this avo and pulled that tank out of the 320 for you.

Well a few weeks ago fuel was $2.08 in Paihia for 95, and now its $1.97. Thats an 11c drop. I still think its too high, but it has dropped. I suppose its not bad considering the NZ$ is at a 2 year low.

My girlfriend worked for a time at a local computer store and she used to go on about MSI all the time. They seem OK. I have an "Insite" for work - they are just a assembler really (I think). Have the exact same form factor/case design and internals as MSI, have MSI boards, and I'm pretty sure just sold under a different name (like Ultra). We've had some problems with some of them - mostly hardware - a dodgy wi-fi in one, a wi-fi aerial not hooked up inside in another, and a noisy CPU fan on mine. That said they are grunty little machines and cost us bugger all.

I have a high-spec acer I'm really happy with. (17" screen, core2duo, etc - almost 2 years old now and still going strong) I don't like the lower-specced acers friends and family have, but mine is awesome. Unless you have a good reason otherwise, get XP-pro, not vista. Toshiba have a good rep. IBM last ages, but not as sleek or comfortable to use, and my workmates IBM vista tablet PC has been a nightmare. IBM eventually "upgraded" him to XP tablet to solve the problems. No mac fanboys yet??

Choice vid! Just need to edit out the blatant x5 advertising.

Even though I like the car, I do have to agree. I can't really see you in it Chris.

I like. Glenn - you should know better than to quote the OP when you are replying directly below. I'm on a mission today to stamp out this nefarious activity!

Which auction? Havn't seen any 330is at auction for a while now. All 318's and 320's

Good choice! The installer can choose what to use the immobilisers on. Commonly it would be ignition itself, fuel pump, and then isolate a relay (maybe fuel pump again, or ignition again, or main engine relay on an e30)

I like! Definately better than the z3m. I to have been looking at e46 330i's (must have won the lotto too? ) From what I've seen lately its a good buy. Low kms, but not f/l. Definately get the pre-purchase done by Glenn. Those steptronic boxes have been known to die if poorly treated. In the last few weeks I've seen '99-01 330i's for as little as $15k, a few good motorsport 330i's with low kms for either side of $20k, and then a few with SMG gearboxes, f/l (>2003), stupidly low kms and babied for around the $30k mark. That puts that vert around the average price for an auto 330i motorsport f/l coupe with low kms = good buying to me. I've decided to wait until next year. I'm hoping this "recession" might mean prices are going to drop dramatically as mom & pop investors start panic-selling Dad's Beamer to save the house. Hopefully that happens around the start of winter when car prices start to dive anyway. Maybe I'm too hopeful, but the price certainly isn't going to go up between now and then.
