  1. Yea i think the moment just went to their heads, they,d be pretty embarrased to see that I reckon because they were caught pants down ,but who hasn,t done something similar in a moment of weakness, Easy to be holier than thou
  2. never ceeses to amaze me how many people have important work files, databases etc on their laptops and then let their kids play games on them where they are download ing all sorts of crap mp3s torrents and visit targeted sites and keep getting infected. They are always sorry and say I'm never going to do that again and then always do.Work is work, why expose yourself to the risk,I realise you got hammered by an email which is not your fault but my advice would be to start again properly, divide your harddrive into 2 partitions and have xp with the logging program or whatever on,Do not use this for internet ever.No emails nothing, Xp is just too full of holes and why take the unnecessary risk with import work files and systems. And why suffer day to day on a prehistoric OS because of one program rather run a full os like windows 7 or 8 on another partition and use this for all your day to day stuff, internet and emails, and just choose which system to boot up when you turn it on. this also means you can keep a backup image of each system for quick restores. Or buy a cheap 2nd hand machine and xp system on that, Quicker option again is to build a win 7 or 8 system and run xp in a virtual system inside that,is quicker to switch between if your in and out of the 2 systems multiple times during the day but I couldn't guarantee that a virus wouldn't pass between the 2 and it would take longer to get up and running again if things went xmas.
  3. remember 2002 models and 635
  4. OMG you don't often find a bus coming the other way as you enter a corner, those spectators are mad, no wonder people get killed
  5. After hitting a large pothole at highway speed with a full load of passengers and and almighty bang it was,a few days later I had a slow leak and took it in for puncture, rim is cracked in two places on the internal bead lip. Guy mentioned a local firm could grind it out and reweld has anyone had this done successfully, I don't fancy the chances of finding a matching rim
  6. If you are buying new, Diesel would be ok but 2nd hand you just don't know enough about the previous owner,Diesels are way way more untolerant of neglected oil and filter changes, A second hand diesel could be a virtual minefield of very expensive repair bills, unless you know what your looking for You also havn't factored in the service costs of all those filter changes, there seem to be more to change and at much more frequent mileages
  7. hilux and hia-ace, vans in general get crazy money for the mileage are we comparing from new because any euro is going to lose being it started so much higher when new,how can a 911 that was 200k and is now 50k not a big depreciation compared to a corolla that went from 30 to 10 corvettes and early mustangs probably sell for more now than they did brand new, is that depreciation? biggest loss would have to be mercs or alfas I reckon, people are scared of 2nd hand alfas

  10. thanks for that, can you explain the normal flow to a layman,im trying to get my head around the whole fuel flow system,it seems quite complicated with vacuums etc, apart from the noise obviosly the diaphragm will eventually fail and what then, will I be stranded? it seems to be quite an irregular fault, people talk about pump failures a lot but this is quite a different ballgame
  11. Ive been trying to find an intermitant hum for weeks and have finally tracked it to the center of the 3 fuel lines running under the back passenger footwell. I thought it must have been a broken plastic clip and tried jamming pipes with soft rubber but it has made no difference and they look fine.its a high pitched hum and vibrates especially at the tank end. Only thing i have found is http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...-after-starting Has anyone come across this before .it seems to be gettng worse.what does the middle line actually do
  12. replaced water pump 3 yrs ago, done less than 30k and after hearing a noisy bearing rattle somewhere in the front for last few weeks I suddenly noticed that I can grab the fan and move it,pulley and all, can the bearing fail like that with the seal still intact, googling people say the viscous fan can also collapse but this seems to be the whole pulley and shaft loose so suspecting pump. Is it likely Ive got idler pulley or some sort of belt path issue, why would a pump fail so quickly,so disappointing can anyone quote on replacement pump, alloy fin preferred to plastic
  13. Ive dealt with them for wifes car and they have always been very helpful, can give them a free plug thats all

  15. reminds me of a video game, you get that braver and braver feeling as you get faster and faster but it always ends in tears, its just so addictive but on screen you just push reset, damn doing that in real life must be a rush
  16. Mine is still working but the motor sounds quite scratchy,is there an easy way to open them and perhaps spray some oil around or are they a sealed unit
  17. dataviz documents to go ,you will have to pay but it works very well has its own upload control thru iTunes as well as all the cloud usuals, can also use a desktop app with it its been around since palm days, so very stable office365 works in a browser so that works well to theres a few googledocs apps too like good docs as an example
  18. m52 valve cover stud into head has snapped also can you get replacement rubber grommets for the valve cover bolts, they seem to have lost there compression and need overtightening ,hence the snapped stud

  20. After running around town for a few days it just didnt feel right and after refueling today with the computer saying range--- what an immediate difference, just so much more pep cant believe how much better it runs on 95
  21. So I accidentally fueled up from empty with 91 on my 525 m54(usual garage was shut and Was in a daydream) anyway drove 400k with 3 adults and luggage over probably biggest hills in North Island,Taupo Rd and didnt really notice any difference, perhaps a slightly lower km/l than usual 10.2 km/l for a trip and a slightly earlier kickdown when passing altho there were that many police, cameras and traffic around It was a slow trip anyway. So does running on the lower fuel cause long term problems with tuning or something and if I just refill normally next time no damage done or what harm could I do by running on 91 all the time. The price difference adds up over a year and I suspect there's plenty of old bmws around where people happily ignorant fill them with 91 all the time.
