  1. I run these in mine. (Umnitza) Qaulity of product is great, you do however need to open them up and do a bit of DIY on the side walk flare masking. Out of the box they wont pass a warrent. Go for the first one ... the second one has cheese delux indercators. Go for the euro clears instead. You can buy them yourself for cheaper however from the source. http://www.umnitza.com/product_info.php?cP...roducts_id=1099
  2. unfortunitly the dealer will cost you about $120 to do it. just by a reslers interface for $50 and borrow a laptop. hell you can get a shitty one for next to nothing off trademe.
  3. For a coupe, there is only one that actually fits properly. gtr http://www.vorsteiner.com/bmw/e46coupe-vrs-hood.html or standard w/power buldge http://www.vorsteiner.com/bmw/e46coupe-hood.html there are some floating about trademe / ebay .. but trust me .. I have seen them in person and they just done line up properly on the car.
  4. Get a Remus dual. Go see some experts and see if you can get something sorted by changing out the mid muffler. In all seriousness maybe roll with the one you've got until you can afford a remus / borla / supersprint. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/subca...p;subcat_id=102 http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/subca...mp;subcat_id=81
  5. Just make sure you use the three wire 'powered' circuit diagram. If its not powered you wont be able to write successfully back to the LCM. although it will read the data. If your keen on just testing it for the sake of it .. let me know I have time later this week inbetween taking a 'lunch' break from the album.
  6. hehe .. love the classic 'rugby n00b' comments I chucked my oar in .. will see what happens
  7. Im running one of these. http://www.intravention.co.uk/ bought the KCA-420i Alpine ipod interface, connected it to the intravee and plugged the whole lot into my OEM nav. This solution was best for the nav setup (on screen controls). While it works fine with standard Business radios is probably over kill. The DICE unit is the other CD to ipod interface for your OEM stereo and would be cheaper.
  8. Glenn, give me a yell when your free this week. I can come with my laptop and ibus interface with Jochens software and help you out.(will need ibus interface to program successfully) Will drop off the CD full of images too. Am off work from weds onwards.
  9. The guy who owns rintoy has had bad luck after bad luck with it .. hes finally got it all sorted .. and the thing is a weapon. Quite sad to see he got a bit duped when he first bought it though.
  10. yeap it did .. it wasn't a separate part like the m3 one however. It was welded onto the strut. and painted yellow (ofcorse)
  11. BMW X5 M Prototype Winter Testing in Blue -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The BMW X5 M was caught on the road again by one of our spies. Captured during winter weather testing in the snowy north of Europe, the spy notes the "massive air intakes" seen on the sporty crossover. So far, we have just seen this vehicle in black. Now, we can safely speculate that similar color options will be available on this line, as is available on other M vehicles. It appears to be BMW's Le Mans Blue, but sometimes lighting and shade can play tricks on a camera. Also spotted on the crossover are air vents built into the front fenders, and quad-exhaust tail pipes, as seen on other M-badged BMW vehicles. The X5 M will see a power boost, with horsepower ratings in the low-to-mid 500s. All that power has sparked two different rumors about the engine, with some saying the X5 M will get a new twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, while others say it will receive a 507 hp 5.0-liter V10. The speculated V8 is also rumored to be the more powerful of the two choices. BMW is building this SUV to compete with the Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Once released to the market, it should have customers of the two more established high performance SUV looking over their shoulders. The increase in spy photos and video seen over the last two months suggests that the BMW X5 M will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
  12. posted in here mine and brendons. (Im sure the regulars are getting sick of me posting this link ) http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....t=0&start=0 P.S still trying to dig up the link for the Bilstien m3 strut replacement .. maybe have been discontinued :| I remember it worked out cheaper than m3 struts (which cost me 1800 for two fronts without inserts) The bilstein way was going to be 2k all up including shock inserts.
