Jochen is just an enthusiast like the rest of us... just with a hell of a lot of electronic knowledge as its his field. He spends his spare time programming up code to talk to more modern based BMWs

I actually dont get why everyone leaves their AC off... it makes bugger all difference unless your: * Racing on a track at consistent high RPM * driving a 1.8 litre 6 cylinder with no torque * really tight about saving $5 a week in fuel costs Its actually not a good idea leaving aircon off for too long. You filters go mouldy (smell musty) and can cause gas leaks in your charge canister. In an e46 you select you temp leave it all on and press auto .. and walk away. Its one of the best systems ive experienced.

yeah, I was pissed with this too with the 330 ... However .. its actually pretty good, traction control keeps me in check and my rear tire costs down. Reasons would be to make the m series cars look better on paper

Help me decide which wheels to put on my ///M Touring!
hybrid replied to Fai+H777's topic in Wheels & Tyres
Dear Ray, That doesn't look sh*t at all ... just remember with 19's to take it easy over curbs as not to pinch the wheels Your friend Josh -
Wouldnt mind coming for a look .. Im looking at Alcons for mine and wouldnt mind seeing if theyll clear the works wheels.

Had this exact same thing happen to me when I owned my e36 with some wannabe gangstas in a honda ... anyways after a high speed chase while being on the phone to the cops I soon realised while it was pissing down with rain .. I was in a BMW and they were in a front wheel drive honda.. I dumped my brakes around a corner while we where side by side down the wrong side of the road of them trying to run me off the road. BMW ABS won at the end of the day and the dumb asses ended up owning themselves at high speed into the curb. This started down the bombays when I passed them with no intention and ended up in the back blocks of south auckland. Had a mate trace their number plate and a few of us were going to pay them a visit one night.. however figured in the end it would be more trouble than its worth. The best thing to do in this circumstance in hind sight is just stop and not freak out.

Im running a GC setup in the m325 .. and even nearly two years ago they were cheaper than stocks equivilant. New Zealand just cant compete with the US on price as they dont ship the volume / have manufacturing close by. Even with frieght and GST car parts are just cheaper. My brakes for example. It was 300 more in NZ and I waited 7 weeks for them. As they just shipped them from the same place I would of got them from any ways. I too believe in supporting the local industry but when you can get it in (most cases) 3-4days landed and cleared from the states... the choice is clear. Currently looking at BMW performace OEM cross drilled rotors for the front of the 330. $350 us for a set! BMW NZ want $1000NZ!

did Willie talk to you today ?

Hmm tend to disagree there ... myself I have about 15 demerit points left. If I get another ticket I loose my licience. I use my radar detector when im over taking a truck or slow vehicle, I'm not really phased if I'm behind a vehicle thats doing the speed limit for the trip. This is my last defense in not loosing my licience. I have also set the car computers speed warning to 120 .. I have noticed it doesnt really go off at all these days. My experience with people on the open road these days is a good one. The number of speeders has really dropped in the past few years. This is reflected in road toll numbers. Vehicles are getting safer, people are taking less risks due to speed traps and the fact NZ state highways are finally becoming a lot safer and a pro active approach by transit to increase the number of over taking lanes, which has worked. I very rarely see accidents of any nature (even fatal) In the last few years the only ones i've seen have been 4x4's coming off the road due to the driver going too fast around the corner (which isnt speeding). The ONLY reason for banning radar detectors is to collect more revenue. Maybe for once the media should conerntrate on the facts and figures of the fact the population numbers have gone up .. yet fatel vehicle accidents have gone down ? that would kill any reasoning behind banning them. Thus the bill can be thrown out on those grounds.

GOOD, BETTER, BEST Good A Central Otago Traffic Patrol Cop watching for speeders, but wasn't getting many. Then he discovered the problem - a 12-year-old boy was standing up the road with a hand painted sign, which read "RADAR TRAP AHEAD." The officer then found a young accomplice down the road with a sign reading "TIPS" and a bucket full of money. (And we used to just sell lemonade!) BETTER A motorist was mailed a picture of his car speeding through an automated radar post in Central Otago with a Fine of $160 included. Being cute, he sent the police department a picture of $160 The police responded with another mailed photo of handcuffs. Best A young woman was pulled over for speeding. As a Central Otago Cop walked to her car window, flipping open his ticket book, she said, "I bet you are going to sell me a ticket to the Central Otago Police Ball." He replied, "Central Otago Police don't have balls." There was a moment of silence while she smiled, and he realized what he'd just said. He then closed his book, got back in his patrol car and left. She was laughing too hard to start her car. *************************
