hard to say, if its when hot worst case could be big ends, if you have the time and expertise doing a set of big end bearings is good insurance for a long life.

fairly good event, better to compete than spectate but thats always true i spose. last year was average due to rain but this weekend should be a Pearla

i deal with people saying rocket cover at least a few times a week. no typos on speech.
-
shame its an auto

tbh i would try to also include pics of the actual item,as a buyer i like to see whether its wrapped up in the original box or sitting under a work bench with a rat squished beneath it. personally i would relist but depends how keen you are to sell it quick. post the link on some drift pages on facebook, those boys are always after more torque

possibly not deserved but im my defense ive been bottling this up for years from hundreds of instances.... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STOP CALLING IT A ROCKET COVER. IT COVERS ROCKERS, SO IS CALLED A ROCKER COVER. THE ONLY PLACE THAT CAN CALL IT A ROCKET COVER IS AMERICA WHERE THEY CANT PRONOUNCE THE "ER" ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATIVES ARE "TAPPET COVER" , "CAM COVER" "ENGINE SOMBRERO" or "VALVE COVER" but anyway back to it. give it a degrease and ring around shops. heaps have sand blasting cabinets and if you are capable some may let you use their machine to do it yourself for much less money than them doing it. i find sandblasting fun its nice to watch old scum and paint fly off. also i have used VHT wrinkle finish black on a m60 v8 looked very professional.

see the organiser has built a two seater top fuel funny car to give people rides. dont think it will be seen in nz though. aussie drag racing association limited its top speed to 300mph for safety. will do 0-540kph in 4.5 seconds

not bad price but only up to bmw ll-98 spec so more for older cars -
they did stuff like snapping subframes and ripped shocks out of the car and even snapped some suspension arms.

ignore the comments? i would see the comments as helpful advice from those who have been there and done that and not as criticisms

they have had a couple of crashes in the ring taxi, one even rolled. i believe they were all previously due to mechanical breakages. they maintain the cars at very tight intervals now as only being used on the track was tearing them apart within 15000kms.

a good even cast wheel will let the rim buckle in and might lose a couple of spoke but it stays on the car pretty well. if you find the other half of the wheel its still round then its a sh*t wheel. if the rim its buckled away then the spokes let go then its just a massive impact. forged > oemcast > chinese cast > no wheels at all > chlamydia > 20" chromies you would be surprised how fast rotors can wear away on hard road with a ton of load on them and plenty of speed. looks like he was going pretty fast anyway how it should be done. anyway two points. does this worry anyone about how its getting pretty hard to tell fakes from oem. also this is why trucks should have structural bumpers down to car bumper height

i had very similar when a battery terminal was loose (combined with a build up of corrosion dust) also similar with e32 750 when the rear seat moved and shorted battery positive out. car shutdown and engaged hazards etc like an accident

love that half leather look.

I saw you parked outside mobil in taupo yesterday morning. really wanted to stop and say hi but was already very late to work. though if i had been on time i wouldnt have seen you at all i guess.

im looking at the screwdriver holding the engine stand in place. yea the one sitting next to the pin thats meant to hold it. otherwise looks mint, loving this thread

possibly not a good idea but i have seen it work on another breed of car. tighten the throttle cable up just enough that its slightly holding the throttle open, enough that the engine can idle under 1000, and that the icv should be ignored or irrelevent. if it still stalls then the icv or circuit that controls it will be good. if the stall problem goes away then it would likely be the icv system. take that advice at your own risk. other than that could it be fuel pressure? if the vac hose to the regulator is blocked or leaking it could be dumping excessive fuel in when under vacuum. hold it in 2nd gear and from about 5k let it slow down with engine overrun. if its over fueling on the overrun you will likely hear a good amount of popping and crackling in the exhaust. last idea. what if it is the crank sensor but a fault elsewhere has already killed the new one like it did the last one? not sure if possible in bmws

unrelated to this but to explain why you shouldn't ground out an alloy radiator. the biggest part that throws people off is that electricity actually flows from negative to positive not the other way around. so when a radiator is grounded as alloy its very easy for electricity to flow out of the chassis through the radiator and into the engine. when it flows like this it takes particles of alloy away eventually eating away at the metal. this is much much worse when you have the normal ground cable damaged or disconnected. i have seen an mr2 try to catch fire due to the main ground strap being left off during an engine change and the engine grounded through the throttle cable which got glowing hot very quickly.

vote to take a collection to buy this man a better camera?

work areas should be clean when working on your car. and an absolute bomb site at all other times. thats how i do it anyway haha

chemical reactions increase with temperature

would be totally worth that with a manual box. tbh he will probably not have a huge amount of trouble selling it, its in great condition
-
i work in taupo but would consider commuting in from auckland just to see the b7 build

probably getting in abit late but considering that everyone ignores alarms they are good to stop the car being stolen but nothing can stop the smash and grab of personal belongings. only protection is to take everything out of the car.
