  1. Different shape. pre-fl are rectangular, fl are more square with a rounded corner. NOT interchangeable.
  2. I think it's unfair to compare it to an iphone or PDA. It's closer to a netbook, in which case it's fairly competitively priced. Sure it's low-end netbook specs, but its fairly high on features. I'd consider one if it had more storage space, or usb to external ability.
  3. There are two gearboxes you can use (240 and 260) - each has a different length driveshaft. Make sure you get matching driveshaft and box.
  4. I might be wrong, but the sway bar will hit the headers as the suspension compresses over bumps if it has the same or similar geometry as a stock one.
  5. There was a guy on Fair Go a awhile back who had his car stolen - they drove it away and never came back. Insurance co. didn't pay out as the guy had willingly handed over the keys. I think he got his money in the end, but only because of the bad publicity - I think the company was legally in the clear. Go with them, and ph insurance co first - easiest solution.

    Door Stuck shut

I've deleted 10 posts. Stop being a bunch of immature assholes. If you are not able to help John, then keep your mouths shut. I'm particularly disappointed about those that are supposedly older and wiser, and should know better (Glenn, Will). And James, who asked you? Keep this crap out of the forum.
  7. Well, apart from some early scepticism due (as glenn put it) to some rangi-ness, I have to say I think they did a good job. Finished pics of the car are awesome! (see bottom page 3 of that thread) It seems as though they tidied alot of stuff up later. Oh and it sounds pretty sick (video page 4). I wouldn't bother doing it, but I admire the dedication and the finished product is sweet.
  8. I too saw it sitting there on way to Kumeu Rod Show yesterday (which was pretty good btw).

    The bastard child.

Sorry Sam, just read this. Went and had a look the day before the birth.
  10. Was M3NTAL taken???? Just kidding, a mate who's a member on here has it. I think for the most part, they look tacky, cheap and try-hard. Some well presented and premium vehicles can be finished off with a nice plate, but most of the time the owner obviously has a much higher opinion of their own cleverness. If the car is so good that even if it had a plate you wouldn't really notice or care, then the plate is a finishing touch. If the plate is there to help show-off the vehicle and is one of the first things you notice, then you shouldn't have it. It's like women and make-up - the best plate is one that at first you don't even notice at all.
  11. Saw TISPEC (the one from trademe) down the viaduct. Not sure exactly where as I was viewing from a boat, but was parked arse-out towards the water near the central bar-area, and looked better than the TM photos. Hot 2002.

    iPhones?

yeah that's what I have installed, but its not signed so have to allow access every time the map changes. gay. Option to always allow is greyed out.
  13. MSBEMR - hot red compact heading south on northern. Got off at Northcote road. looked good.

    iPhones?

Sorry for hijack, but my phone won't install jads, only jars. Says invalid application. Any ideas?
  15. hey dude, if the sump isn't too old an corroded, then it should be an easy weld job. I had a huge crack in the sump welded for $20 a couple of years back, but they said if the alloy was too old they'd just blow holes in it. So as long as there is good metal, and you remove it and take it in, it'll cost you f-all plus the cost of a gasket and some gasket goo, plus your time. Hows that for advice at 12:40am?

    iPhones?

Tell me how to stop the mgmaps app from asking for permission to access the SD card every time it refreshes the map! (on Nokia 6275i) as I have done this too, but it drives me nuts having to hit OK 4 times every time the map refreshes.
  17. Internet reviews say its crap. Ah well, half the movies I hate are good in reviews, so still might be worth a look.

    Exhaust ports

^^^ this. If you don't know what you are doing, just leave as is. head porting is a fairly specialised field.
  19. Watched 5mins of god knows which episode. GF was shocked when I said - it's Ok, you can watch [insert some shitty chick program here].
  20. Mr T is awesome Watch part II aswell. "I like to dish out pain, but I don't like receiving it.."
  21. That rocks my face. So many sweet movies to watch.
  22. That's why I love you Simon. You know me too well.
  23. I didn't realise this was the Subaru club? I know exactly where you are coming from Graham, but any car I buy still has to reflect my personal taste in automobiles. A 2008 Subaru doesn't do it for me I'm afraid. Neither do Holden's or Fords TBH. This is not a purely financial transaction - it's an emotional one too to some extent. I'm not about to go out and buy the first money pit I like the look of, but if I can find something reasonably reliable and affordable to maintain that has some of the emotional qualities I'm after, then that is a much better proposition.
  24. Hi Andrew, I'm disappointed to hear you got some bad service. The problem we have with name and shame is that it only ever tells one side of the story. Whilst I don't doubt your story, I'm going to close this now before some of our immature members turn this into something really negative.
