E34's are a bit funny, cos if you add some nice wheels, & ditch the amber indicators for 'clears', it instantly modernises them a fair bit, going off pics I've seen anyway.........

I tend to find I compromise at times, & then just after I get what I'm 'prepared to settle for', what I really wanting starts literally falling outa the trees coupla weeks later........Murphy & his poxy law then has a good laugh Right, I'm back to Trademe, looking for axle stands.............

Yea, I agree with ya Paul - its funny seeing all the different colours available when looking on the M5 board - I certainly don't want a black one, & for some reason, even though the kms are up a bit, I just really like this particular unit. Each to their own & all, but to me, the E39 M5 is probably the ultimate M car to own. Theres just 'something about them'. Others get all excited & make funny messes due to E36 M3's - I really don't see what the fuss is about personally in comparison with these.........certainly in its timespan I believe it would have been the ultimate 4 door saloon for versatility, refinement, performance, handling, features & comfort. I'm not convinced that's right, but Ron will have a far better idea on it than me. The brake bit sounds weird in its own right - its bit like its got a dragging caliper / piston not returning properly in LHF, or needs bled in RHF. At a low speed, 15kph say, what happens if you hit the picks on a loose surface?? Is it consistently locking the LHF tyre before RHS?? You'll see it in the marks........ If you jack it up, both front wheels are turning freely...........no drag from LHF brake.???

Agree.................much as I said in a earlier post re camber, castor etc in relation to its current ride height vs factory specs......& ditto re tyres - we both posted that at the same time....... I'm a bit like Ron - theres a guy I use that really knows his stuff, he hasn't got the latest gear, but he does a primo job - unlike some other places that have the latest greatest gear, but a retarded gimp operating it............ Roads I get around on have camber - its there so the rain runs off, thus not turning the road into a tarseal lined duck-pond......

You sure its not road camber doing it?? Most vehicles will roll off to the left at factory spec settings - that way when a retarded muppet falls asleep @ the wheel, they hook left into the shrubbery, rather than crossing the centre-line & collecting you / me etc........you've also got to factor in that your tyres will currently have a wear pattern on them, which won't help much. Because you're running the set-up you are, you can't just rotate the tyres front to back as per what would usually be done.......... I'll leave you to ponder the cure for that............... Might be easier just to factor in an alignment every 6 months tho

I think its good in some ways for us as enthusiasts, as it makes things a lot more affordable, achievable & realistic. Somewhere though, some-one is taking some serious hidings in terms of devalue, maintance etc, & I think what Matt is saying is right, although I'm not convinced how much fuel prices comes into it - realistically theres very little difference on running costs on something that might use 2L/100 less fuel. Its nuts really, as you'll see people hock a Camry, for a Corolla, (for arguments sake), H/P 10k to do so, to save $$?? in fuel - the logic is wrong IMO. Its like this 540 - just a bargin - you'd pay more for a Commodore / Falcon / Corolla of the same year............& this'll be twice the vehicle to drive, with heaps of usable life ahead of it. I think The 'BMW stigma' has lots to do with it - you tell some people what you own, & they look at ya like you've grown an extra head or have got 6 fingers or whatever - yet they're quite happily driving around in some sack of $hit...............

Been for sale for ages, & bar the state of the kiwi economy, I really can't understand why it hasn't sold 10x over at around that 20k pricing. I personally think its fairly reasonably priced, its a neat colour, & its well proven overseas that these things can do high kms without too much grief, so its about 'run in', plus a bit......I'd grab it without batting an eyelid if I didn't have more than enough vehicles anyway @ the mo........
