i would expect to have a gasket. its under pressure so must have something, should be a very good mounting surface so would only need a very thin layer or silicon rtv or gasket. i have done a few non bmw cars but those had the bulk of the pump machined out of the block.

i wouldnt trust a ferrari owners opinion when ferraris are not diesel. DPFs are very different from cats. most failures are caused by people not regenerating them properly when prompted. slow city driving clogs them quickly and they require occasional faster driving so the engine can up the temps and burn the crap out. this will be indicated by either a light or matrix message which is often ignored and wrecks the dpf. LiquiMoly sell a special product designed to clean out blocked filters, screws into the o2 sensor port and sprays in. probably only available to trade customers. so ring around workshops and see if they are avaiable. they probably can be removed but as said before would require ecu re tuning (which may not be possible) im not sure about legalities etc.

TV3 always planned to buy the bathurst race which sky wasnt going to stand in their way but they are legally not allowed to put bids in due to being in receivership. that being said standing in pit lane with the champagne hitting me trumps sky or tv3 or the internet. Also off topic but i spent all the money i shouldnt have buying a peter brock helmet from one of his earlier years. not painting the house till after Christmas me thinks

if we burn flyin then they will both look the same

exactly my point as long as its done well im not going to look at it and say oh sh*t it used to be a standard auto im going to look at what it has now and see what sort of car im getting for my money. matching Vin numbers etc dont mean squat to me unless its a ferrari 250 gto short wheel base. as long as its all legal that is

possibly unrelated but my 750i had the catalyst temp warning come up every day at start up. this was triggered by an cat failure producing alot of heat, it was controlled by a relay that was one use, clicked open and stayed there to keep triggering the code. is meant to be replaced but i just pulled it as the cats got removed. that was an e32 so abit older school tech. Relay has written on the side 12zyl (v12) 720'c. which is alot of heat under the car

I dont have an issue with how it has been swapped. And to be honest i think the nit picking over the ia or is badge is stupid. this may be a relativly rare version of this car but its just a version. its not going to be worth more or less based on the badge its going to be based on the condition, engine, drivetrain etc. that being said it looks like a legal swap but if i was going to part with 12K i would be wanting a more substantial confirmation that its not going to be pulled up later during a wof etc. i doubt it will ever have legal issue but i could see a wof inspector deciding it needs to be recomplied or something. TBH i think you should have keep this cars vin and plates, saying its a manual converted car especially when being done by brent makes it quality, saying plates have been swapped (even legally) will scare people off, not worth it just for an ia badge

Yea that sort of thing can be elusive, i would start with a good service, including plugs, leads, fuel filter etc. Then go from there. not usually expensive to fix but often you can end up spending money on parts you dont really need trying to find out whats actually wrong. so not a major but should definantly affect the price you offer. If you can work on it yourself taking $1000 off what you would pay for a perfectly running model will offset the cost and effort of fixing it. just my opinion

To be honest i think alot of people were being abit harsh as you say. Also as it is i believe an enthusiast or clued up individual will buy it as the average joe bloggs doesnt know how good of a car they are. for that reason I was going to suggest simplifying the auction somewhat but i see you have already done that, as the rare production numbers etc were a little to much, enthusiasts are more interested in maintenance etc I am still a little confused as to what happened with the body swap. i believe you have swapped the body over but this vin number and reg still belong to the drivetrain and interior etc? might be worth clarifying I know a local man with a e39 m5 and he lets his wife drive it as he loves his e34 6spd 540i so much more. good luck with sale, beautiful car

black car looks good. white car looks like 1840s mutton chops on an englishman

just discussing this with a workmate, he recalls stubbing his toe on the wheel of a pajero he was buying, not sure if that counts as being a tyre kicker or not.

Just list all the things you want to check out like finance, odometer history etc and tell him if he goes his way and gives the plate after sale you reserve the right to back out of the sale if anything looks dodgy also point out its impossible to look up owner details by rego he seems like a total muppet to me. wont answer questions.... dickhead

strange that trained professionals know what they are talking about huh

No easy way to tell, chip would likely make only a very small performance difference being the small engine in a big car, its not really much of a selling point for the car so the best you can really do is say it probably has a retune.

22. offers to pay by western union money order as long as you pay them to clear the funds. 23. anyone who considers buying a mazda wait no i described c**ts by accident

And for 2K as a wrecked car it would have to be pretty special or amazing condition.

I was comfortable taking mine to the track even though it was my only transport as i trusted it not to break, it was always a slide around have fun not a proper go fast track day. You will spend probably 10K just overcoming the weight difference back to a 328i. better to get a 328i and modify it. if you are looking for cheap fun you can buy a cheap 328i for just your modification budget for the 540i.

hope he didnt pay 15K for it

Original engine bay stuff wont deaden noise only heat, original interior sound deadening will do it but will be impossible to remove and reuse, Going for dynamat or similar will work and non name brand stuff isnt overly expensive., check for solid or hard urethane gearbox or engine mounts, these make alot of noise and dont make a massive difference to performance. Also if factory engine mounts fail or soften it can drop the engine down onto the steering rack which makes a horrid amount of noise and vibration.

Those things are stupid, i have used one and it just added discomfort, not to mention frayed the sh*t out of the seatbelt within 4-5 uses. a proper seat with fitted bolsters is all that is needed. Also if you crash only the chest part goes tight, not flash on you ribs and neck to take all the impact.
