  1. So true. One old prick was so intent on blocking me out rather than letting me merge with the main motorway traffic that I purposely drove like a prick to merge in front of him, then came to a complete stop and let about 15 vehicles in front of us. He got on the horn and looked like his head was about to explode - further down the motorway when the traffic freed up I got about 4mins of thumbs up and waving from those I let in as I went past them. Loser. I think everyone (including me) is guilty of small driving "msidemeanours/discourtesies" but have to agree that overall everyone EXCEPT me sucks at driving.

    17" BBS CH Mags

You can't help yourself can you?
  3. The lights are illumination for the headlight angle adjustment control (which may or may not be present on your car as it may have been removed - commonly faulty). I too think the silver box is an amp. Finally - ecu model - what sort of e30 is it? Not many different ecus out there.
  4. Like an addict to the bottle....
  5. I now have some of the bits off it. Good guy to deal with.
  6. Sweet - will have a listen over the weekend.
  7. You can hope all you like - most of the one's I've seen don't lol.
  8. Not quite as good as m30 partly because they have timing belt, not chain, but still tough as nails. Heads warp/crack if overheated, valves hit pistons if the cambelt breaks, valve stem seals go after a while, headgasket is common cause of overheating and head problems, minor vacuum leaks accur in the rubber parts of the intake system, airflow meter vanes can stick, cold idle valves (where fitted) can stick, tappets almost always are noisy, can be adjusted but often noise is dur to wear, not incorrect adjustment and you just have to live with it or replace cam followers, and/or camshaft. Long list, but well maintained these motors do very very high kms and take a lot of punishment. We ran an m20b23 in a dusty environment on the limiter in a paddock car for hours on end with no problems.
  9. Yeah, non-towball cars have just the end plates. most guys would have cut the towbar off as it is unlikely you are going to need it on that car, or swapped it onto another car without a towball. They have little or no resale value. I have two aftermarket tow balls I doubt I could sell. I'll sell you a set of the mounts if you want, but the truth is someone in the race series may have some lying around that they'd give you.
  10. post up quick pic of towbar. Cars without towbar have an assembly mounted to the chassis which transfers shock loading to the chassis. Mounting your bumper how you have will neither be legal for WOF or race series. This is how it should look.
  11. Sounds upside down - hole should be on underside of bumper. not sure how it could be upside down tough as the bumper wouldn't match the guards. photo?

    Tuesday funnies

    awesome as usual.
  13. Hey Tom, I assume you mean H&R springs, not shoicks. Wheel alignment can certainly affect the handling. Camber is not adjustable on e30's without aftermarket strut-tops or bushes, so the change in camber is probably small, as unless they changed the aprings too, I wouldn't expect it to change. The toe is the culprit. What have they set it at?? They were probably n00bs and tried to pull it back to factory spec even with the lowered height. I'm no expert on what it should be, but from memory your after a wee bit of toe-in to help with the turn in and understeer. Someone else will know - where's 3pedals when you need him?
  14. What is it with you and your wheel fettish?
  15. I don't like many american cars, but I like the work and finish that has gone into that one - very nice work! And I forget the name of it, but I got very drunk in that Irish pub in the photo last time I was in chch! Is it The Bog???
  16. Right, I've cleaned up the thread as best I can trying to be unbiased and removing comments both good and bad at this stage. REMINDER: for Sale threads are not for discussions about your own personal opinions about the car. Keep discussion to questions regarding the sale, price, details etc, but keep your opinions to yourself. If you want to waste time talking trash about cars on trademe, then visit the trademe discussion forum that was created for that type of thing. Bagging members rides (even new members) is not tolerated. Helpful/constructive criticisms are fine. We're not trying to be over-PC here and say you can't tell someone you don't like something about their ride - just keep the entirely negative comments to yourself. Here is the original discussion thread about this car when it was on trademe. If that gets out of hand I will close it. PORTNOY may be a new member with a controversial car for sale, but he seems like a pretty laid back sort of chap so give him a break. PS PM me if you want to discuss. Do not post in the thread.

    1988 E30 Touring

You beat me to it. Looks way better at that height. I think the wheels are good now.
  18. After the other one posted up I've been on TM looking for white e46's with no luck yet (well at least not in 325 or 330 guise). I'm converted.
  19. Get german ones, then get someone like Shelley to make you up the nz plate stickers.
  20. They're here Whilst we're on the subject of WoF's, LTSA is getting harder on WoF issuers:
  21. Cool! I wish I had the time to take on something like that.
  22. Hey Carl, love the rims. The e30 scene here is nothing like it is in the UK and EU, but there are plenty of hot e30's around. Welcome to nz and bimmersport! -Graham
  23. That's a sweet rebuild. What sort of numbers would you expect from the rebuilt motor. I've been humping along with plans for some low supercharged boost, but this looks like more fun, and I have a feeling it will go a fair bit harder than a 2.7 and can always boost it later.
