    Laptops

My laptop shat itself the other day, so it's time for a long overdue update. I've been looking around, and I'm after opinions from all the "in the know" people. I want it to be fast (obviously), don't need huge storage, anything over 500gb is sweet. I'll be using it for mainly microsoft word and excel, MATLAB, photoshop, lightroom and the internet. MATLAB, Photoshop and Lightroom all need a relatively fast computer as far as I'm aware (they're the main programs that give me grief on my old laptop). The photo work will be working with RAW files and multiple layers. Budget is only around $1000 at this stage. To me this laptop here looks like a great deal, the specs are well and truly above any others around that price range. Is there a catch? Am I missing something? Like I say I don't know much about computers, feel free to school me! Should I be looking at computers with an SSD? Also put up any links to laptops you think I should have a look at. I should mention that aside from the performance a good screen would be good for the photo editing, good battery life would be also be a plus. Thanks guys
  2. To get me to sell it I'd want at least $600 at this stage, otherwise I'll just keep it. Let me know
  3. Hmm I think I'll just hold on to it for that price
  4. Hi have you got the boot spoiler for the mtech kit? Cheers
  5. Also interested if Jason doesn't take it.
  6. Interesting, glad to hear you got it sorted. Floyd didn't call me yesterday to update me as promised, so I called and spoke to Izaaz because Floyd wasn't in. He told me my bumper wasn't there which means it should be at the paint shop, and said Floyd will call me asap to update me. Didn't get a call today so I'll give him a call tomorrow morning and see if it's finally been painted. I'd love to get this over with - it's been nearly 2 months (so that's around $50 of rego wasted, 2 months of inconvenience, and a whole lot of hassel). Fingers crossed mine turns out sweet! As a side note I hope they remembered to strip off all the old paint before painting it.
  7. I have one that I don't really use that much, so could be tempted into letting it go. Not sure what they're worth these days, how much are you wanting to pay? It comes with sunvisor mount, original power cable and another straight power cable I used to hardwire it in my old E30.
  8. Yeah ok, we can sort something out when we both have our bumpers back. I've just spoken to Floyd from Street Pro, he explained the situtation with the mess that Vinda left, what needs to be done etc. He seems much better to deal with, I'm in two minds about whether this place will sort it out good now. I'm going to head in this week to drop off my fuel flap so they can colour match the paint (Something that Vinda never let me do) and give them one last chance to sort this mess out.

    WTB

I might be in for one or two if you get them cheap enough. As a side note, US$1 = NZ$1.22 ish at the moment
  10. I'd be all over these if they were in Auckland! Might be a bit of a push fitting those on an e30 though - but I'd love to see someone give it a go!
  11. Woah I coulda done better with a spray can! I'm going in this week (if I get time, if not then next week) to pick mine up, done or not. This is exactly what I plan to do (if mine's not up to scratch)
  12. Installed my powerflex diff mount, put my diff back together with Right Stuff gasket maker. No more oil spots in the garage!
  13. Bump tried Gavin but he'd need to order it from germany, would rather have it sooner than 2 weeks if possible. Any second hand ones also considered!
  14. I used to see 6STRNG all the time in parnell, love that plate! Nice car too

    Quick Questions

I'll try here aswell since I haven't had any luck in the WTB section. Does anyone know where I can get a speed sensor, part number 62 16 8 355 008 (old part number is 62 16 1 385 583 so that's fine too)? For E30. I'd prefer somewhere in NZ because the shipping from pelican parts is >$40 for a $30 part! Thanks guys
  16. Benzin is actually German for petrol. I assume the owner saw/heard that it was Benzin powered and somehow got confused with Mercedes Benz.
  17. Oh dude, same place? Damn if you've been waiting since the 5th of May I've got no chance of getting mine done! Have you been dealing with Vinda? Have you emailed Yazoom?
  18. After a speed sensor, part number 62 16 8 355 008 (old part number is 62 16 1 385 583 so that's fine too). Prefer brand new or near new, just seeing what's out there since pelican parts want more for shipping than what the actual item costs. Also wanting the associated o-ring.

    Quick Questions

What torque do I tighten the bolts holdinging the diff cover on to? Afaik the fill/drain plugs should be 41ft.lb, but I don't know about the rest. And how tight for the bolt that holds the diff (the one that goes through the diff mount bush)? Thanks guys
  20. Time to go back on topic with a bit of an update. Earlier this week I was told by the guy I had been dealing with (His name's Vinda) that my bumper had been painted and he'd call me to organise pick up this week. I called again today because I didn't get any calls from him (like usual) and aparently he's been fired for mucking customers around. There's a new guy there now who's taken over his job, and he's just told me that my bumper is still on the shope floor, and hasn't even been painted yet! Anyway, hopefully with Vinda gone their company will stick to what they say and stop misleading customers. It'd be nice to have my bloody bumper back too! It's been 6 weeks today.
  21. Bit the bullet and got Permatex "Right Stuff" gasket maker over the cheaper Permatex products. The guy at the shop said it makes gaskets to the quality of pre made rubber gaskets, so I guess time will tell!
  22. Have you got the side panels to go with the boot carpet? My car's missing the RHS boot lining
  23. My diff's been slowly dripping my precious redline fluid so I've decided it's time to replace the seal on the diff cover (which is where the leak seems to be). I'm just wondering what your opinions are on the chemical gasket maker used in this write up? Seems to make sense over a paper gasket but I thought I'd get some professional opinions before I order it. Cheers in advance
  24. Just quickly OT again - Navin how much is one of those aerials?
