just as a side note, airbags dont always just go off. many read the weight of the ocupant and for lighter people blow with a smaller charge than if a big person is in there. fixing the seat doesnt cost much, just do it

damn i wish i had money this week haha

just out of interest if bmw made the clutch lighter and dual mass to help the gearbox is this new setup going to make the gearbox the weakest link?

i have quite enjoyed some of ken follets books recently. he wrote a couple about a guy building a cathedral in the 12th century, good story and very intersting info about how they built back then. (wrote a sequal following the same town 150 years later. also have read the first two books in his century trilogy. very much reccomend them, massive amounts of intersting info about how the world worked from 1900 till 2000. (third book 1960-2000) yet to be released.

agreed. sorry guys wasnt really appropriate. im hoping the lack of news about schumacher over the past few days is a good sign. if anyone else has read richard hammonds biography about his jet car crash it has some very good info on this type of injury. basically you either go down hill fast or very very slowly get better. lets hope he can make a similar recovery.

EDIT: using the internet while tired makes you a wanker.

nice car and probably a fair price at 7k. but just as a side note it does 100% need to get a cert to be legal. this has an engine from a different block family and also has a more than 25% increase in power. it may get warrents due to the wof inspectors not knowing what they are doing but it doesnt mean you will get an insurance payout if you crash etc. being factory parts it should get a cert no worries. possibly may need a driveshaft hoop (stupid but neccesary) my advice spend a few hundred on a cert to get it legal, leave lsd in and list for 8K GLWS

really? didnt think a casual thread was subject to exam rules. could everyone please refrain from giving jamie money for that post in anycase.

So i drove from taupo to northland and back. up on 30th back on the 1st. up was fine, nice open roads. not hard to stick to 104. not many cops. the cops i saw were all in passing lanes or the bottom of hills etc. on the way back what a massive level of stupid on the roads. got stuck behind a few different people who were doing 70kph max on the open roads and looked smug like they were saving the world. also behind a nissan in stop go traffic in warkworth who had no brake lights at all. was a real pain at 5kph. finally drew the line when i was following an old campervan. (lz*** number plate so must have been old.) was a proper camper not a ute conversion and as such has the tandem rear wheels. except this f**kface has the outer wheel going with a small tyre and the inner wheels empty, just rims floating in mid air. i pulled over in wellsford and talked to a cop who had just pulled into the station. he shot off and pulled him up just out of town. i dont like to ruin peoples holidays but if you think a tare weight of 2750kg is suitable on 145 series tyres you shouldnt be on the road. and yet none of these people fall foul of the 104kph limit. also as a small acheivement i got an average consumption over 1200km of 9.9 L per 100km. much lower than quoted for the 540i and good considering i took some windy roads.

i was given a hot wheels e30 m3 for christmas. Said 1992 which was weird though
-
while we are talking about weird stuff why do many threads start going into red text after a couple of pages? or is that just me.

1. yea just replace the pump. if possible try to get a metal impeller rather than plastic. also if you need lubricant to slide the pump in use something oring safe like rubber grease. vaseline etc will deteriorate the seal in time. 2. pretty sure my 740i did the same, mine would light up the whole interior if you pulled the door handle when locked too, bit of a theif helper if you ask me. 3. yes duel zone climate control so something off, not sure what though

i got pleasently surprised by my father giving my a completly mint black e30 dash and center console, no cracks at all. will now sit aside and wait for me to buy an e30 for a my upcoming project. And my girlfriend got me a very nice set of pens for my construction drawing etc, ranging from 2.5mm to 0.1mm tips. very nice. on the downside my grandmother died yesterday which dampened the mood endlessly.

be much better to chuck the honda engine in the back
-
having the rear higher would allow less angle on the engine but having the front low means the gearbox end is more likely to hit the floor. as with everything you need two good mates to help. one to be useful and the other to drink your beer

yea as a side note to any admins that may be reading the "sponsored by" link logos beside each area no longer work, may have been missed with the forum change
-
not only are they on here they sponsor the forum out of luck by the looks

last owner of my car spent $5.5k rebuilding the box. Get a manual conversion and not only will you save heaps and get a better car it will raise the value. and if you dont drive manual, just convert it and sell it, you will still come out way ahead.
-
nasty any pics of the offending vehicle?
-
alpina touring 2002. nice

avoid red cars. alfa is yet to find a red paint that doesnt fade. v6 manual would be great otherwise a twinspark will have better efficiency. i had no trouble getting new a and used parts for mine, there is plenty available from the uk at fair prices and fast shipping. there are a couple of independants around that keep a fair amount of stock on hand of many parts. i got an alfa manual gearbox input shaft bearing same day, and it was an alfa specific part.
-
or get a hex key socket and use a powerbar.
-
i assume bmw is still subject to the regulations on how much recycled material they use? maybe they should start selling an optional extra at the factory that upgrades all the plastic cooling system crap with alloy. or at least making it standard on M cars

he said he was confident in his ability so i thought it was fairly safe to be a smartass. i find it interesting about the threads stripping out, is this common occurrence or is it one of those once in a blue moon things
