  1. oh for sure... its a bit stupid that its a certed item.. however there was a problem a while back with people doing some pretty rangi jobs on braided lines. its more around the fittings used and the way the fittings are attached to the hoses. We are infact lucky these are allowed on the road at all .. It use to be you had to pay $420 just for a low volume cert and a few stories of people having to remove their lines to proove they had been contructed correctly and from the right materials. Over the past 3 years or so they allowed certain specailist brake houses to pre cert the lines and sell them. here are mine on my e30. here is another thread on it too. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....=15298&st=0
  2. You need to in new zealand have certified lines marked with a yellow sleeve. You can expect a tighter and more direct feel to pedal response. pre cert'ed ones from race brakes etc your looking about 300-600 a set depending on length and fitting type.
  3. thanks for the phone call glenn.. The diagnosis starts. Its seems from glenns experience around this type of issue share by it seems Audi's and Merc's who have similar bosch/seimens control systems that it infact maybe something to do with other sensors non related to the gear box. glenns words: The gearbox learning functions not only have adaptive behalvior for your style of driving but also adapt for faults other sensors around the car may be sending. We are going to be diagnosing this next week and hopefully come up with some awnsers. Will keep everyone posted around this as it will no doubt become more and more of an issue for e46's and other cars as more and more people buy these types of vehicles.
  4. Will ring you first thing monday glenn there about 1000213012938 people in the states who would like to know the resolve for this too
  5. its cool though .. your tires look near shot anyways...
  6. here are some details from another post I made. As you can see the EGS is the module that controls the auto gearbox. One thing we did do is reset the EGS learning maps .. and what do you know .. I have nil gearbox problems. Only thing is this will only last until my EGS decides to change to the new map. In the realtime data output from the EGS it did show that I was now useing gearbox control pattern "a" .. which also is of great interest to me ... next time it happens I will record the gearbox pattern and post it here. the hunt continues.. but at least I now can confirm my suspicions. Im now looking at ways to stop the learn function or to "ban" the offending gearbox map from being loaded by copying the owrking maps over the top of the offending map.
  7. some of the road south out of nelson are some of the best i've seen in the country! good / safe over taking areas with some awesome twisties through the mountains. Its more a summer thing though as to avoid black ice.
  8. Sounds like you have the same issue im trying to fix ... My gearbox was rebuilt. no its not normal .. im in the middle of trying to diagnose it myself as everyone in auckland (including the so called experts) have all had a go and come up with nothing. I have traced it down to a problem with the EGS (gearbox computer) and the way the adaptive transmission handles the timing of the changes ... you can temporily fix it but reseting the EGS learning maps .. but it comes back after time get in contact with me over PM as im looking for other people with the problem to compare software versions of the auto box with. atleast I can use the data I gather to go to BMW and get them to bloody do something about patching the software!
  9. The e92 m3's ex demo are around 150 now another year and they will be even cheaper. I own a fairly modded e46 already and I would just buying into much the same thing if I got an m3. The 135i is a 300bhp e30 essentially with all the moderness of a e90. that and it can accept 335 mods . It is I think one of BMW better break threws in recent times. Everyone hates on it, but the new kits coming out for it seriosuly give it some mean stance.
  10. good to hear... I wouldnt use smith and smith again. They use after market glass ( which i didnt find out for a couple of days) and broke my carrier for the automatic winder. Not only that, they left a sh*t load of glass in the door! rangi came to mind. next time (use my other drivers side front was broken into) I just used JC... more expensive but a proper job was done.
  11. possibly .. the side intrusion sensors. did you get it done at a BMW dealership ? if so you could easily take it back and ask them to fix it. Atleast get the car to glenn for a look
  12. As with anything on an e46 .. get it plugged into a ODBII BMW diagnostic computer. 99% of errors are logged.
  13. if you have any picutres or videos we all would be deeply greatful I actually read about your race sometime ago and was well impressed! nice work.
  14. To store it would take more than a tube. A hydrogen fuel cell is a bit more robust / technical than the common gas tank. The problem with hydrogen is at normal baramatric pressure its a gas and not liquid. The cell needs to store it as a liquid thus needing to be compressed quite a bit to store enough of it in liquid form. This is all doable .. and beats the pants of electric cars ... that and we can have low liter engines with same horse power .. or same HP with more power .. The other thing electrolysis creates isssssssssssssssss Ozone shiiiiit killing a few birds with one stone on that one aren't we
  15. hes just saying your going to have suspension geometery problems with this solution. The car will react in strange ways under speed/load/hard cornering. It will be fine for every day driving however just expect some premature wear on the tires.
  16. And this is why this country needs to pull its head out of its ass and use french nuclear power / reactors. Its the only way forward unless someone cracks cold fusion reactors ...

Ill drag up my mother of a thread ... hang on ..
  20. lol ... in all seriousness .. start mass producing hydrogen powered cars already. Toyota, Honda, BMW and Mazda have all developed / tested it successfully in their current ranges.. imagine what would happen if the government announced it was going to start building h20 electrolysis refining plants hydrogen filling service stations good bye mineral oil reliance.
  21. signed my comment was something like... Why not have a channel that support a sport that 1000 times more popular worldwide than rugby. blah blah....
  22. I went over to a Warlocks place to try out his software he just bought ... So I didnt waste any time getting info about my problem for a bit of back info on my delimar... (sorry its a post I dragged from e46 fanatics) 2nd gear thumps on down change from third on odd occasions.