  13. Personally not a fan of this, however I was all Ewwwwwwww with the x6 .. But after seeing / sitting in a x6 in black. It was one of the nicest vehicles I had been in. The thing you have to realise with BMW is the X series and Z series cars are all designed for the US market. hence the big rear lights. I think it will do well with the SoCal dealers. I say this because you look at things the US put out in the SUV range and I puke more when I see them. Everything is in context to the market its aimed for. This is going to fit right in L.A and with the very american 'GT' badge on the back it just solidifies the whole design. very ferrari 'super america'
  14. 5 Series GT Concept Revealed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here they are ladies and gentleman, the first photos of the BMW 5 Series GT, Gran Turismo or Progressive Activity Sedan. So what do we have here? A combination between the 7 Series and CS Concept. The BMW 5 Series GT has wheelbase length comparable to the new 7 Series long-wheelbase. As we learned yesterday, due to this, the cabin space is quite large, with lots of legroom and space in the back. The taillights are similar to the 7 Series, L-shaped and larger than usual. Upfront, BMW continues the trend started by the new 7 Series with a large front-grille. The headlights clearly remind me of the now canceled/postponed BMW CS Concept. As we expected and guessed, the coupe-rear shape comes from the X6, but with a little bit more headroom. In the back, the hatchback style trunk with the glass that lifts up, is not as bad as some people expected and I believe it fits the car properly. From these photos, we can see the impressive trunk space, something that buyers will enjoy.
  15. might have to make a weekend of 'touching it' ... road trip in order.
  16. All fine and dandy until you open a few of the places they rush up (Scuttle / roof / rear battery box / inner guards. And find out you have about 10k's with of repairs and a re-paint up your sleeve. Top that out with restoring the engine bay back to good order with new parts and I think you’ll find you’ll blink and 15k+ will have gone on repairs. Then there is the engine and mods side of things (exhaust / wheels / brakes / suspension) and there is another 10k. You can actually see where the money goes and why the 38-48k M3 exist. So many people just see them and impulse comment without any facts at all about what’s truly involved in owning one, and im not wanking on about history or rarity of the car. I’m talking about basic car buying and maintenance. The reality is its not a Honda. There aren't spare parts floating around NZ in abundance. You have to buy everything new from BMW. Another reality is that these new parts are about the same costs as e46 m3 parts (yes the bumpers cost near on 2 grand each) (you get the picture from there). This is where the costs come from. Anything else people waffle on about is just trade me dreaming syndrome. Sorry if that sounded a bit harsh but time for someone to bloody say it!
  17. Unfortunitly true .. and far from the cheapest way of doing it Bilstien make a complete e30 m3 strut and coilover system. Then you just have to get the brake and hub setup + off set bush Running a set of these = OOOSum bro
  18. One things for sure, over inflating the tires or consistantly running high pressures places a lot of strain on the inner casing. Was shown recently how much of a hard life tires get and the effects of over heating and delamination of the inner casing. Was quite scary.
  19. always remember this comment. You want to take photos like that other guy, its one of three things. Lighting, Lens choice, post production. There are many things you can use to influence these factors. Lenses are a major part of it. next is lighting, then finally post production. If you cant get the first two right .. the output is going to be sh*t. * over exposing photos is the first big no no. If its cooked before you even get it into PS then there is no saving it. Find your lightest point in the view finder (zebra stripping is a good aid for this) and look at your darkest point. Are they how you want the photo to look? if so, check focus and click. Did your manual settings cause the pic to be too dark .. or too light ? -> re-adjust. The most even the photo the better your histogram will be and the more colour information you have to play with.
  20. yeap .. that and the fact Ive stuck to the same type of tires for the past 4 years. fr 35 rr 30 profiles need a lot more than other tyres. The side wall needs it for support. Around the track I can afford harder tyre pressures to help the side wall. Wouldnt dare do this on the road as its hard as balls and generally uncomfortible.
  21. one Mr Alan Moyes owns (unless this has changed in the past 2 years) the only one in the country.
