  1. Breaking news, Metatag checked the site and well well well
  2. With the intravee you have to also purchase an Alphine KVA-420c which unfortunitly has just jumped in price .. I managed to get mine for $270 but market value is around $320 which can make the solution on the pricey side. However as Jochen says, its the only one youll want for your 4:3 or 16:9 screen. All others are compromises feature wise.
  3. I know this sounds really stupid. But my first defense was moving to a good neighbourhood. The two times my car has been broken into its been in bad or average neighbourhoods. Next would be parking the car in sensible locations. After that everyones always suggested alarms, I would look into maybe a GPS alarm if you value your car that much. Of do what ive done and run a GSM based alarm. I get texted anytime its moved etc etc. Things after that would be a wheel clamp / steering lock bar. For your house install video cameras. Logitech do a nice one that plugs directly into the power socket and works over the power wires in the house as a network. Works online too to upload the pictures / video once your house in broken into. So even if they steal it. They have already been recorded. Its all about deterrants mainly. If someone really wants your sh*t, they will take it.
  4. HB man, have a good one.
  5. Found it 4300k is normal OEM colour range. It offers the best Lummins. This is actually in most part due your eyes picking up yellow/orange light a lot better than say white/blue (8000k). 6000k white/purple offer the best compromise between colour vs lummin output.
  6. This would be because they are from the states and also a retailer .. not a manufacture ? I have and yes they are good. Been around a long time and have serviced the e46fanatics community for as long as I've owned my e46. (5 years) If your not happy go with someone else my point is grab some xenon bulbs and try them out. Just make sure also when you adjust your lights your masking line isnt going to be shining in on coming drivers faces. Nothing pissing other motorists off more than ill set xenons as the focus point of the light is a lot sharper (due to the projector globe) and its pretty intense. I run 8000k xenons (blue) they are a lot dimmer than OEM xenon due to 8000k lacking lummins compared to lower heat bulbs. Ill try find a graph to explain the whole thing.
  7. Put it this way, you lower your stock shocks m-sport or not. They will wear out a lot faster. It happened to me and caused all sorts of handling issues after a fair amount of time on lowering springs. Im not saying dont do it. Just expect it to accelerate wear. So in essence 3pedals .. we agree. If your going to spend a couple of grand on shocks why not save some more (about another 1000-1500) and get a 'coil over' setup. That way he has the best of all worlds for a road car setup. Generally people buy aftermarket sway bars in matched pairs for the type of vehicle Anyways, to the original poster, look into all options .. Ask yourself how long are you going to keep your car and what you really want your end goal to be from your vehicle. From there youll be able to awnser your questions with all the information.
  8. Hey and welcome to the forum. No suprises Im chiming in here I tend to be a little vocal on the topic The car I suspect you test drove was david braces car ? which was running PSS9s The 'standard' M-sport shocks and springs are the best / most sensible option before running coil overs. Lowering springs will only give you a ride height change and some what increase wear time on your shocks while it feels firmer at first after 2 years your inner seals will be shot for over working the shock. The biggest mistake people make with lowering springs is while it feels firmer, because the standard shock are compressed, on rebound you will feel that they in fact quite floppy. This is where a lot of car control is lost, On the negative G's or going over 'whoops' in the road. I did this route before I saw the light and upgraded to a full 3 way adjustible coil over system in mine. There are slightly cheaper options around than spending 5k on pss9's or 10's. I bought the KW system which has a proven track record on and off the track. They are a lot cheaper than the Bilstien system(s) however certianly are not cheaper in qaulity. The shock is specailly shortened Koni yellow race and the springs are Eibach .. the only thing KW actually manufacture is the adjustible spring purches and struts. You maybe able to get a nice deal on some H&R's from our forum sponsor. There has been alot of time and research gone into the H&R brand for e46 vehicles. You mention how flat the car sat in the corners. Massive gains in cornering ability can be had with sway bar upgrades. For me again I chose Eibach. Your car will sit a lot more level in the corners and have almost no roll. My entry driveway is the worst in the street .. so much so I dont use it! haha My car is pretty low, I drive two wheels on the footpath and two on the road to the neightbours driveway and then dismount onto the road from there works a treat and I dont scrape my bumper. The ride height adjustment is key for tuning weather your car sits flat or slightly angled. (nose down back up) which is the default e46 'stance' As D@NZ has said, Coilovers really are night and day. The steering response is razor sharp, turn in is amazing (very satisfying feeling) and the great thing is you can change you stiffness if your going to have the odd track day. I have set mine to medium or half way for the best compromise between both road and performace driving. Save your money to put towards a set of coil overs. Also shop around, buying PSS9's in NZ is rediculously expensive.
