Never walked around it, but have watched Smash Palace, and read about it in various car mags. I immediately thought of that too when I saw this one. Artificial Owl is a cool site. Abondoned cities (near chernobyl) and amusement parks are eerie.

One of my favourite websites

I've been watching the first one you posted. It's very close to my perfect e39 (m5 excepted). Has all the extra kit. I'm not buying, but plan to at some stage, so was just keeping an eye on what was around. The second one you posted has had the headlight upgrade to the facelift lights, but retains the orange repeaters, and pre f/l tail lights. Also doesn't have the msport bodykit (the standard-bodied e39's are very drab). I'm not a fan of wood panelling either, and the newer one has the nicer 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel. Something like this might be a compromise between kit/kms/age and price. Has had some minor light upgrades (no orange turn signals, but not the new headlights), and although it misses the msport kit, it looks quite good in that colour. The most important thing is to get whatever you plan to buy checked by a reputable BMW specialist - not just a shop that has worked on the odd BMW. They will be able to give you a much more valuable appraisal of any potential issues. I've driven some poorly maintained e39's and they really are dogs. Mint ones are by contrast absolutely magic.

Yes, but he doesn't have a new car budget. So If his budget will only stretch to a 10yo car, it's still one of the best 10yo cars you can buy.

Looks awesome. Boot spoiler is not tech II, but I like it anyway - might even be better than tech II on a red car?

e39 was voted best car in it's class, and best car in the world for many years running in consumer reviews, car and driver, edmunds.com and others. It is a fantastic car, and my favourite everyday model BMW. (Obviously greats like the M-cars, and classics like the 2002turbo win, but are not common models). I agree with the comments Ray made in your other thread re: 6 cyl vs 8. Coming from a WRX I would say that a 530 might underwhelm you a little. The 540i shouldn't. Keep in mind it is a fairly small-mid sized v8 though. If you want 6cyl, get an e46 330i. Similar level of kit if you are buying at the top end, and a great drive. I would also consider an e34 m5 or 540i manual. Not as modern, but plenty comfortable, manual, and lots of go to boot.

Rip-off. Only $150 up here. Almost as bad as personalised plates!
-
Are they staggered? Tyres look good at the rear, but a little balloonish at the front. I like the old wheels better. ...NOT. Looks good Si.

Put an I after the A in your # plate and go and crap on some e36's! I like, except that I'm now convinced that I shouldn't get 15's. They look better than I thought, but I wouldn't be able to get the stretch look I'm after with that much tyre profile. Still one of my favourite wheel designs, and look awesome.

Hurry the F up for crissake! I want to know if 15" look big enough.

Love the comment:

So far 2 votes BMW, One to Nissan, and one to the Mitsi. I think you can see the pattern - its your car, do what YOU want as everyone has an opinion. RB's have been done before, so if you want japanese and want to borrow from other's experiences do an RB or SR, or Toyota JZ or UZ, or mazda 12A or 13B conversion. If you want to do something different do the mitsi. Plenty of cool BMW power options too - turbo, supercharge, v8 options abound.

If it's getting hot with normal street driving (not track, or skids, etc) then there is another problem that you should solve. Otherwise you are just putting a bandaid on and axe wound. If you do go for a cooler, there are engine oil coolers on several BMW models similar age to yours - one will likely fit.

I agree. Sounds like a crap situation. But surely if the friend was picked up for DIC she knew that something was going to come of it? Ignoring the issue and hoping it will go away just results in more grief later on - as happened here. I feel sorry for your daughter who got caught up in it all. Put it down to experience and take it on the chin. Doesn't sound like there's much of an alternative.

It's illegal, and unsafe, and will damage the rest of your drivetrain. Fine for paddock cars and some race cars, but not for road cars. Do some research and get an LSD. Thread closed.

Hey Adele. Any chance your Dad might already be a member here? If not you write very similar to another expat living in Oz who is a member on here who has a daughter with an e30. Similar username too. Blow My Whislte. Uncanny. EDIT: OK it IS your Dad - This is you, yes? Your old man is hilarious BTW.

Which is why you should wash your wheels regularly. A light wash once a week saves alot of pain later on.

Not a special tool. Male torx socket as specified. You can buy a set for fairly reasonable price if you are buying powerbuilt. The few times you need them Powerbuilt will do for the average backyard DIYer.

It's clearly F/L. but probably missing the front plastic lip which is very common. It has plastic bumpers, lower rear arch, and black window surrounds, not chrome. Definitely facelift.

Everyone. Cack. Not my fault this time as I had given up trying to fix original problem. I just had a quick look to see if its an easy fix, but it's outside my expertise, and I don't want to touch what I don't know. Workaround fo rnow is hold down CTRL and press the plus symbol on your keyboard. Hopefully Josh or Cliff can just rebuild the forum skin or whatever it is thats gone awry and it'll be back in business. Look what you did Brian!!! (kidding).

I thought I'd done that in the subdreamer ACP. Keitis account still can't see the posts. The Latest Post plugin displays, just not populated. You want to FB chat?
-
What'd you do? EDIT: No it's not

It's got me fooked. The fact that it's displaying at all tells me I've got the view settings right, and the permissions for gen members and guests are exactly the same on the front page, but it works for guests (not logged in) but not for members. I'm totally stumped. The reason it worked for quailboy was because until he made a post he was in the "newmwmber" category as explained in the Changes to For Sale thread. As soon as he posted he became a "member" and it removed the list. I have no idea why.

if it's working for Cale, but not you others, can you try deleting your cookies and cache again? Might have something to do with it.
