Hmmmm Stock rods have reported to have let go on the higher side of the rev band. drop forged will at least give you some confidence when your looking around 600-800bhp. And yes .. when you think about it 2k+ is nothing if it means you have that security than buying a new block and pistons / crank. Speaking of which .. the crank strength is something you also will want to think about. A stainless manifold will be a bad idea on something as heavy as a gt40/42r. They look pretty .. but crack after solid use. Again this all depends on how its built, but people using top mount turbos dont use stainless for this reason. Using pyrimid rings or o-ringing the block or head is highly recommended for this power range. Realistcially things change when you get up around this power range . . look to the swedes for ideas. www.zatzy.com is where they all hang ..

Welcome to new car ownership. It does amaze me when people change from a 20 year old car to a modern car and say .."its so much tighter" Well yes, it has 20 years more technology on it. Being an owner of both, the e46 is a much more confident vehicle to be in. But you loose that connected to the road feeling with stock suspension. When you modify this however .. it all changes .. and you start t get back to the e30 feeling.

you running 98 or 95 ? sounds about right for an 85 ltr tank. If im careful I can get about 450-500 out of a city tank. @ 65 ltrs on 98.

hmmm .. two things that annoy me about that render are .. its too obvious .. concept design is about taking element (not actual designs) and evolving them. While I dont like the american head light idea of the BMW's m1 concept .. it actually steps the design of BMW elements forward. This render does not. Its too audi r8 looking for my tastes. (not that thats a bad thing, just need to be original) otherwise .. its very well done.

Question about the 6speed box .. If your thinking of putting it into an e30 it wont work without some major chopping of the floor pan gearbox tunnel. This is why BMW never put a 6 speed into the z3m as the z floor pan is actually an e30 floor pan. The ZF 5speed does however fit.

3.5k with a munched loom and missing the seimens vanos plugs. Was a very good price and engine appears to only have done around 10000 ks.. We just got lucky. your looking around that maybe up too 6-7k for a mint one. Remember the short block brand new is $8500 and the head is that again.

spank me for saying this ... But when you get a flat tire in a e60 and you put your run flat on .. what does one then do with the spare tire if it doesnt fit in the well .. ?? Like most of us this sort of thing happens when you have a boot full of sh*t for the holiday your on .. so it cant go there .. Oh honey .. can you hang onto the wheel till we get to wellington ? yeah I know I just drove down a dirty road but dont blame me .. blame BMW... thats going to go down real well! I managed to get my old 17 with correct rolling diameter tire for my 19's in the e46.. with all the spare tools I need in / fancy sockets in my tool kit in there too.