  9. hehe .. hardly minor marks though .. needs about a grands worth of repair job to bring back to new. would be worth it for an x5 owner however .. these wheels are much win.
  10. I use a self bleed kit you can pick up from repco or autocheap. They work really well.
  11. Been pinged from 900meters myself. Radar detectors are only good when they A) have the radar operational all the time and B ) pinging other traffic with hold mode and lighting up the detector. You have no chance if your speeding and your that first person out of hold mode as I found out hard way. Has defanitl curbed my heavy foot habit and made me install cruise control to keep me honest. works well.
  12. which was the pig the Conti or the Direzza- and wree the both relatively new tyres or were the contis years old and gone off ?? The Contis where. They were a couple of years old when I replaced them .. but now the Direzzas are a couple of years old too and no where near as 'wobbly'. In saying that a friend of mind runs Contis on his e30 m3 with 9.5 rears and 8.5 fronts. He has no problems with them. The only different / Im running a hard suspension setup. So who knows. I just know what works and what doesnt with my particular setup. And I think thats key to arguement on tires Everyones setup is different.
  13. Cool sounds like you just need to replace the OE xenon bulbs (5300k heat). My 8000k bulb bit the dust after two years of use. When I put the new bulbs in they were so much brighter, So xenon gas does loose its 'zing' so to speak. http://www.umnitza.com/product_info.php?cP...products_id=100 $35 + shipping here.
  14. Welcome. For your m3 there are some quite nice suspension options around. However I think what jono is alluring too is as a out of the box car 90% of people out there wont get to use the extra performace a harder / lower coil over setup will bring. I will say one thing without wanting to blow my own trumpt, around taupo last year a couple of us e46 330i guy (myself and david bryce) where running circles around a few of the standard m3's there. We both have coilovers and uprated sway bars. Some options to look into when your ready. KW v3 / v2 (what I run) http://kw-suspension.com/en/30_Products/20...overs/index.php H&R Premiums / RSS clubs http://www.hrsprings.com/products/coil-overs Bilstein PSS9 Coilover (David Bryces) http://www.digitalperformance.com/bilstein....php#streetperf Or start steping into the higher end. Ohlins http://www.ohlins.com/default.aspx Moton http://www.motonsuspension.com/index.php?item=clubsport
  15. The e30 was on Contis before the direzzas and found them to be a of a pig dog of a tire. This is probably more due to the fact they are a harder tyre on a light car @8.5 inch wide on a race suspension setup. Remember different tyres for different weight vehicles. While some hate some brands and some dont. It all comes down to the expectation of the tyre from the consumer. Also alot of people run their tyres at different pressures and I would bet a few vehicles are well over due for wheel alignments and varous suspension bushings. For a start, at least your asking for other peoples experiences. Also, there is no silver bullet tyre. What works very well on the road, generally sucks balls on the track and vice versa. Have a chat with jono (zenetti) has he does this day in and day out. His recommendations are spot on for requested requirements.
  16. Run Direzzas on the e30 and my flatmate runs them on his GSR. No problems like this with them at all.

  21. But we will see one in the flesh with out the GT badge (de-badged option) in black and will like it .. such is the way with BMW.
  22. That thing must have the most insane sized sensor. The Red 617 (at the bottom of this image) is $53,000 us and shoots 28k (above 5 times the size of imax) in realtime and its only 290odd mpx. which alone has a 168x56mm sensor. Make my DSLR seem like an ant!
  23. 40hz is pretty low fella I guess you mean can it hold 40-500hz longer? I can do 20hz but your talking 1000watt 18inch sub territory here for any real sound to come out of it.
  24. How much where you quoted and how much are you looking at spending ? For coil overs which have shocks that are built for lowering and will last a lot longer your looking around 2500-3000 The OEM motorsport shocks are a good choice for sporty yet forgiving. Bilstien, Koni or H&R are your best bet for aftermarket shocks, as their internals have a proven track record and a lot of time and research was put in specifically for you cars weight. Two way adjustible will give you a good middle ground. I run KW coilovers which are Koni yellow race shocks shortened with Eibach 550pound rears and 400 pound fronts and Eibach sway bars. Gives me a awesome handling and isnt uncomfortible around town. See what your guys come up with and post it up here.
  25. 40 - 15000 k burn this to CD and run it .. start at a low volume first. Warning it does get into the higher registers. Sound_1.mp3
