  1. E30 tax has been over-applied. Only $10k away from being a $15k car.
  2. This. I doubt anyone would contest my - our - enthusiasm for the E30, but they've reached the point now where they are no longer simply an enthusiasts car. Anyone wanting to get into a genuinely really good E30, and keep it that way, will need to anticipate parting with 5 figures or any desirable model. Base model 316 M40 automatics and the like are massively overpriced imho and while I do much prefer the M10 318, they are appreciating due to their age and perceived 'classic' status. (Make anything more expensive by adding 'classic' and 'rare' to your advert!) Anyone wanting a good E30 now needs some significant funds behind them. Making it special will add to cost, but not necessarily value.
  3. I'm only quoting based on experience and reports! As I said, I'm sure he does have some great cars. Sadly a well-reported number have not been.
  4. He has several TradeMe accounts, and sells on Facebook. He was kicked out of a Land Rover owners group after a couple of sales proved to be extremely unlike the description, so he started his own group. He's been reported for trading but obviously nothing has come of it.
  5. The seller in question sold long string of Series Land Rovers, and never varied from the "I'm no expert on these" nd "I don't know" when asked questions. One or two of the vehicles had been in his family collection for many years, and he endlessly described driving them. Dodgy WoFs, vehicles not as described, shill bidders, fake feedback - all are stock in trade. He does have some lovely vehicles too, but I feel he has a one size fits all approach to trading. Get vehicle, make it look nice, sell it.
  6. Unlikely. More likely is that this listing will be pulled, or relisted. Past performance is an indication of future activity.
  7. That's Ole Hille selling another car. Heaven knows where he finds them. He's had a succession of 4x4s, at least several of which weren't quite as represented.

    Quick rant thread.

"Don't bother coming..." We'd already been, at an agreed time, and hung around waiting for them! 😡🤬😡

    Quick rant thread.

F%*&ng waste of space sellers. "We'll buy", we said. "When can we collect?" Arranged to collect from home address "at any time after 3pm". Get there at 3.10 after a 1-hour drive, 75km. No-one round. Message seller, no reply. Hang around for over half an hour - nothing. No replies to more messages. Leave at 4... Get a message at 4.20 - "Sorry, we're at home now." (Seller was aware of the journey we were making.) Message them again - "If we pay some money into your account, will you hold it for us?" No reply. Same message 12 hours later. No reply. Item shows as sold. "Are you holding it for us?" "We had someone collect this and pay cash. You can appreciate its first in with cash. Thank you." F%*&ng waste of space, time, money, fuel... 😡😡😡😡
  10. WoF'd the Baur. No comments on the sheet.:)

    Quick Questions

Not entirely BMW-related... What's the cheapest way to send 32-35kg from Chch to Hawke's Bay? Courier will take up to 25kg.

    Quick Questions

No idea how common this may be, but could it be a split hose?
  13. C'mon Richard! Non-running, fire-damaged (extent unknown), probably not certed for engine/gearbox swap, and an interior that needs a lot of work? That's not a $10k car, unless it's a vintage Jag or similar! There are a lot of chancers out there at present, trying to cash in on the E30 boom. Some of the cars available are fabulous and my even represent good value in the medium to long term (even at the currently elevated prices). Others are very poor. And.. WTF is a 'zoomer'? I know I'm old but I didn't think I was that out of touch! 🤣 Lass at work even said she thought I was 'fun' - she might be half my age, but I doubt it!
  14. There has been a suggestion passed up the line (so to speak) - the potentially interested party needs reassuring that Baurs don't leak when it rains!
  15. Market has gone mad. Live rego, non-running, no WoF, 'small engine fire'. M20B20 auto swapped to M20B25 manual (cert status not quoted). Will require paint and wiring. Asking $10k. (Although will consider offers.)
  16. Gavin is brilliant. Always helpful, normally has parts, organises fast delivery, and offers very good pricing.
  17. Sadly, asking price is no guarantee or even guide of anything. Adverts are often sparse on detail, folk don't know what they re selling, wouldn't know an iS from a SE (or an ordinary spec), and then are 'extravagant' with the truth. I've seen remarkably good cars at lower prices, and truly horrible examples at megabucks. Buying sight unseen isn't necessarily a bad idea, but there needs to be rapport between buyer and seller.
  18. I had a Chevrolet C10 pickup in that colour, about 25 years ago. Used to go drag racing in it - had 'Clockwork Tangerine' signwritten on the back of the cab.
