So over the last few days Ive replaced all the shims so all valve clearances are with in tolerance, driveshaft coupler, kidney grills were abit stonechipped so repainted them, fixed p.steering leaks and replaced fluid, removed old bushes for the new powerflex to be fitted tomorrow morning. Also discovered Ive ordered the wrong hose so will need to re order unless I can find one at repco or the likes. I think thats about it

I'd say the water pump would of failed at around those kms and guessing it's never been done before. The t.stat usually gets abit sticky in old age but generally wont shut properly so takes a while to heat up like my 328 I just not long did and the waterpumps have been known to shear the plastic impeller off so it doesn't spin. Would still pay to check h.g to see if it's alight.

I really should of updated this ages ago to say I have a set of style 5s for it now, but I think Im becomming a bit of a wheel whore as Im still keeping an eye on whats out there haha. I still do like the look of the BBS LM's or the MMR eurotek UO3 equvilent...

-

Ooooo the missus wants a new car...might as well be a bimmer to go with the rest...

If you can't get one, a broom handle or a vivid with abit of tape works a treat!

I got a firebrand one from the warehouse about 7-8 years ago for $50 with about 40 discs and have given that a hiding over the years and still works fine! Only thing I had to do on it was replace the lead on it last week as I kept shocking myself on it where I had cut through the phase wire haha.

Hahaha good ad!

Everyone has an M3, not many have a Z4M. They do look pretty badass and no way a hairdressers car imo. but it all depends on how practical it is for you.
-
someone has removed a vacuum hose from here in the M3 and just taped the end of the T up. comes off that senor to the right then splits off it. Tried looking on realoem but couldnt find anything or anything obvious around the engine bay. anyone got an Idea where it should go?
-
took the wheels off the M3 today and gave them a good clean all ready to sell to make room for the style 5s. fronts are 8.5 et38 with 225/35/19 archillies tyres and rears are 9.5 et32 with 245/35/19 dayton tyres with about 5-6mm tread left on all. They could do with abit of a tidyup, have been resprayed at some point as it looks like old paint was cracking which was just sprayed straight over but still looks fine. has the odd small scrape mark on the very edge of the lips, have photos to show the worst wheels and of two small dints on the very outter lips. looking for around $1300 ono.

Got all the shims, gaskets and hose sorted with Paul at Milland and should be here next week. had this lot arrive today from Schmiedmann to add to the other assortment of bits Here the paitient in the operating theatre Got the new waterpump and thermostat fitted today, radiator and oil cooler back it place, tinted the tail lights red and that was about it today, figured I should spend some time on the deck since it was nice and im running outta days off fast.
-
Yes apon further investigation it appears it is, stupid emissions crap.
-
Also measured all the valve clearances and shims today and figured out what ones I can swap around to get back within tolerances and what sizes I need to order. so emailed Paul at Milland with the list aswell as a new cam cover gasket and the two centre cover gaskets as they were leaking oil into the sparkplug wells. Don't think the clearances had been done in awhile as only 2 were within tolerances and 3 were right on the limit out of 24! .03mm was the average on intake and .05mm on exhaust. Hoping my parcel from Schmiedmann arrives tomorrow so can fit waterpump, driveshaft coupler and new lower front arm rear bushes while I wait for todays order to arrive

Well I did have a eye out for a damaged m3 to make an m3 touring but ended up with a semi good m3 instead. Still don't think the missus likes me for bringing it home She's not sold on it yet and hates the wagon and can't believe im getting rid of the 328 which is the only one she likes, but it's not all about her!
-
Cheers dude, used to have 3 e30s at one point untill I upgraded haha, only one was a good one tho. In the looks department the wagons my fav too, something abit different, put the rusted bonnet on it yesterday... Thatll stir afew people up will put some pics up in that thread tomorrow

An E39 in Balclutha with ASC type 3s on it. Makes me want a set
-
Drove the 328i to Otautau and back again, another 580km trip. Had to stop in balclutha to clean windscreen as wipers wouldn't clean all the bugs off! Joys of driving at dusk/night Plus some more work done on the m3
-
Looks like you have an interesting time ahead of you, good luck!

Gave the M3 abit of attention today and knocked afew things off the list. discovered afew reasons why its been idleing abit rough. one was a gammied up ICV, one was a vacuum hose thats collapsed, one was a vacuum T join with one end taped up-need to find where its ment to go and the hose from the either the powersteering pump or ac pump that runs into the airbox was off. checked afew of the valve clearances and some are out so need to buy a mircometer tomorrow to measure shims so I know what size to order.
