This cable? I'll have a think about what you guys have said. I'd prefer to stick with 4x6 (preferably plates/components) as I'm looking for a fairly bolt in solution to start with. A sub is a must as I listen with one at home and really dislike not having one.

I also need to figure out the power aerial wiring

I've got a 265 with no bellhousing so I could take some measurements and have a play around

I've got a mate who's got some staggered style 32s if you are interested?

I can fit a small sub under the rear seat which keeps the stock look and boot space. I think I've decided on Polk MM461p's to go up front and then depending on how much some rear premium enclosures are I'll look at either some 5.25" or 4x6 coaxials for the parcel shelf.

Preferably in biege, but other colours considered. It should look like the picture below and have space for two speakers inside. Thanks

Have been trying to decide what to do about the timing issue. Flywheel fix or upgrade electrics. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go the electrics route as I end up with a better system and more gearbox and flywheel choice that way. I've recently started looking at using the m50 electrics as I'm able to source them cheaper than the m20 gear. In-between thinking about the engine I've started giving the stereo some thought ( see here http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/54883-e28-stereo-advice/ ), diagnosed the non starting issue as a faulty ignition switch ( yay ), messed around with different wheels (style 32s, 16" t-star replicas, will do basket weaves and my 18s soon), swapped the steering wheel to an early coarse spline m tech 1, test fitted an e34 leather seat (looks good and is comfy, but my family and neighbours don't like it cause it's not original ), I also did some more cutting and polishing (it's going to need a lot more ) and messed around with the e34. I've yet to start looking at swapping my LSD into the e28 case. This has turned into way more of a project than I thought it would be when I brought it

Hi guys, looking for some advice regarding the stereo in my e28. Currently I have an ok sony headunit (CD, FM, AUX, front and rear out RCA), two stock 6x4 and two sony 6x9 that came with the car (I'm not planning on using these). My car does not have the premium sound package so I only have 2 6x4 speaker mounts in the kick panel and 2 in the parcel shelf (these are empty). I would like to keep everything looking as close to stock/OEM+ as possible, so no cutting of major components or irreversible changes. The headunit is fine for now, but the speakers need an upgrade. I'm looking at buying: 5 Channel amp Small, maybe 10" sub to go under the rear seat 2x 6x4 component/plate style speakers (or equivelant individual speakers) 2x 6x4 speakers, probably coaxial, but could be component or individual speakers with a premium parcel shelf grill Most likely 2 tweeters (probably on the a pillars) My budget won't be super high, but I'd like to buy a few quality component rather than lots of average ones. I can also space the buying out, but the amp would need to come first, followed by some 6x4s Thanks

16x8 or 17x8 if your suspension is in good condition seems to be the sweet spot for looks vs performance. Some suggestions are throwing stars (turbines, stars or naked), style 4 or 5, alpinas, hartge, BBS Mahle, RS, RZ or RC

There's a m20b27 on Trademe at the moment. I've also got an m30b35 you could buy, but you would also need a new gearbox (different bellhousing between m20 and m30) which I also have.

Good to see the quickrant thread is on form today...

After following the advice in the thread above I rotated the engine till the reference pin was visible through the sensor hole in the bellhousing, and the white mark indicating the cranks position was underneath the fan pulley. Time to get the flywheel rewelded or find a replacement.

Found a course of action (now that r3v isn't down lol) http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=359355

Ok, attempted to check the timing and it appears to be off (and the more I think about it the more reasonable it sounds). I think the problem is that the flywheel has had the reference pin welded on, so it could easily be in the wrong place. If anyone has a motronic 1.0 flywheel in Wellington I can compare with that would be great, I just have to get it off first (I might check the timing belt first). I would do more research but r3v is down for maintenance

r3vlimited being down whenever I try and access it

Drove it halfway up the drive after much (at least an hour) fiddling about. Has a serious lack of power (stalled at WOT going up a slight hill in first lol), however it is a bit intermittent. I'm going to test a bunch of sensors tomorrow.

That the m30 with a broken rocker from my parts car ran better than my m20 in my actual car is what gives?!?
