Hey mate, i wish i could help just like a few of the members have also said. Not speaking from a parents perspective man, but i really can relate to what you mean about the realisation when materialistic possessions and money etc mean nothing anymore, it's the ones you love dearest that really hit home hard. I pray for nothing but the best for you and your son + family through whatever you guys are going through, stay strong, God Bless.

This would be an awesome track day project for someone? Or rebuild the current gears it comes with? Interesting, LSB is a really nice paint colour.
-
Anyone seen this M3? Very rare colour. Eye catching, reminds me of Santorini Blue. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1581782922.htm?rsqid=ecf037c8e87f42b0bc101092539c17aa

Yes i agree with you totally, and it's fair to "assume" that such high mileage examples had to have had money spent on them in order to run up 3-400km's etc.
-
Agreed, there's not a lot to go by, in regards to detailed info on the vehicle maintenance history. Either they're neat cars, but at that mileage i still wouldn't commit to such a thing. On a side note i did own a 323i manual e36 with 370km's on it, and it went very well, despite usual wear and tear.
-
Nice example, mileage is creeping up there, appears to be fairly tidy overall, these tourings are such nice cars, testament to the correct way to make a car last a long long time. Anyone on here own this? Sometimes i feel almost tempted to part with my E46 and cruise a daily E36 again....but E46's are just as fun IMO. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1529197169.htm?rsqid=3c4017fac8404a04b7325901a58bbaee

Not my taste in personalising an E46, but it must sound good with that straight pipe exhaust?
-
Hi Greg, haha, indeed it is a really nice project and hope it goes to the right person. No doubt it'll generate some good interest as these are not fairly common. All the best with the sale!
-
Ok, this must be a members car? Absolutely lovely example, and i'm sure for many of us, we all have a sweet spot for the E36 Touring. This one is a special one as the title says it all, modified to be an Evo variant. I've seen a handful of Euro spec versions worldwide but it's great to see someone create one here in NZ. So if you are the person that owns this example, great work and lovely car, i'd be all over this if i could haha. Hope it goes to another enthusiast! https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1463024206.htm

Nice tidy example, hope it goes to a good home ✌️

Keep searching...or find the ideal colour / option combination and have it converted to manual? I believe it's worth it in most cases as finding manual transmission E46's aren't in abundance.
-
Ooh i really like Calypso Red E36's. Just lovely to stare at haha, and not very common. Maybe i should sell my current daily and go back to E36 land? ??. Very tempting haha.
-
Just spotted this....thoughts? ? Looks fairly tidy. https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1429876175.htm

Nothing that money can't fix. But it comes down to whether it's worth it or not. The panels were still reasonably straight. It's hard to gauge how much money one would need to budget for this to be worth bringing back. It's good project for someone that isn't looking for a Garage queen. But like the other member pointed out, after seeing it up close, for an enthusiasts touch, the car would easily climb over $8k including purchase cost of vehicle just doing maintenance and preventative maintenance. Then addressing the more serious issues with rust etc. It's still a good buy at the right price, for the right type of buyer, but i think realistically $4-4.5k is fair. $5k? Not worth that. i've seen some nice examples go for $5-8k over the past few years...

Went to check this 328i out today. It needs a lot of work. Has some Rust in both Rear Wheel arches, also under the Petrol Filler Panel. Paint work could do with a whole respray. Lowered on XYZ adjustables, No Cert. WOF ran out, Power Steering Leak. Exhaust Leak i suspect upon starting the engine, pretty noisy, a long with Intake leaks which have just been taped up with what seems like insulation tape. Interior is ok, Door card on Passenger Front Right needs reattaching. Drivers seat has a tear down the seam on the seat. Lock Diff currently on the car. I asked the owner a few questions, it has seen the Skid Pad, but was told it hasn't been tracked. Rear Bumper is dangling off, needs to be properly secured. Overall, it's a good project for a track hack. But you will easily spend through the roof to make it worthwhile. I was interested in this mainly because it has a Cast Iron 328i motor. Many things to consider here. I don't need another E36 but if it comes out at the right price i may just take it for a winter project?

This came up a year or two ago, interesting example. Not many S/A 328i's in NZ. Santorini Blue is very nice indeed! Good project!

I've seen this nice example a while back on TM. Lovely looking car, and the colour is very desireable. Now, what are your thoughts on the price tag? Personally, i wouldn't pay that much for a vert, but that doesn't mean i can't appreciate a nice well kept, unmolested example. There's many other BMW's that will make you smile for a few $k less. Hope it goes to a good home, It may be a tad difficult to sell at the current price. I'm thinking a more realistic $18k plus? Unless a private collector picks it up, that would make sense. Is anyone willing to venture past $25k for an E36 M3? Perhaps i'm wrong? I'm aware the market value for genuinely well kept examples are creeping up world wide, but as they do, it's the individuals and special production models that lead the way with value. Lovely car anyway. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1347735943.htm

Have you considered an E46 330i? I'd go that route, there's also a nice Touring for sale. Won't regret it, but find a Motorsport version if possible, one that has been well cared for. Looking anywhere between $5K-9K for something good. Nothing wrong with the 325i version, but you may as well spend a little more and get more power ??. Lovely cars IMO. There's also a really nice example of a members Blacked out E39 530i Msport, with all the bells and whistles one could desire to have. Try to find one with good service history, and also do some homework on the E46 Pros / Cons. But there's already some really helpful info here for you. All the best with the search for a good BMW!
-
Ouch! This looks like a nice example, oh well, it'll live on through it's parting out ?
-
Love your car mate, very unique colour, but not exactly what i'm after, although i won't rule it out completely, thank you.
-
I agree with you, i am heading into either an Evo M3 or the 130i, i believe they're good value for what they offer, so if the M3 doesn't appear, i'll go that way for sure ?
-
Thanks for that, haha, yeah it could be a possible option, if it's the one i think it is, based in Auckland? Shall wait and see.
