Hi there I am looking for a dude from New Plymouth who use to drive up until a few years ago a black E32 730i quite mint with tints and later model 7 series alloys, he had a E34 520i in silver before that and last I sore of him 12 months ago he had a E36 blue sedan. Sorry for asking but can you PM if you know his whereabouts, I thought this would be a good place to ask as he owns nothing but bimmers and NP people know everyone. Cheers Kieran

I am going to put a downer on the tie them up nude idea this happened in Levin recently tied the groom up to a power pole and left him there and someone stopped and bumbed him for a few minutes rapped him no sh*t don't even go there.

Poster 1 I like your enthusiasim and trying something different, I just think that a kiwi E36 328i is just to damn modern to give the rust look, unless of coarse you do the whole car like the E28 second or third post. Good to see you have the gumption to make your ride your own.

Woudn't hesistate with those k's even though it has done over 350k, I think he's about $1400 to dear looks like $1500 worth to me considering k's and comparitive e34's, even though it's a kiwi 535i, obviously a good one to get that high in the k's. Just had a bit spent on it as well, but considering the amount of time you will own it for you may be the last owner once it gets close to 400k in 18 months time and needs a grands plus worth of maintenance you will find yourself in the situation you are now looking for another cars as the 535i won't be worth fixing.

Double your budget and buy this, it looks nice. Failing that I would take the green E38 for a "long walk with uncle tony", being serious now, take it and get it checked over for electrics and bushes and joints underneath, shocks and the like, I'd offer him $2200 for it. The nikasil problem is virtually non existant in NZ as we had less than 1.0 millionth whatever it was in our fuel, it was mainly northern England that was effected and it was mostly 97-April 98 M52 single vanos engines. I checked all that out before buying mine as my engine was directly affected. That green one in PN has been for sale a while and it's on hold so has all the maintenance I would suspect I woudn't be afraid of the higher K's on either really.

BMW have shelved heaps of radical motorbike designs leading to the chief designer quitting etc.

Does aye - shame they never produced a E34 convertible, reading the production figures for the E39 1.5 million made including over 20,000 M5's over 9 years hugely popular, pity they didn't make the M5 touring.
-
You may have all been aware of this but here you go. In 1989, Motorsport engineers developed an M5 convertible, with two lengthened front doors and seating for four. It really did come very close to production - a price of 50,000 GBP was agreed, and space was even booked at the Geneva motor show. But one week before its intended debut, BMW ‘killed’ it, believing it would have led to a demand for non-M 5 Series convertibles, which might have dented drop-top 3 Series sales.†The car looks pretty good even in the present times and it will definitely turn heads while rolling down the street. Also, take a look at that license plate. Do you see the ZS in there? The ZS stands for BMW Individual.

Keep posting everyone I'm relatively new on here and this thread is sorting the men from the boys.

Use isopropryl alcohol (sp) the best thing thats what we use in the print trade, sourced from print suppliers.

Spotted a white e30 sedan parked on someones front lawn out of longburn between palmy and himatangi, it hasn't moved for months getting that sitting look happening whoever owns it time to cut it loose looks like wrecking value now.
-
I like the fact it is a NZ site mention a car or business or person and someone on here will know them tis a small village New Zealand. You can genuinely learn on here and not back out with a boot load of bullshit.
-
There was a similar wreck damage wise to that a few months ago, a 97 520i with tan interior he ended up getting $2500 for it just so you know as far as likely value etc. Yours being a V8 might help a bit.

Mike - Do you play that game where you have to pass the car in front of you then eliminate them from your rear view mirror I would say the 540 would be the weapon of choice for that? Poster 1 here here on the aussie car comments I can vouch I've had 7 falcons and currently daily a BA XR6 and they are nothing on the German engineering in terms of refinement. test drive a few cars and see how you go. I find my E39 to small if anything.

Apparently the russians shipped them here on the deck of the cargo ships getting nicely salt spray expsoure, didn't kill them though the rust solid little tanks, don't the Mitsubishi 1600-2000cc of the early 80's sigmas bolt straight in same electrics as well? astounded with my lada product knowledge.

Why can you see a E39 costing more in maintenance and fuel. I suspect you are wanting a 2.5L engine for the open road???, I would pick a 523i-530i for that money with people and open road, you'll know all about the 1800cc 3 series real quick. Once again why do the E39's cost more in maintenance?, have you been misinformed, it's a good budget maybe a 330i e46. E39 or SAAB 95 01 aero wagon for $17k in Wellington a few months back was tempting.
-
The NZ Dairy board did a deal with Russia in 1987 for 400 Lada cars for a few tonne of butter true story thats why most lada's are 87 in NZ. They sold them off here new to recoup the cost, a lada will almost always win a demo derby if the electrics didn't fail them, very solid.
-
If you have two keys carry them with you it may also be your module on your key as well.
-
Yes they are a common fault on them and around $380.00 to replace. Get it looked at as the wrigling in the ignition will fail you one day. Same with the faulty cam sensor in the E39 as well.
-
I would of been keen but I tow with my 2.8L a 1200kg caravan and it"s not to bad, just use the steppy to change into 5th as it will stay in 4th at 100k doing 3200rpm, but I see what you mean you need the bubble but for space when camping, get a touring 540i ultimate then.
-
Go for it don't worry about the maintenance cost, give you something to do and spend your money on instead of power and phone bills.
-
They seem to command a premium over sedans, same with E46 as well, just the way it is really people pay the extra, not as common I would suspect. The luxury wagon market is limited to a few and the Mercs, Audi's and Volvo's are equally as rear.

Not being original I would say $4300-$4700.
