Iβm plaining to do an oil change and service on the DCT box over labour weekend. Picked up all the parts I think I need but want to check in to see if anyone has any advice, tips or tricks you could share with someone that has never done it before. I know that once I have removed the old oil, installed new filters and topped up with new oil until oil overflows from the fill plug there is a service function in ISTA that needs to be run before I can fill with remaining oil to reach capacity. Any other helpful suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers

Last few weeks I've been hearing a suspension squeak in the front end of the e92. Replaced the front sway bar brushes. Took the car for a drive the next morning and not only is the rubbery squeaky gone but the front end feels alot tighter. Nice and easy cheap quick fix π

E30 Front Strut Nut Removal

Buy a deep socket from bunnings and cut the middle out, use a ring spanner to hold the center. -
Does the fact that these are the last 2door M3 help make them more desirable in the future?

Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?

The 1st question is great π -
Had to make some changes to one of the factory down pipe setup. The exhaust setup I had was a 2 piece system, the Scorpion bolts up to a 3 piece system so a bit of work to get everything to line up. Just need to get some bolts and then everything will be ready to bolt back in.

Recently decided to upgrade spring / shock combination, now running H&R race springs and Koni yellow sport adjustable shocks across all 4 corners. Here's a pic of the front Koni shocks v standard Monroe's.. And last pic of the day.. with new springs / shocks installed. very happy with the look and drive feel.

Is anyone wrecking an e30 that has this loom? The car would need to of had an OBC fitted.
-
In the past I've gone down to the local brake shop and picked up the hard line / fittings and made it up myself with a pipe bender and flaring kit.

On the hunt for the wiring loom that connects ambient temp sensor to OBC. It runs from front left brake air duct to under the glove box. Part number - 6121386981 looks like this..

@Gaz yeah i thought so, wasn't expecting to get it for that price, he dropped it of for an extra $40 all the way from Motueka.

Pulled out the medium case open diff over the weekend and installed this medium LSD 3.9 I recently acquired..

Agree with @Eagle, the valvetronic might need to be reactivated and put through the relearning process. Id suggest you download ISTA D and get a K+DCAN cable.

When I was 18ish (over half my lifetime ago) I mounted a curb in my e30 and took out the sump on my m20 engine, ever since then I've loved the south African sump guard. This car isn't a SA native so decided to add a guard for extra protection. Hopefully I wont be mounting any more curbs and this will only provide added protection while on pot hole filled / bumpy CHC roads. This one was one I collected many years ago, when offering it up to the car I could see it was pretty bent up.. took it into a mates shop got it on the jig and bent it back into place.. after that the install went pretty smoothly.

The dash in this car wasn't to bad, only one crack in the standard e30 position. However, I've had a mint one sitting in storage for a few years now and I've been waiting for the right time to put it to use. So, out with the old and in with the new. I think this is the 3rd attempt at pulling out and refitting e30 dash, not a bad job certainly not as daunting as one may think - IMO the worst part is refitting the heater duct controls and associated clips. I don't have to many photo's of this process but here it is with the old dash completely removed.. While I was in there, I pulled out the old blue carpet that was pretty tatty and installed a better looking blue replacement that came into my possession from a friends parts car. Replaced as many of the seals in the air box as I could with new sticky foam from Bunnings. And retrofitted an OBC to replace the analogue clock, the only piece I need to complete the job is a piece of loom that connects ambient air temp and OBC horn. If anyone has this piece (including ambient air temp sensor) and don't need it I would be more than happy to purchase it from you. Re-installed and everything worked - Very happy boy!
