If they do write it off there's a chance you'll get first refusal on buying it off them Is the threshold still around the 60% mark?
-
They cannot be complied due to frontal impact requirements, was my understanding. Build numbers might be an impediment to importing one as a special interest vehicle, though I'm not 100% sure on that point. Could buy one from the UK then transplant all parts to a donor shell. But then it's not a real M. One will turn up, you'll just have to be patient. And have a large pile of pennies when one does!!

+1 Waiatarua Reserve was bloody marvellous for our mutt. Some bits of Ellerslie still represent reasonable value for your money. Only real trouble with the central 'burbs is finding a halfway respectable shed! A lot of places have laundries with space for a car or two, not really anything you can park two cars in as well as have room for an engine stand & a workbench. What it really boils down to is how much of your time can you happily sacrifice to commuting. From there you can gauge what areas fit your needs and budget. Or just do what most of us in Jafaland have to do and rent

That looks a lot like a flowmaster backbox to me. No internal sound deadening, just angled baffles which will explain the 'rasp'. Cats look similar to those on my 325i so I'm assuming they're stock. Was fairly sure the E36 M3 ran twin 2.5" (?) from headers to tips, not including a single merge just after the cats. That kink to get past the rear trailing arm almost looks like it's press bent. Any etching on the exhaust tips? Are they proper twin or siamese? Might just be easier to buy a Remus muffler than try to chase out an OEM unit. Will sound nicer too!

It's a damn sight better than the E36 in Thames with the 3.5l Rover v8 and manual box swap At least the chevy develops some useable power!

Good sh*t man! Photos! Photos! Photos!

Rego tag VOLK? Saw this in Newmarket a few weeks back, was rather intrigued by what appeared to be a discreet intercooler hiding behind the bumper.

Looks like the reverse light to me. Is the round plug in your hand the connector for the O2 sensor?
-
I'd forgotten just how good Style 5s look on the E30 Might not be Euro spec with the dog box but I'm sure these things can be overlooked. Gorgeous!
-
Might have a spare in the shed, OEM alloy. No gaskets though sorry

Ha! Trust the Germans to figure how to make an incendiary device into a safety feature!

So what about those of us with OBDI? Where should we go looking? Would be nice to reset my auto ECU to manual. Rev flare on gear change sucks!

Didn't know there was one in NZ. Bitchin'!

If you're open to commuting there are some fantastic areas south and west away from the suburban white noise. Kumeu / Huapai out west is nice, though can be expensive. Pukekohe and surrounds is great too (south) I have a mate east of Huapai, takes him about the same amount of time to the city as me (Waiuku -> city 55 min, though I do leave at 6 for a 7am start) Transit times will kill your will to live, though if you love where you live the time is worth it

Thanks for doing all the hard work Josh. Will be getting on to earthing mine this weekend. Any particular gauge cable recommended?
-
Would you be looking to sell the LHD headers?

Not knowing very much about E30s I didn't want to make the roof comment, but I did think it looked unusually crass. The seat trim is just shite. There. I said it. ABS on a 1986 build year would be hit and miss at best I'd think. Personally I'd leave it 100% standard, I have a suspicion 'verts will start to achieve near - M3 prices sooner rather than later. Justifiably so too, one of the VERY few cars that pulls off coupe, sedan and topless. Having said that, another chop-top with 17" Alpinas would make a welcome sight

Of all the cars that deserve to be written off by a boy racer with minimal concept of stopping distances.........
-
The Hellrot is by far the better looker in my books. Houndstooth + manual = perfect cruiser! 10k is probably pretty reasonable too The Calypso is certainly nice, but the monogramming on the seats ruins it for me

Going by the photo I'd say they're off an E39. ET15 or thereabouts? Dammit, if only these were up for grabs in +/- 3 months
-
Sigh, would that I could! Wifey would use my gonads for xmas tree decorations if I ever tried a stunt like that!

Was aware that the M54 crank will slot in, didn't know the S50 is a no-go. Thanks!
