  1. I think whilst it will certainly be interesting putting e34 seats into an e28 it should be ok as the controls are (to my knowledge) on the seat. I will probably only bother if they are heated though
  2. Removed the rear subframe from the e34. It was quite an interesting exercise...
  3. My cousin has a pair of e34 electric leather seats. The problem is neither of us know if they are heated or not and he is in Hamilton whilst I'm in Wellington. He doesn't own a BMW, so I need some instructions to give him so he can find out if they are heated or not. The main reason I want to know is so I don't cut up my manual e34 seats to stick in the e28 only to replace them in a month or two. If they are only electric and not heated I don't think it will be worth the effort of wiring them up. The seats involved: Currently e28 cloth biege comfort Manual e34 black leather comfort Electric e34 black leather, maybe heated, I assume comfort
  4. I've got an OBC to replace the analogue clock if you (or the buyer) are interested.
  5. That might be a tough ask. Good luck though, they do appear occasionally. I got an almost running e28 for $1K for reference.
  6. Realised I had some mistakes in my post about what I had, should be clearer now. I think I should stop faffing about and just put the 260 in and go from there. Then if I can't sell the m30 ill stick it away for a rainy day and maybe build an m20 stroker in the mean time. And do the brake and seat swap anyway cause its not a special model so who cares about originality, plus they can be reversed easily. For the moment the e28 is the chassis I want to stick with. I would like a race car (e30 or e36 most likely) and/or a touring (e30, e34, e39 or e28 ) but can't really afford a nice one or another project car at the moment, or decide what model. So ill stick with the e28 cause I really like them now, besides e30s can't have all the love . Technically should have a cert for the manual conversion anyway... The m30 should be easily fixable. The m20b27 in the car runs (can't really tell how well with the exhaust off) and should be good, sub 200km and previous owner is a mechanic. I also have the majority of the parts for an m20 stroker so that's also an option.
  7. Lots of little things, matte black, completely sacked, ex UK so rusty, leaks, broken intake rocker (easy to fix though, engine is good), most of the rubber/seals (door seals, suspension bushes, everything) on it is ruined, door cards and headlinng falling apart, completely ghettofied electronics and the fact that it's now in parts
  8. Slightly at a loss as to where to go next with this project now that exams have finished. My main problem is I have too many options This isn't helped by my parents saying I should keep it original, but at the end of the day it's a just a fairly low K straight (enough) poverty pack 525e... (aka a blank canvas ). Basically what's the best thing I can make from all this stuff.. e28 manual (no gearbox in it yet) 525e (beige cloth seats), so a complete m20b27 m20b25 (block, crank and pistons. No head or sump) m20b20 (head, intake and exhaust manifold. No block.) e28 m30 manual driveshaft getrag 265 (no bellhousing) getrag 260 (early motronic m30) getrag 260 (early motronic m20) e34 manual 535i parts car (so another getrag 260, but late motronic), with running m30 (but broken intake rocker), black leather seats (that will fit the e28 with some mods), bigger brakes that I can use and maybe the rear subframe if I'm feeling insane... So what do you guys think is the best outcome from this mess of stuff? Edit: had one of the getrag 260s listed as an m30 when its an m20. Also clarified the m20 info
  9. Why not keep both I've also got a set of style 4s, but was looking at these for variety EDIT: And it's cheaper to buy these than it is to buy some tyres... Especially if I go to e34 brakes where I need bigger wheels
  10. Might be keen on these for the e28. Just not sure how I would get them to Wellington
  11. having an engine hoist will be far safer and easier, I can't see any alternatives other than manhandling it in there which seems like a bad idea
  12. Is this from an e34? Cause I think e34 large cases are different to others as they won't fit an e28 (yet other large cases will)
  13. Shouldn't this be in the rant thread?
  14. Turns out it is a 265/6 with OD 5th, so not a dogleg, but still a nice box. All of the gears are there and work, just can't test the synchros And I got free shipping
  15. I'm not sure how much of the original body would have been salvageable after the fire anyway
  16. I'm sure we could figure something out then?
  17. Bump. Prices are ono Diff $800 Manual conversion $1000 Long block, including ecu $600

    E28 M535i

What are the wheels? Are they style 5s or some other BBS wheels?
  19. Going for a ride in an e34 535is that actually works properly Thanks martyyyn
  20. Maybe they don't do nice wheels much/at all? And just do steel wheels or something
