  1. Hold that thought!... Might have just found the answer and it could be easier than I thought! I'll post when I get confirmation
  2. Hi... Anyone know where I can get hold of some Sonax Full Effect wheel cleaner? Cheers Mike
  3. E36 318ti... runs on the smell of the proverbial oily rag... Use it as a daily to save killing my Alfa in Auckland traffic as the Alfa costs more in parts than fuel to run and everything is made of unobtanium!!!!
  4. I've imported a few parts from the US recently...www.youshop.co.nz is run by NZ Post and provides a US domestic address for your supplier to ship to (their warehouse) and they on-ship to you from there at significantly less cost than shipping directly from the supplier! As a bonus a lot of US suppliers ship free domestically (at least to the lower 48 states) so you're only paying once... Might work for you depending on size/weight etc... Hope this helps Mike
  5. Don't buy a 156 (or 147)... they're too much trouble, even the facelift models... There are some big bills hidden beneath the pretty exterior if it all goes pear-shaped on you)... And finding someone competent to look after it for you will be a complete nightmare!! If you don't believe me, check out the avatar and signature! As 3-Pedals said... The 75 was the last real Alfa ( I'm hiding one of the very few 3.0 V6 75s that made it to NZ in my garage!)
  6. I'd pay money to watch what happens next!!
  7. I'd fight them just for entertainment value... You'd be surprised how little these guys actually know about their designated powers... and unsurprisingly they know even less about their responsibilities... Haven't lost one yet!
  8. Getting a little tired of this sense of entitlement...It's not a god given right to be able to do what you like to your car and then drive it on a road! If you want to modify your car, do it within the current regulations,,, if you don't want to stick within the regs then can I suggest you stay the hell off the road,,. Some of the "modifications" I've seen include a Nissan S14 with a rock wedged between the spring and seat 'cos the fool cut the spring too short, a Fiat Uno with no springs at all so it's riding on the bumps, and a Holden Commodore with a block of wood and some #8 wire performing the duties of an engine mount... The regs (and associated costs) are there for a reason... ... Might as well give a monkey a gun!
  9. I gave up on Kiwishipping.co.nz.... their prices are turning into the same stupid shipping costs as quoted by other US companies... USD$266 to ship 2 brake rotors!!!
  10. You're really not getting this are you?
  11. Sorry to contribute to this but MoJoJo but I couldn’t stop laughing at the ‘poor me… I’m being victimised’ sob story… … You're quite happy to admit to driving at 140kp/h on public roads and in the same thread tell us all that your driving skills are "nothing to write home about"... Your crash happened on a road you have stated that you drive regularly which tells me that you are familiar with the sequence of corners, roading conditions and speed limits (and by that I mean both the posted and physical limits) … I’m going to make an educated assumption here but my guess is that you assumed that you really know the road, you assumed that you’re a much better driver than you actually are and you assumed that there would be no surprises jumping out at you during the drive. Unless the cause of the crash was one of the tiny (and I really do mean tiny) percentage caused by mechanical failure you were at fault… End of story! Using the excuse that “suddenly” it started raining is just a big pile! Did you really not notice the big fluffy grey things in the sky? Your story is full of holes… It looks like a fishing net… I’m not surprised Mr Plod didn’t believe you. While I’m at it… Do you really think that the Police are “ego trip criminals in uniforms… who walk around with a chip on their shoulder and have this "US vs THEM" mentality, just for wearing an unform that is given to them for upholding and enforcing the law.” Who “become arrogant twats who think they are some big shot making up the law as they go by” or is it because you just got caught? Maybe the roads would be safer without people like you on them…
  12. Cheers Tim... Much appreciated! Mike
  13. ... Don't suppose anyone knows the cable gauge that BMW used for the primary power input to the ignition, computer & fusebox on the E30 Cheers Mike
  14. Even more fantastic in the flesh (so to speak!)...
  15. Hi Sam... I'm a confirmed Alfaholic (you may have noticed the avatar) but unfortunately the 156 is a bit new for me... There are quite a few Alfisti (including workshops) at your end of the island... Jump onto here http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/new-zealand-forum/ and I'm pretty sure that you'll be able to get answers to just about everything Alfa... If I can help further, just let me know... Cheers Mike
  16. Aint no pill to cure stupidity!
  17. Holy crap :o ! I'm glad I keep the spare keys to the wagon in a safe place!!!
  18. Hey Ben... Having a couple of "issues" with my PM... Can you let me know if one/any/some/all have arrived... (just kept hitting send in the hopes something would get through... " Cheers Mike
  19. Have you considered looking at something off the shelf... Could make it easier than designing, fabricating and certifying... http://www.ahfabrications.com/index.php?cP...339q0h5cftlmqr0 ... as an example!

Andronicus... or Moak at a push...
  21. Sorry Ray, looks a bit like someone's been playing with photoshop... and gone 1 step too far ... LMs look way better
  22. Been playing with Italian cars now for about 20 years (hence the avatar) and the best piece of advice I can throw at you is find a good mechanic... Maurice is one of the best on these (a mate used to drive down from Auckland to get him to do work, and more recently had him build an engine for his Alfa and then shipped it to the UK to put into his car )... There are very few people who actually know what they're doing with all things Italian... Maurice in TA and Pete Reynolds at the Italian Job in Auckland both have a wealth of knowlege... I'd be surprised that one or the other can't come up with a solution... I'm going to see Pete this afternoon so I'll see what he says... Oh and by the way... you'll more than likely find that the electrics are Bosch! It's not just Magneti Marelli that should be called the "Prince of Darkness".
