Wifes stuck in Wellington, but out here in upper Hutt its ok.
  2. My e46 has the business radio where the Ac vent control is where the bottom half of the N6 would be. Will the N6 allow me to control these functions?
  3. Those Apex Rims are very nice, I better start saving.
  4. Yeah the 325i is quite low but it never bottoms out and I live up a rutted dirt road.
  5. Well I picked up the E46 and its not too bad. I suspect the RTA bushes need replacing and the front is a bit sloppy as well so LCA buses I would imagine. THe valve cover is leaking so I need to order some replacement gaskets. Driving the E46 back to back with the E36's it's certainly a much more modern feeling car but the E36 feels a bit more connected and that could be because the suspension is firmer. Anyway here they are. 3 BMWs for $7300 (Plus some bits and pieces for the 325i)
  6. Count me in for one.
  7. Yes blue one with Sunroof, picking it up tomorrow.
  8. Hopefully not a divorce lawyer, after all my wife is younger than me, better looking by far and earns more money than me, plus she secretly likes BMW's she just doesn't want to admit it publicly. Now all I have to do is find replacement trim for the E46 as I am not a big faux wood fan and perhaps some bilsteins or Konis and some 18'a nd some Pirellis and some ......................
  9. So at the behest of my wife I sold my Jap import E36 325i and it left me with my "Project" 93 325i coupe and as I always seem to be doing something to it I just don't get to drive it very often. Turners had a 96 318is coupe on a dollar serve so I had a bid and got it for a grand, its not bad had a leaking oil filter boss and worn front bushes but pretty cheap to fix them, and of course it was Silver so it matches my hair. My wife gave me that look that says I am not impressed but I ignored and said the car was actually for my boy, so that was ok. Then perchance I saw a 330ci advertised on TM for 4k. Now 4k 330ci's are not common so I rang him and he said just got back from holiday and I have a lot of messages re the car but come and have a look if you like. I had a drive and noticed a leaking valve cover but no other major concerns so I shook hands on it. Now 5 weeks later I am actually going to pick it up, I thought the seller was a bit dodgy as he wouldn't return my calls but he said he had to get a new transponder key from Germany so I could lock the car. If it is dodgy then I can always ell it as a parts car, car Jam says it has no money owing on it and the owner is the first NZ owner so fingers crossed km's are 180. My wife is unimpressed, but I am happy and after all I feel thats whats most important.
  10. I think Turners can be cheap, I bought a 96 318is Coupe that was pretty tidy for $1010
  11. Just want to say this is an awesome thread so much information being shared, thanks guys.
  12. I have done a similar conversion to my E36 but I went with an E46 325i setup. This involved replacing the carriers on the front as the caliper is the same but the rotor is 300mm vs 282 stock. On the rear I run E46 325 I brakes that just bolt up. Brake bias seems fine.
  13. So I have finished installing the new springs and shocks in my E36 coupe and it is ready for an alignment. Now reading a post in a US BWM site the OP said that up front he runs 0 Toe and between 2-3 degrees of negative camber. His rationale was that 0 toe helps with directional changes and is still stable at highway speeds. He also said that with 0 toe he gets much better tyre wear considering the camber he runs. He made quite a point about this stating camber plus + toe = wear, but camber with 0 toe = a lot less wear. Out back he has 0.20 Toe (Not sure if this is degrees?) and 1.5 degrees camber. He said toe in on the rear was essential for straight line stability. Now added to that I run M3 offset bushes to gain a little caster. Does anyone run alignment specs like this? I am also tossing up on tyres but have considered a directional tyre so I can remount them if I choose to run higher camber levels and wear the insides. I couldn't do that with an asymmetrical tyre. As usual I am keen on peoples real world experiences here.
  14. Stretched tyres and all that camber, just looks awful. Got to spend cash on tyres that fit and get some ride height into it.
  15. Just had a quote from Bridgestone on a set of Re002's, they have a buy one get the next for half price so a set would cost me $660. I have read both good and bad on them, the guy at Firestone hinted they have been upgraded since they first hit the showrooms. Anyway I drove an Audi S4 with them on and I couldn't fault the feel, the grip seem good but I had nothing to compare them with.
  16. You can get original Boge/Sachs from SAS Suspension
  17. Yes probably a bit optimistic at those levels however 8-10 psi is getting 300 fwhp with both Rotrex and Vortech superchargers in the US with nice increases in torque so we will have to see what this Chinese supercharger is capable of. Its basically a T4 from with a gearbox on the back. A mate has stripped it down and had an engineer have a look at it and he said it looked well made, I guess I will find out. But I feel comfortable with the Chip as at least I can control spark fuel etc effectively.
  18. I guess its possible but considering I will be remapping it seems easier just to use bigger injectors.
  19. As stated I will use a war chip these are fully programmable including vanos. I used one of the online programs to check the suitability of the Holden 42lb injectors and they will support up to 350 crank hp at 80% duty cycle. This was using Bsfc set up for supercharging. They are Bosch injectors and appear to have the same connectors as Bmw I will compare them over the weekend but the appear to be dimensionally identical, they just flow twice what the original BMW M50 injector does. I used this page for the calculations. http://www.witchhunter.com/injectorcalc1.php
  20. 42- 59 PSI is what Holden specifies, from memory an E36 is 42 or 50 PSI cant remember exactly.
  21. Ok Holden looks like the solution, I found a set of Ecotec V6 s/C injectors just as mentioned above that are 42 lb (440 cc) rated and support 350 FWHP at 80% duty cycle.
  22. Yes I could just buy injectors of them but surely there are other cars that have higher flowing injectors that are compatible, I figure its just a case of working out what those vehicles are. I know Holdens use Bosch injectors and thats what I am researching now.
