  1. I'll back everything Glenn said there.................that exactly hits the nail on the head, specially the comment bout brakes - I thought same when I first read what had been said........ditto too what Hotwire came out with - good stuff! Dave has also raised some valid points at times though too, in fairness......... I'm self-employed, doing something with vehicles the majority of the time, & I too get 1-off phone-calls from 'price-shoppers', & ya can tell by the questions they ask, & how they ask...... Much like Glenn, I'd sooner drink coffee, than do a job for cost, or have it costing me money - I've seen others do that & its a great way to go broke quick....... In terms of whats a high risk / low risk 'job' on a motor vehicle - that's different things to different people depending on skill levels etc. From my perspective - it has absolutely amazed me watching the mechanical knowledge on motor vehicles, by drivers, decline rapidly & steadily over time, especially over the last 10 years. Basic skills, like checking oil, knowing how to change a tyre, etc etc, are no longer there in the majority of cases where drivers are 35 yrs old or younger.........and - its not a 'gender specific' thing either, like it may have once been......
  2. Hi Charles. Probably a tough decision between those 2 really - I personally think the 540 needs to be a bit cheaper........but based on what you say intended use is, if I were you out of those 2 I'd buy the 530, specially given its a NZ new car. If it were myself though, I'd lean on the guy selling the 540, see if I could get it a bit cheaper (its been for sale for a while.......) because irrespective of anything else, theres nothing like a V8............. They've got more grunt than a wild pig............& for what they are & the performance they've got - they are great on fuel......... Edit - spelling.
  3. That's quite a 'sick' little thing ae - very kooool!!! Too much time, too much money, & not enough 'meds' with the morning coffee's can lead to this........
  4. I'm picking its one of those 'Auckland things' I've heard about..............
  5. Maybe he's a dentist........ I think Glenn raises a valid point though.............. ....umm throughout the thread really.......as does Juxu too.......
  6. Worrying @ multiple levels that you have worked this out...................
  7. Photos - this means nothing without outa focus 'on the pi$$' pics showing your bus headlights ae.......& the new 'M's........
  8. Probably only worth 15k after coupla more 'owners'............
  9. Funny^^^^^ cos I end up hard wiring my jap utes etc so they're live all the time - that way ya can lock it while in town & leave cellphone or whatever still charging (opps, my bad - I'm one of those people that walks away from my 'locator device' at times....)
  10. Why would you do that, in order to own a Nissan though?? In Jooles case, I can understand it being a bit quicker than him standing on a street corner on Friday nights, & at least he'd have a great car afterwards........ But a Nissan?? --------------------> EPIC FAIL!!!!!
  11. Whenever I'm in Canterbury, 110 - 115 seems to be natural traffic flow speed anyway there south of Chch........Bummer bout your ticket, but yes, instant 'flick-on' seems to be the way they always operate now. If you're a single vehicle in open spaces exceeding the limit & there's a donut muncher Highway Patrol officer looking for quota lurking around doing his job, you're fairly much gonski thesedays, radar detector or not.......
  12. Now that's rather special, in every way............... Why would ya sell it though??
  13. Yea, you're right re E46 M3. The E36 M3 is a koool car, but its also supply + demand + rarity............
  14. ^^^^^^^^^^ Primo - I love stories like that!! Theres a vehicle out there I've now owned 3 times, haha.
  15. That's better, & gives me better understanding..........awesome. Thanks Yes, primo list........
  16. You're safe - she brought it for Pablo instead..............
  17. 3 posts back might want tweaked a bit then............... Bummer - that's a fairly average looking job.................I'd be disappointed too........
  18. Nice car that............ Unless it was 'special order', weren't most NZ new 540's ASE spec?? This would then have 'dealer fit' parts via 'Motorsport' catalogue.....?? Its got M spec wheels, trims, steering wheel etc.........my understanding (happy to be corrected...) is the Motorsport stuff is only 'bolt-in bits', which is sorta tarts up a std spec car without going to full monty of a M5 version...... I do like this black one, & at anything less than 5k I think its a bargin really.......
  19. 'Here, hold my beer + retard + camera = You-tube'. Please add options 'lack of skills', 'low IQ', 'lots of $$$$$$$' for maximum viewing pleasure. Its great.....................
  20. Funny - I read that discussion as being worded differently. You'd said that you wanted a mint low km NZ new blue one with leather interior, for 12-15k from memory as to you that's what they're worth, & people should be beating a path to your door wanting to off-load them for that.......... As mentioned there, & also here again 'Good luck with that' - IMO theres high odds you'll have to change your criteria a bit, or the price you're willing to pay....... IIRC, the next thing you were talking bout was a non-mint UK import one that needs a bit of TLC, but was priced accordingly at the time........
  21. If you don't speed - don't drink & then drive - don't text while driving - don't drive with mind altering drugs in your system - buy a car that has ESC, more airbags than Dolly Parton's implants & crash tests well - travel on the open road as a line up of sheep behind the weakest dumbest slowest link, we won't have a road toll. There will be no deaths on our roads. I just dunno whats wrong with you people out there but the message is OBVIOUSLY not getting through..............are you a little bit thick or something?? Right, ok, fine, be like that then - the next brain-fart I have will be painting some Highway Patrol cars a different colour...maybe that'll learn ya's a bit better....................
  22. Funny, as I reckon low 30's would be top dollar for it IMO............
  23. Phil-540i

    Ouch

Ahh, rodgey - its a Gerlish phrase then.......probably explains it...........
  24. I'm busy telling myself '1 is enough' - sweeeeeet unit!!! Wheels & pp could easily find new homes on mine........
