So I've had a BT-50 from the dealer for 24 hours now. Bloody good truck. Found some steep banks to take it up/down (you know what I mean Simon ), and taken it out through some twisties, etc. Need to find something heavy to fill the back up with and see how it affects performance. Need to arrange a similar "loan" of a Navara and a Hilux for comparison.

Welcome. Whilst I don't always like the styling, the beamers are fantastic bikes.

Some douche in a red e30 touring with no kidney grill pulled out in front of me in a 100 zone a day or two back. I was only doing 90 and still had to brake heavily to avoid being taken out. All I could think about was what a shame it would have been to have 2 unusual e30s destroyed at the same time. It's going to be good to see how this turns out as we need more good tourings on the road.

Currently driving a 2001 Rodeo and don't like it. Interesting coment about Hilux versus the rest. I've heard good stuff about the Mitsi's performance - certainly has the best performance on paper of any of them, but my old 1995 Mitsi L200 sucked (gutless). Currently leaning toward Navara, BT-50, or Hilux I think. Chris - Diesels tend to be more economical. Most of the new utes I've been looking at claim 9.2l/100km with the Hilux claiming 8.3l/100km. I'd put real-world figures more like 10l/100km based on the gear we're carrying and driving style. A petrol would be a bit more (based on rightcar.co.nz figures) - say 13l/100km. RUC is 4.5c/km, so Diesel costs 16c/km, where the petrol costs 23c/km roughly. So Diesel still marginally cheaper I think even with an extra $125 a year for rego.

Resize your pics. Edit: Thanks

Tip - call the headunit a stereo/cd player. Some people won't know what a headunit is, and may confuse it with cylinder head and be put off. Even better - raid one of the old mans wrecks for any piece of sh*t tape player to fill the hole.

If it were me I'd try not to use the e30 brake linkage - definately one of the worst RHD e30 design features - spongy lack-lustre brake feel. That and the sh*t-house deadspot in the steering.

What's the best ute to buy? Value for money??? 4wd double cab wellside with canopy. Havn't test driven yet, but been looking on the web at: Ford Ranger/Mazda BT-50 Mitsi Triton Nissan Navara Toyota Hilux Wants to be 3yrs old or newer, and as low kms as poss. The Hiluxes seem to be the better trucks, but a 70,000km example is in the area of $40-43k, and the other brands, a 40,000km example is around $35k. It'd be more useful in a way if anyone can tell me what to avoid from personal experience, and I can choose from what's left. Need to make a decision ASAP want to start test driving this week to buy early next week.

Sweet. The only pub north of auckland that is part of the promo is 2km from my house. That'll do.

Some kind of soft-core BZP alternative? This is like that episode of Outrageous Fortune...

I can just see you in tennis gear with a pink sweater tied around your neck tossing this in the back of the z3 while the gf jumps in the passenger side wearing a short lemon-yellow tennis skirt and white polo. Love the 80's chic!

As with the OZ wheels, spacer and hub locator required to run on e30. In this case a 5-10mm spacer should do the trick. Nice light wheels these (and the Oz's too).
-
As these are 4x100 you're obviously pitching them at e30 owners. FYI to e30 owners looking to buy - you will need spacers and hub-locators to run these. Will need roughly 10-15mm spacers. Could look good on the right e30 (or your Honda )

Reducing the size of the rear spare tire/battery well
bravo replied to [email protected]'s topic in General Discussion
A spare tyre is no longer a WOF requirement. So I'm fairly sure that side of things is fine. The modifications to the body only have to be certified if it 's structural. Talk to an LVV certifier - they'll tell you exactly what you can/can't do, and how to go about it. Click here to download a list of LVV certifiers in your area. -
Surprised and impressed. Nice flip flop in the direction your going with this car. Kudos.

Bulbs went suddenly on my OBC last week. Did this yesterday incl. paralleling the circuit for 12v bulbs. Worked a treat.

Wonder how much they'd cost to run as a daily...

Very tempting, but I'm supposed to be buying a practical car.... Link

Reminds me of something I read today:

Hell, we even get limited RDS (station name only) in Northland - including on the mediaworks stations. My itrip transmits it too including artist and title.

I've always liked them - and always got sh*t for it on here too. Would take your e30 over it thought if I had to make a choice.

Had one of these - was awesome - chain-driven 1.6!! Went forever, and I didn't even lose money on it when I sold it, and I bought it from a yard!

Lol - I'm going to have to come back and read the rest of these later. Great thread idea!!! #1 2000 Ford Falcon (AUII Futura Station wagon). Worst car I've ever driven, period. sh*t interior, sh*t build quality, sh*t materials, sh*t handling, sh*t performance, sh*t styling, sh*t fuel economy just sh*t really. Drove it from Brisbane to Bundaberg and back, then down to Coffs Harbour and back to Brisbane again. Dreaded every time I had to get in it. #2 2004 Toyota Corolla hatch. First impressions good - aircon, cd player - really good speakers for a car in this segment (really good!), electric windows in the front (manual in the back - lightweight!), peppy for round town, lacking torque at highway speeds, but still good for the odd passing manoeuvre. So what was wrong with it you ask to make it on the list? I'd rather drive our 40-year-old david brown to Auckland than this. I'm a small man and I crawled out of that thing after 3 hours behind the wheel in so much pain and discomfort, I still think my spine is straightening (3 weeks later). It was impossible to find the correct driving position. Pure torture. #3 Various crappers - '81 misti mirage with the power/economy drive, 74 Vauxhall Chevette, too many others to list. Crappy because they were crappy when new, and were all well over 10years old when I drove them which made them even crappier.
