Does this sound like a trans problem , battery/voltage problem, or coil/plug problem? At about 1200-1500rpm cruising or going up a hill the revs will bounce +/- a hundred rpm. Almost like it's missing or not knowing which gear it should be in. The battery is BMW branded, and has been harder cranking lately so could be just about dead. The spark plugs are the OEM type, can't tell if they look too worn or not.

I highly recommend summit racing, they have multiple shipping options and their prices are awesome. I ordered A LOT of stuff through them when building my Ford and never had a problem at all.

124's, 201's etc were built by engineers, not accountants so they are built extremely well. You can FEEL it. I love my 190e, even though it's the 2.0 4 banger i wouldn't say it's exactly under powered. When i bought it i replaced the HG and all the ignition components. If your 190 is a little sluggish I'd get out a multi meter that reads duty cyle % and see what it's running at. Someone may have fiddled with the adjustment screw and EHA. The Jetronic systems are quite complicated. Like most Euros in NZ, people screw them up royally from lack of knowledge and then blame the car. I personally would like a 93/94 W124 TE. One thing I know to stay away from is a 94-96 W202 as they used an "environmentally friendly" biodegradable wiring harness, and they did exactly that........

Won't be able to pop in sadly, I'm in Dunedin. Will send you an email though. Nice score on the glass sun roof btw, was gonna grab it but he wouldn't pack it.

Nice car, GLWS. I'd be all over those BBS's if i hadn't just replaced my tyres.

Ah magic, thanks. I've dealt with him before and didn't even remember to ask him! Bought replacement cabin filters. Will flick him a message now.
-
Great, thanks. Dad has a load of tools (mechanic) so will see what I can find in the abyss. We've definitely used that pipe/rod method before, especially on the 190. Did you source your bushes in town or import?

Hi Folks, Just wondering if anyone has done their integral links/ball joints and where you bought/rented the ball joint press tool from? Took the 540 in for a wof today and failed on those bushings. I was looking at this DIY before but wanted to know if anyone in NZ had any experience with theirs? http://www.beisansystems.com/procedures/swing_arm_ball_joints_procedure.htm

I need all the under engine plastic guards etc, including the front wheel well plastics, brake ducts and ambient temp sensor with plug. What type of MID does it have?
-
Was that you going down Taieri rd at about 10:30 this morn'? Someone in a Yellow M3, veryvery shiny!
-
McGlashan, think he was the year above me.
-
Damn, I need that MID haha. Flexible on that $200?
-
Horey as in Sam hore? Went to school with him. Few of my mates know him, I only really know the cars he used to have.
-
What sort of MID?

I hear there was a Golf sale today?
-
Qualitat are great! I bought numerous items from them and also Autohausaz when i had my Golf. I replaced pretty much everything on that engine short of the engine itself, mind you I don't know how well the PO took care of it. It's definitely the Dub way of life haha. Get friendly with part suppliers.
-
Damn, that's nice man. I've seen this around a bit and has a mean stance to it
-
Don't want to part with your 32's do you? I'm guessing they are e36 centre bore though... Very nice collection you have there!
-
Haha yea man it had half the bumper. The previous, previous owner drove it through a fence ripping off the bumper, under engine plastics and putting a big dent in the sill and door. Got a bumper and panel beating now just need to replace the plastics. Yep that's my silver 190 too, don't know what the previous owner did to the paint but it's rough as. I see there's a guy down your road who has two of them. Good taste. Do you own that Grey E90 with the mesh wheels? Don't happen to know anyone selling e39 wheels or can rent me some for a wof?

Small world! No issues when i had it at the start of the year, it sounds like the cat is rattly and could definitely do with removal. Oil cooler, head gasket, leads, distributor rotor/cap, a couple of important relays, and crank position sensor are just some of the parts that were replaced. Yep I live up Taieri road, only had the bumper off when it was in the garage getting the engine removed. Good to see it could potentially be in some caring hands!

Hi Folks, I have for sale a 16:9 display from an 03 530i. This is untested by me, however was sold to me as working condition. Was planning on doing the full nav conversion but that's not going to happen now. I know what these go for, but this one has a wobbly volume dial and is missing the trim surround. $150 or will swap for a working standard MID with no phone button and p/n: 65.82-8 384 930 Welcome to test first. Round BMW service port to OBD adapter, still in package. $15 couriered anywhere in NZ.

Beautiful 540! Feel like selling those BBS RX's yet?

Hi Folks, I'm Mason from Dunedin. I bleed Ford Blue and have a great love for Mercedes-Benz (anything German really). However at the start of the year I swapped my MK3 Golf wagon (5spd converted) for a 1998 E39 540i and this is going to be my new daily driver. Sorting some issues out for a WOF currently, as when I got it it had a bit of panel damage, front EDC shockies are leaking and needs tyres for the M-pars. Just waiting on tyres or hopefully, new wheels! Engine hasn't made any funny rattles or sounds although since I switched to synthetic oil I have noticed a little bit of chain rattle when cold so may switch back to a thicker mineral oil. Cheers!

They look good, what are the tyres like and how much? Brent, how much are you wanting? Not really my style but if the price is right they can be.
