  1. While im not a fan of skids on the road, I had to laugh at the fact that all the parts are taken off ready for the next car. Politicians dont have a clue, well in saying that they do but its more achieving their marketing / PR goals.
  2. Not too bad really. It's bad now but has lasted 6 years from when it started to get ferral. The cars been garaged so thats helped it I guess. Lately its meant I have stopped driving it in the rain. There are no other spots luckly!
  3. Booked the e30 into the panel shop for roof rust. Finally.
  4. Couple of ways to do this. Flash your DME with Alpha-N software (Im not aware of anyone doing this in NZ yet) Gavin may do this, i'm not sure. It will still require you to retune the DME. Run a MAF device emulation device that converts pressure and temprature sensing to a expect MAF signal. This will allow you eliminate the MAF and increase the airflow diameter and retune for more air / run a larger carbon plenium intake diameter as seen in the CSL. The last one I saw of this was from Maxx automotive. Have been trying to pull apart the Siemens MSS50 DME (different to your 3.3 DME) but the bloody thing is stored across two ROMs in 2 x 64KB segments with a 32KB segment as the master. Then im trying to work out the DME program and not just the maps. Brendons managed to program his stock GSR ECU with flat shifting by editing the program in the ECU and decision making processes of the ECU. That and adding a clutch switch into a not needed pin in the ECU. He just reassigned that pin to a new function created. So anythings possible really, its just the dis-assembly bit thats the fun bit.
  5. awww come on yonxi .. I use to run that at 14.5/100 ..
  6. Your e46 is based on microcontroller technology thats about 10 years ahead of most other things on the road. Electrically theyre very well designed. There are some weak points as with any vehicle (eg power window relays etc), but I think youll find that the components generally are some of best there is. The transmission problem is probably a coincidence. As others have said you can have your EGS (gear box micro) and DME (ECU) scanned as well as your LCM/LKM which control your external lights. In the mean time I would be double checking the fuse box. The HID kit high voltage side is only used on the HID / bulb side. It is charged from the ballast (the sqaure box each side) the ballast connectors to headlight side only draw the same as what your halogen headlights draw. Unless it was completely wired up wrong (hard to do with these kits as they have the corrent plugs and they only go one way) its probably not going to be your ballasts that caused the fault. A quick scan is your friend

would daily the sh*t outta it.
  8. hmmm was kind of hoping they would stick with a german donk but I guess I can understand with the cost and he had something already tuned and ready to go. Probably only needed another 10k thrown at it and it would of made a badass BMW only turbo conversion. Oh well. Some one will someday. Maybe I should turbo my s50b32 . . . .
  9. Yeah new hankooks have actually stepped it up. I never thought Id see the day. I'm still sticking with michelin however.
  10. Agreed, I would more than happy if he had his own TV show. Then again maybe not because at least now he gets to do what HE wants, things are perfect the way they are!
  11. haha awesome ... so reminds me of our track days.. Always some mechanical drama going on with at least someone in our group. (not me yet knock on wood) The best one was when jamez bent his subframe in the sand trap, so it was just limped up the road to racefx and removed and replaced. next hour, back out racing. mean

    $75 Telstra vs Xtra

Rate limiting and back haul vs your provider. Different for every exchange based on demand and uptake in your area. Also a low rent provider, while they might seem like a nice cheap option, don’t necessarily have the funds to replace there cabinet equipment for more capacity instead end up winding up contention rates. speedtest.net or any of the other tests are only good for confirming your line speed because ISP's have learn't to allow you and everyone else non rate limited traffic. Other protocols/ports are shaped. Fibre to the home will fix all.

awesome! how much do you think you took out ?
  14. Check the date stamped on the side of the tires. Theyre possibly new old stock. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tec...e.jsp?techid=11
  15. Cold turkey and will power .. still the best way. Just gotta really remember that after a few years youll laugh at yourself. Good stuff guys for staying quit .. It is hard but will power wins.
  16. Agreed, Battery terminals however the battery maybe end of life. Its an OEM battery and I replaced it with a second hand one 4 years ago. Cold weather brings out the gremlins in batteries.
  17. Open road a v8 e39 is fine and pretty much on par with other vehicles. Around town is where it gets worse, But I will say not lots and lots worse. It really is about how and where you drive. TBH, I would go something 2ltr for the open road stuff with cruse control. What will matter is the interior and how comfortible it is. However a well serviced 530 might be the go.

    BMW 2002 take 2

    Very original!
  19. around 6+ KG gearbox rattle is all in the weight of oil and mix you use. There is a great balance of two redline oils I have found that eliminates the rattle all together for normal or spirted driving. The only time I have gearbox chatter is after 6-8 laps at the track. Otherwise I dont hear it.
  20. What is the s50b32 out of? Are you using the s50b32 DME ? Do you have the s50b32 EWS and key ? 1/95 onward is the change over period for EWSII on e36/z3m. With the last of the z3m's coming with EWSIII. Cam PM you the e36 wiring PDF if you want.
