  1. Sorry about the big url can't do the small linky thing. Love the description of this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-252931177.htm
  2. BMW NZ reserved all 999 BMW gov't issue plates did a deal and made them all euro size and gave them away with new cars back in 03 or whenever BMW sequence were issued, so the story goes thats why they are several hundred to buy now
  3. I just decided to go this way these plate surrounds are euro size that fits normal size, you could stick any vynal decal you like on them. If you had normal size number plates that is.
  4. That chap there Mike is it will know, let him have a look over it for ball joints and future maintenance that may come up, coolant and brake fluid change and battery service are good preventative measures.
  5. Looks good had you thought of painting the sills or leaving them black?
  6. Sounds like yours needs pads and rotors and maybe a machine skim on the discs, E39 chew out the front's.
  7. I had a similar problem I knew I had to replace a tie rod end, they go on everycar, but my I had handling slight wobble and ratly steering casing behind the wheel, it ended up being the UJ in the steering column thats replaced and it is now a totally different car, it handles steers, heaps more cntrol and positive feel about it can't believe it has passed so many warrants, so take it a specialist and get it looked at.
  8. I never would they have a pretty full on positive terminal connection don't they, just wondered why they require a special battery thats all.
  9. I had my battery serviced along with other things today, I read on here that when the summer comes they can dry out easier, knowing the cost of replacement etc. Why can't you put in any ordinary batteries in them does it matter, my car is per my username.
  10. 528i are awesome cars 147kw very tourquey tows better than my 01 AU Falcon, not overly fast but plenty of power if you need it, love it woudn't have any other car for now.
  11. Not having an engine is a major, as you can buy E39 with them and get allot of car for $10-12k. Thats a motorsport with good interior, he is best to wreck that car, get his money that way. 400 chev sounded like a good idea, it's not quite old and classic enougth the E39 to re-power I feel, interesting bloody project alright what happened to the motor???
  12. E39 Advice, Look for Kiwi new or Japan import not singapoor. Look for service history, get it pre-purchase inspection by a BMW dealer or specialised garage. Check cooling system to see if original (plastic parts), check smoothness of transmission change when cold at low speed, go for a 6 cylinder IMO, stay away from a 96 520i as they are a bit underpowered but cheap have seen them for as low as $4k. Despite other opinions they are of not lessor quality to the predesecor E34, I know I've had both. Most importantly take your time, make sure no historical electrical fault codes logged in the ecu and no dash warning lights are on, dont' buy on looks buy on the merits and you should be fine. Check the person selling if they looked liked they skimped on servicing then it will haunt you if they look flush and what ever the car needed it got type are always the best. E39 same as above but the 5 series are easier to sell usually.
  13. Hey Poster 1 Like the sound of your car, put your location in your settings and welcome to the boards. Love to see some pics of the touring, and the dirty 30.

    E34 Picsssss

You've got it sitting nice, right height, looks nice what K's on it?
  15. Nice car mate half a mill on the clock??? I thought I heard you mention. doesn't look it.
  16. I'd get the Porsche and go to the auctions and buy a $1k shitter daily thrash hack or bus pass, and let the Porsche sit some more and put 5,000k's per year on it e.g.
  17. No doubt about it what a shame remember listening to BAD in the days when it came out. He absolutely loved Elvis and I think was quite like Elvis, modern day elvis just an absolute mega star. They both died the same way Elvis 42 and MJ 50 There will never be another Michael Jackson in our lifetimes.
  18. I like the old E32's something about that shape see one on TM for $1650 that white one. Considered a E38 but needed the extra space of the touring.
  19. What K's on your e39 Lady?? That little ashtray feature is unique never seen any other car with that makes perfect sense to. Plenty of space around the centre console and compartments, in those and the lights in the visor mirror got to love that well my misses does checks her make up before she leaves the car in the dark. That headlight adjuster by the spot lights is intersting lifts the headlight range up and down seen that?
  20. Sure is works well on this car transforms it from a crusiser to a low geared freak
  21. Loving my touring at the moment just running so sweet, just a superb motor car this would be my 54th personal vehicle I have owned. This thread is to list the likes about your present ride. 1. Leather Seats. 2. Kick down mode. 3. Heater. meanest heater ever 4. Respect earned no one attempts to pass now unless you let them. 5. 6 Disc staker. 6. Blue glass mirrors - wicked with the sun on them. 8. Power, grace, and space and safe. 9. 3000rpm sound of the M52. Just wicked loving it.
  22. Agree with Grant might as well buy a couch and cruse around in that, not my cuppa - mint no doubt about it, worth moon beams one day doubt it.
  23. Yes the cam and crank sensors are common faults, and the cooling systems are as well, can't win them all. It depends who you talk to about the trans some say service it others say it will never be the same once you break the factory seal?? so I don't know name a make of car that will never give problems and I will buy it make that 2 of them tomorrow.
  24. Best thing is there a few dead ones around now, so ECU's and the likes are far more resonably priced why pay $2500k for one when you can get a higher K early nineties complete car with Wof e39 for about $6k. I know of two down the road and Australia has cheaper parts than here, shop around and they are no different to maintain than any jap car really. Best advice I've had is to plug them into a BMW computer and if no historical electrical fault codes logged, they tend to not get them ever by rights, obviously always a first for everything but how often have you heard, ecu been changed 3 times etc. etc. oh yes the gremlins or the Friday car. Remember there are good cars and there are better ones.
