Save the money and get a v1. I got mine cheap off trademe (~500) and never regretted it. Yeah it's only got to save you one ticket to pay for itself, but in the case where it does pick up the radar before the radar picks you up, you might be so used to it going off for false alerts that you just ignore it..

My old NZ new e30 325i had a sticker inside the petrol flap saying "Use only Unleaded 91" so thats what I always used.. Maybe I should start running 98 in the m50 then? It's just so damn expensive.. I can hardly afford to run it on 91 these days..
