you can use factory mounts. Some people like to upgrade to stiffer mounts out of later cars, or go aftermarket delrin etc, but the factory E30 ones work fine. I think its a cert requirement that you need the corresponding material for the engine mounts too. not sure though as i just used factory stuff. You will need a driveshaft from an M20G240 (320i manual with a 240 gerabox) though as it is shorter. (edit: user -Oli- has one for sale right now, if its FL worth grabbing if you are thinking about this option as they are rare to come up, especially not as part of a conversion)

he is a business... you could try googling houndstooth i gaurentee you will get the right result.

its plastic, but not really flexible. Havent held a fiberglass replica, but i would guess fiberglass would be lighter. the real ones are heavy for what they are imo

Definately auto in photos, has the auto transmission dipstick. Tech2 rear spolier too. Doubt its a real m325i but looks like a decent price?

Hey guys so as per my M52B28 thread, i cant really be bothered keeping two threads on seperate forums up to date. As bimmersport memebers can view bimmerfest without being a member, but the you have to be a member of bimmersport to be able to view the pages (well so im told anyway), ill keep the thread there and link to it here. Ill post in this thread when there are updates. If you are a member there, feel free to post on that thread. any comment critism etc here ill copy and paste the there so its all one thread. Churrrrr Link here http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthrea...536#post6328536 updated today 20/9/11

yup. to give you an idea, most of the manual M325i's and msport E30s ive gone to see or owned were fitted with 3.67 LSD, though some with 3.9x. its up to you really. For the best compromise on preformance and economy id be going for a 3.67 though, i found it great in my 2.8L

another BMW in the shed from the saved money then? Well done though mate! I have never had a single one and dont plan to start (mind you money saved goes on booze...), but it goes to show it can be done, even after smoking for all these years! Top effort

headlights from usa for an e39 - can it be done ?
_ethrty-Andy_ replied to jody's topic in Appearance
you will be able to find one local you cannot use ones from the states as they will be for LHD cars. these have a different beam pattern to RHD cars as to avoid dazzeling oncoming traffic. this will be back to front in NZ and blind oncoming traffic even on dip edit: i think Jon/JKSouthern Euro has an E39 in the yard from memory -
id be more worried as to where the plastic bit went...

i hope im not getting worried! welcome to bimmersport -
That box has done 200ish miles which is just over 300kms. That said, its tighter than a nuns jaxy and came off the back off a 1600cc. Its was a lot better than one i had that had done half the kms, so id guess it either has had a rebuild at some point or isnt the original gearbox in that car and therefore done less kms. No syncro cruch or anything like that whatsoever.

Good to see some progress! What milage is the gearbox you already have got on it? How recently have you got a wof with the rack like that? Looks pretty scary! Maybe an old engine mount collapsed? In anycase an E36 rack should be good. Try and get the lines and reservoir as well, will make hooking it up the the power steering pump easier as the lines on there now are for an e30 rack and the pump is an e36 pump so should be all bolt up if you get the lines too. Oh and Positive camber ftw

Is the car by chance a coupe? Someq members on here were compling a list of 318iS's aparently they are rare. you sure about a supercharger? Would be far more cost effective to sell it and buy a 328i. In anycase, welcome to bimmersport

if you use the one i gave you then yes its an M40G240 gearbox. anything else and you end up needing custom mounts and/or driveshaft. to my knowledge its the only manual gearbox that allows you to use 100% BMW parts bin stuff
-
i bet the novelty of the car would wear off quite quickly though? What was the car built to commemorate?
-
Wow look at the price! Wont be around for long! Pity i cant make the investment myself!
-
I would say its easier with studs.. Preference i suppose Ahh this makes sence. Thanks

excuse the apparent ignorance, but whats the advantage of these?

Saw a silver e46 with bimmersport plate surrounds in a parking building near victoria/queens streets in auckland..
-
yes but MAKE SURE you get it around the right way, or it will create a lot more issues than it will save. Thats a good method too
-
are you able to expand on this? havent heard of this one! I assume its LH side because of BMWs being LHD in most countries?
-
there is a way to pop the bonnet by poking a screw driver through the grill and pushing the pin back. Havent done the proceedure, just google it. Then connect the car to a charged car and unlock the doors.

Make sure the seats are all the way forward on BOTH rails before you start, and only locate the bolts until all 4 are in.
