  1. I normally get around 750 on a trip (plus up or down a bit dep on the day). E39 528iASE (edited for crap typing- Rog) That gets me from Palmy to Auckland with plenty of fuel to spare for when I have to slow down to 5kph when I get on the motorway - LOL
  2. That IS a car - but wasted on an old fart....
  3. Whatever you get - good luck and enjoy it, but no girly car, eh? No MX5, Celica, MR2 etc (unless of course, you are a girl - then they're brilliant for you). I suppose blokes could put on a long blonde wig every time they drove the car in public and pretend ... I know some of you (well, oK then - Sparkle) like to do that
  4. Thanks one & all. Every day above ground is a good one... Rog
  5. Might as well buy a Flacon or Commodore then... that's all they seem to race in NZ these days IMO, 3s are the best bet for the younger set, but us old farts just look silly in them.

    Overdue fines

I agree. To me its like these pricks who drive around in unregistered & unwarranted cars - & never get caught/punished. It seems the system looks after the crims at the expense of the law-abiding..... pisses me off!

  9. Is it still true that the more expensive one's mags are, the more liklely it is that they'll be stolen??

This one is easier for me to read, but don't forget that around 95% of the members here are young... us old farts don't count!

I'm using two LCD monitors, a 19" and my laptop's 15". To me, the site looks a lot better on my 15". But don't forget I'm old and my eyes are not as sharp as they were when I was your age, so that factors into my opinion also. Further - the white on black/grey - to my eyes, the white bleeds into the background and makes it kinda fuzzy. I couldn't put up with that in my normal work. I just copied and pasted into a std word document, with black text on white bg and there is no bleeding - far easier on my eyes.
  16. I wasn't keen on them at all, until I clicked on the picture and got a really good look. I agree - although I wouldn't have anything but BMW wheels on my ride, those octane black mages are very nice. Should suit your ride well. To my taste -> chromes are better bling on non-BMWs. Zenetti - not so nice to me as the OB.

    Overdue fines

How the hell can a wet behind the ears kid rack up so many fines? People like this show zero respect to society and should therefore be shown zero tolerance by society. Fortunately, I'm not a judge, or he'd already be in jail and all future earnings (including the dole) be garnished until the fines are paid in full ..... Teen 'risking jail' 05 July 2006 By MERVYN DYKES He is only 17, but it is pointless giving Nicolas Chapman any more fines, said Judge Nevin Dawson in Palmerston North District Court yesterday. Chapman owes $55,830 in fines already and there is no evidence that a payment plan is in place or that payments have ever been made, he said. There is also a $765 reparation order in force. Chapman, unemployed and living at home, pleaded guilty to two new charges - driving with a suspended licence and giving police false details. On the driving charge, Judge Dawson imposed 60 hours of community work and disqualified Chapman from driving for six months, to take force after his present disqualification ends on September 8. For giving false information he was convicted and discharged. "This is your final warning," said Judge Dawson. "If you come back again, you risk going to jail." He told Chapman to sort out a payment plan for his fines before leaving the court.

Me too, Carl. I'm finding it very difficult to read. However, like the great Barb said - only fools and women criticise a job before its finished. Therefore I'll wait...

Cool - I thought I'd typed the wrong url. Blue and white - BMW colours grey/black/orange - Mitsubishi colours ??
  22. Jeff Gray PN are the best!
  23. Yes they all make a difference. Neither of us have cruise control, each car had only the driver in and we swapped the lead - a lot However, I am a smoother driver than him, I guess I'm a throttle squeezer rather than a stabber and I think that could be a part of the difference. We both use 98 so there was no difference there. Like I say, its all pretty meaningless, but we had fun and I have a hold (however tenuous) over his gas guzzler now!!
  24. Last week I caught up with an old mate who has an e39 523 manual, same year as my 528 auto. We went for a run together to Taupo and back (from Palmy). The fuel consumptions figures were interesting: 523 12.2 l/100kph 528 8.7 l/100kph Well, I thought it was interesting, anyway. He was less impressed. The last time I can recall doing a comparison was in 1973 when a mate & I had - wait for it - Austin Kimberleys - his was manual, mine auto. We went on holiday together and the manual ran at 23mpg with the auto at 27mpg. We should all depend upon our own experiences, rather than believe what other's say, so for me - based on my own experiences - a manual car is less fuel efficient than an auto in the same conditions. I know - 4 cars is hardly an effective sample, but there ya go.
  25. As for that pink show car - someone needs shooting - what a monstrosity!! I assume its a girl's car? I had an RX3 Coupe when they came out in 1974 - 12A. I wouldn't touch one these days, but then again, its not my car, its yours. Yes, its a powerful engine for its size and yes its a rotary and yes it'll sound like arse, but so what? I think the bottom line is - its your car, do what pleases you and don't give a flying f**k about what anyone else thinks. People will laugh at you, but just smile and be happy.
