There must be another couple children in your future, and a marriage to a small independent Pizza shop owner. The sedan will be good for lugging those two things around.. May as well sell the coupe now.
-
lol. I don't think anyone's hating, just saying they're never as desirable at the coupe variant of the same model. It's been that way forever.
-
I don't see the value of those sedans sticking around very long regardless of transmission, sure there's always going to be a preference for manual amongst some and that would command a higher price, I doubt that price will be much of a premium soon enough though, at the end of the day the cars getting on and it won't be long till the shape is plentiful and cheap on Trademe. I personally don't put much in the added value of recent maintenance items on a vehicle like this, maintenance is maintenance is is required anyway, sure it's great to know this and this is new, but soon enough that and that will require attention also. I don't think time is on your side when comparing the now and then of the past, I also don't think cosmetic upgrades will help stave off the pace of devaluation either. I'd expect the coupe's to hold their value because they're a much more desirable car. It's practically already a classic shape, just needs the 2.8 engine and manual trans..

Seen those rear window mechs on the facebook page the other day. Clever, nice addition.
-
Buy it Kyu. It'll be a nice addition to my Street Beautification scheme I've been running. You haven't been able to find one of those hairdressers cars to suit your requirements, so you may as well trade up to this!

Probably saves a lot of server space. seems the requirement for uploading pics is they're made public which probably isn't too unreasonable for a site with reasonable traffic. There's probably some easy solution whereby the pics from your camera/phone are synced to something like dropbox or cubby. I've used both and cubby seems a pretty good cloud and free use for 5gig? Then just link straight to that.
-
Ha, So I see. Seems you need to have a pic uploaded somewhere already - Facebook, photobucket, or some image hosting site. Then copy/paste the url of the image. Sorry I'd just assumed the same applied when "full editor" was used, looks just the same as a regular thread post. I'd never used it.. That works. Your PM inbox is full by the way.

Click "full editor".

rockER cover.. Quite an update, a lot of work there.

I know. NZ is a pretty small place though, especially for something like throwing stars. A bit of a long roundabout way to go but if that car could be got for 2k you could probably still sell it for $1200-$1500 with a regular set of dirty old weaves.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-773140557.htm I have other priorities, could be a nice set though if someone wanted some... No idea of the authenticity etc.
-
I might have gone to take a look at that red e34 and thrown a reasonable bid on if there were a full set of those stars to begin with. I saw what I thoyght was the same m5 yesterday around Albany too.

Probably a dumb question, but do those door cards fit a sedan too?
-
At least you made it home from Hutt. One of my kombi's grenaded itself on the last corner up top of Broken River Skifield access road, Got towed to Springfield and spent 10 days living on the forecourt of the gassy and scamming showers from the pub across the road. Is the inside as tidy as the outside? Looks like a sweet car.

Grandad beige and mudflap styles. I like it!

You should go take a few snaps all round it and inside, would give folk a better idea of what the likely value would be. Could even end up in a sale..

I think your comments are fair and valid Glenn, you could probably take it further and forward safety aspects and the risk involved in fooling around with thing's you aren't trained to be fooling around with. The idea of an airbag going off in my face and smacking my teeth out is as worrisome as a spring compressor letting go and impaling steel fragments in my jaw or opening a hole in my cranium. It's something to think about. DIY is DIY, we could fall off a chair changing a lightbulb or off a ladder pulling leaves out of the guttering. Folk at home are still climbing chairs and ladders though. I think it's all worth a mention though. If someone is confident enough to give something a go they're going to give it a go until they realise they're out of their depth or have bitten off more than they can chew. That's generally what I do, and once the hole is dug, defeat will be admitted and it's time to pass it onto someone more skilled. It could be argued that scenario can be avoided altogether and you take your broken item to a professional to be fixed straight off, that'd be a valid point but for folks either inherent curiosity, financial necessity, or belligerent stubbornness to try fix it themselves regardless. The safety aspect should be a priority though, we should all be covering our ass somehow.
-
Yup. But if you want to give it a go you're welcome to it. I just got lucky for the one time I used it. The second time I used it was for fitting non airbag steering wheel.. The instructions basically say the same as you did. And it was only $60NZ. :-)

I have this airbag reset tool. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/bmw/electrics/auction-770197921.htm OBD1 & OBD2 Finds the fault and dishes out the code, you repair the fault, then use the reset tool to extinguish the dash light. It only works when the fault is repaired obviously. Free use, will ship if the shipping costs are covered.
-
Yeah I need one too. They're cheap enough, but unnecessary for a one time use. Should organise some kind of syndy up "use of" type arrangement with oddball usefull items we have that'll barely be used. I've an airbag reset tool which is practically useless to me outside of some random failure that will likely never happen. But I know someone else will have a one-off use for it.
-
It doesn't actually turn too bad as it is. Well better than I would expect in a larger 20+ year old sedan. It's quite a solid feel as it is so it'll be interesting to see what the koni shocks are replacing. I did find M5/Nurburgring sways on Turner Msport for around $500US sometime in the past, I'll see what happens when I put this set of springs/shocks in nearer summer. I have about two dozen other things to do in and around what I've written up there so likely I'll stretch it out a little, My electric headrests gave up inside 10 minutes of fidgeting around with them, my kid has pulled the electric seat controls off the passenger seats too, the key central locking has never worked and the factory alarm I somehow fluked into passive mode. So a few small bits to tinker around with between the overall plan.
-
You'll still need the airbag reset tool after you're done repairing the fault to get rid of the light on your dash. Mine might work and you're welcome to drop by and use it if you don't have access to one.
-
I'm curious about the "spray machine". It's not one of those ones with the electric pump incorporated into the handle that fires out teaspoon sized goblets of paint in random oscillations? Or do you plug it into the air outlet of your vacuum cleaner? lol.
-
Nope, well possibly. I've had the front end wobble too and it only existed around 85-95KPH. Under or over that it was all smooth sailing and functioning perfectly fine. If you held it right on the sweet spot though for a time that shaking could be quite violent.
-
Theres a resistor trick you can mock up and plug in. Its documented on youtube and a few forums around the place. Does as you suggest and doesn't affect function of airbags at all allegedly.
